Howdy folks! I ditched the running partner, didn't even email her, and ran on my own in the park. Never even looked at the watch until 10 miles, then realized that if I really push it, I can do a half marathon's length in just about 2 hours. Well, I almost made it: 13.1 miles in 2:00:21. That's a HUGH HONKIN' PR for me, I can't even begin to imagine I kept a 9:11 avg pace for that long! These were my splits:

mile 1 - 9:09

mile 2 - 9:19

mile 3 - 9:06

mile 4 - 9:20

mile 5 - 9:09

mile 6 - 9:14

mile 7 - 9:10

mile 8 - 9:16

mile 9 - 9:29

mile 10 - 9:12

mile 11 - 9:05

mile 12 - 9:07

mile 13 - 8:48

last 0.1 - 8:31

Then I came home and found that my running partner had emailed me, saying she was going to the gym with her daughter, and that maybe we could run together tomorrow... whew! Happy endings for all.

Hope everyone's day has a happy beginning, middle and ending.

ETA: I have no clue what all that gibberish is in the middle. I tried to copy and paste data from Garmin Connect, it didn't format correctly, so I deleted it all and just typed. Obviously there stuff there that I can't delete now. Sorry!

I have all kinds of data on Garmin Connect but that way madness lies. I ran 7 miles in IRC. My pace chart was all over the place because I used the Steve Podrunner "Top of the World" mix and really liked it. His slow sections are really slow, though. We go home soon to watch the Bedlam football game. I wish I had seen that Boise State-Nevada game but went to bed. Way to go, Ducks.

eta-OM, I just checked the race thread & you're not on there. Isn't it about time you signed up for a race?

..........................but not as breezy as Robin and I will be in a couple of weeks in our red Speedos, zippin' around our respective downtown streets for charity!

Super solo 1/2 marathon, OM! I agree with Opie..... I think it's time you signed up for a real race. Something tells me you'll surprise yourself and really enjoy it!

It's a lazy day here too, as I'm resting today and joining my running partner tomorrow morning for a long trail run. Got a bit more yard work done.... the main bird feeder is moved to where we can see it from the kitchen window, all the plants that are still in pots have been sunk into the vegetable garden, and I picked up a bale of straw from the co-op to cover the pots with for the winter. Thankfully the ground hasn't frozen yet, and the storm that was predicted today seems to have swung north, leaving us at about freezing, but sunny.

Where my friends are running the 100 miler didn't get anywhere near the volume of snow predicted, and the temps shouldn't dip much below freezing overnight. I hope everyone's going to be OK. This is a minimalist Fat Ass event, that was put on for the express purpose of getting a late November 100 on the schedule for Monica Scholtz. This will be Monica's 25th 100 miler for 2010.

Enjoy the day, everyone!

25th 100 miler in 2010?!?!?!?!?!

I ran 10 miles today on another hilly route that I've been avoiding for years. I had the additional joy of a windblown snow as I was climbing the hill on the way back - 230 elevation gain over 1/2 mile. That was a tough 1/2 mile.

<<<I can't believe I forgot to post that I saw a beautiful bald eagle on my run today. I've only seen two bald eagles in my life, and both times I was on a run. He flew right over my head, about 100 feet away from me. How cool was that?!?

Congrats OM, I agree, bout time you ran in a real race. You're obviously capable of much more than you think.

Congrats as well to Team Econo yesterday. That 1st place must of took it all out of you Econo, seein' how your too lazy to start the daily

Thanks for the compliment the other day posi....hadn't planned on going to newport, actually, hadn't planned on ever trying to run a road marathon again, but it would be nice to see you again.

Went to the gym, ran a progressive 13.1 miles on the TM, starting at 5.5 MPH and finishing at 6.6 MPH. Haven't been on a TM in over a year. Forgot how warm it gets in the gym, but the scenery was nice though. Took 2:11 something, no where near as impressive as Orange Mat, but that would have got me 1 out of 3 in last week's GPHM (M60-69). Obviously, I picked the wrong race last weekend. Oh well, I didn't have the extra $20 anyway. Speaking of turning 60, in the last week I've received 3 pieces of mail, all addressed "dear senior", and wanting to sell me burial insurance. I guess I've got one foot in the grave now.....who knew???

Good running to all

John, you hardly have one foot in the grave if you're admiring the scenery at the gym. Running 2 hrs on a TM would put me in the ground, I'll tell ya!

I say let OM do whatever moves her! Why race if it's not your thing? Sounds like she's getting her jollies as iz! Well done, OM!

Mustang Sally and I ran Gunner Shaw. It's the largest cross-country race in B.C., and normally known for its "puddles" and general craziness. Not quite as crazy this year, unfortunately. The RD nixed the puddles as the ice may have shredded some skin. Instead, there were lots of slushy, slippery bits. Cascadias aren't great on that stuff. Kind of frustrating not being able to get any traction! Anyway, long story short, I didn't exactly kill myself on this one. Stayed behind others on single track when I probably should have passed. Turns out I was 2nd F50-59, but considering the medium effort, I can't say I'm over the moon about it.

MS gave it her usual hard effort. She wasn't too far behind and did well in her AG. Going out to run the trails on Saturdays with the club is working!!!

Awesome, Solo-OM and Gunner Shaw Puddle Avoiders! Both events sounded fun; yay, Goddesses!

Yup, too lazy to start the daily -- plus, I felt I hadn't earned the right, as I'm just waddling around today shopping, doin' some laundry, etc...

I visited Emeraldvalley and she got me hooked into a trail race (on an insanely hilly course) in (gulp) 3 weeks. So tomorrow we'll get together and do some recon. The course map is, like, "huh?" Golly, I hope it's well marked, or some Eugenians are going to end up in the Cascades.

10 miles this afternoon on soupy snow. I too decided to do some hills today. 2:03 with so hefty elevation gain and lost.

Contemplating to cook dinner now...I am tired of TG dinner! What to cook. What to cook.

Hey all, just got home from nearly a week at Mom's. Sharing a computer with 4 other people plus cooking and chatting and running and MTB'ing, hiking. I see I missed a bunch.

But............OM if you are enjoying yourself don't feel pressured by all these yahoos. Run for the fun of it. It's great fun watching how you are enjoying yourself and improving!

TW, the mental picture I am getting here is not pretty :)

That's HONKIN' FABULOUS, OM

Nice run, SS

I was too lazy to run at all today, but I'm getting vituals ready for a long run tomorrow.

My next biggie race is a 40 milerish the end of FEB if I can graduwait off the waiting list.

So I need to start thinking in terms of time-on-my-feet type training.

I got a new blaze orange toboggan(the head kind) since deer season in going full tilt in these parts.

Well, I agree that OM should do whatever the hell she wants. She's obviously kicking some virtual butt in her training runs, and her enthusiasm to see what she can do next is really fun to behold. But I also think it'd be fun to see what she could do in a race. Something like a 10k or 10 miler would be good to try, IMO. 5k's are too frantic, and halfs or full marathons require a little too much "investment," if you know what I mean. But still, do what you like, dear Orange Mat. Just know that we're all tickled to see how well you're doing and that you're obviously having a ball doing it.

Nice run for SS and Mustang Sally! That sounds like fun, even if you didn't go "balls to the wall," SS. (never really sure what that meant, but it's fun to say!)

Oh Tomwhite.... that's funny. Better you than me, I'd say. Heh. Bring a towel next time. And a hammer.

BTY, I've seen a couple bald eagles on runs and yes it is always a thrill. I've not had one so close, but circling above me when I ran by the river and a couple times down in Anchorage. Beautiful birds.

Hi Econo! You did what I did today. Well, I didn't go shopping, And I did run. So maybe not quite.

But I spent a good amount of time puttering around the house, cleaning the kitchen... as in, going through the stacks of paper and clutter/crap piled up on the counter asking DH "What's this?" "Why is this here?" "Whose is this and where does it go?" Soon he had a pile of things HE had to do something with. I think he just dumped them in another pile in the garage. So it goes around here. We shuffle stacks of crap till someone cries UNCLE and throws the shi... stuff out. I think I'm there. I also did laundry, changed bedding, and so on. Then ran 8.1 hilly snowy miles and finally took a shower (first time since Thursday afternoon). Heh. I love long weekends.
