The LIST - for IM

OK, so I have the checklist of all my gear, but what are the other things you do/need to do, bring, always forget, or recommend. 
 
Examples:
Freeze bottles
Clip Toenails
Paint Toenails. - ladies and occasionally me for races 
 
Give me ALL to help me not worry <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/roll_eyes.gif" title="">

Plan your pre and post race meals.
 
buy groceries if you'll be at a place that allows cooking (condo, etc.).
 
Triple check your location of all gear -- I ran around for at least 45 min looking for THE hat I wanted to wear, before it decided to make itself known.
 
Oh, KCWoodhead has a great list that she sent to me. Ask if she'll send it to you too.
 
Plan the back up plan(s)
 
Make lists.....as you do things, physically cross of item on list. Once it's crossed off BELIEVE IT!!!! Use lists the entire weekend to keep your head together.
 
Can't think of others right now.

laptop, laptop power supply, work blackberry, valium.
 
that's for the work related things I may be doing the end of next week.

on a more helpful note, I suggest you start with your existing race checklist.
 
also figure your pre race workouts so that you can bring appropriate attire for that. I am not spending my saturday frantically trying to find a laundromat because you ran in your favorite shorts.
 
put a small fan on that list so you have appropriate noise while you're sleeping. also earplugs.

Beer. You need to kick aside several choice ales to enjoy later that night. But first, when you are done, head into town to the brewpub/brewery for a few pops. They make good beer. Can't remember the name of the place, but it is right on the main drag about half way down. I'm not referring to the place across the street from the swim start. That place is good too. You will go there as well. But go to the other after the race, because it is far less crowded. And have beers stocked in the shack fridge for late night. There will be late night. You will be tired but unable to sleep. Enjoy it.

Yes I agree with Thor. Have a beer plan. Beer is a necessitity for proper recovery. Nothing better to celebrate victory with a nice cold one.

Best beer I have ever tasted - ever - was after my IM in Germany - some of the guys I was with were concerned with proper hydration and saline drips and recovery that they headed straight for bed after the race - I headed for the bar
 
Funny but most of the pros were in the bar as well including Chrisse W and Macca who had just won the race that day
 
so definitley have beer afterwards

I can't, it's Monica's truck and I won't bring it until AFTER the race.. I'm superstitious!

My goal is to be ABLE to go for a beer after. MoCo and Cak are volunteering so we'll see what the schedule looks like. Assuming I'm not finishing at 11+pm, I'd like to try to watch the finish.

I have on in PVD, but I am not 100% sure of the plan. When I hit mile 13 and feel like shit, but need some motivation, I will finish the rest of the design in my head.
