So recently Tom Brady signed a new contract that makes him the highest-paid QB in the NFL. I often wonder why some guys do this. Doesn't this just hurt the team because of the salary cap? I mean, it's not like Brady needs the money. He's made zillions, his wife has made even more (how many NFL players can say that?) and even his other baby momma has a lot of money. So why didn't he take a smaller deal and free up more $ for the team to get other good players? I'm not saying he should've signed for the league minimum. I know the players' union wouldn't like that. But you think he could squeak by with just $10M or $12M per season...

Because he DID do that on his last contract.  And then the NE Pat management went cheapo with their other players. </p>
