I followed up the triple weekend with a double... involving a mountain trail marathon on Saturday, and a very flat road marathon on Sunday.

I was in over my head on Saturday and it was pretty sad, really. I got back to more middle-of-the-road normal on Sunday.

As always: don't go in there expecting fast mile splits, BQs, or hardware. Especially for that Saturday race. Oh my goodness

The Mountains and Flat marathon double.

The Sunday race was my 40th marathon+ultra this year. As my goal is "50+" with a stretch goal of 60, it felt good to get to 40 by mid September.

Wow, really unbelievable stuff. Following up a mentally taxing marathon with yet another marathon the next day is very woah.

Sorry that you didn't enjoy the first marathon more, it sounds like it could have been great fun under different circumstances!

Nice comeback the day after!
