Where Moco, Horace and I get to swim the magnificent Chesapeake Bay just to prove we're tuff!

Pre-race preliminary report:

I decided to Amtrak from Birmingham up to Washington DC, then get on the Metro and head to Silver Spring, MD (because my sister was a flake, but then....well.....that's a story for a different occasion).

MOCO and ADCO said they'd pick me up there, and it worked out great.

The train was 4 hrs late leaving BHM, and then only made up about an hour so we were pretty late getting in to DC, but that gave them better travel time to get to Silver Spring.

We headed to the hotel, checked in, chilled out, then did a recon drive over the bridge that would serve as the race course, found the venue for the finish and starting points, and then headed to Macaroni Grill for dinner. All in all, a great day before the race day.

CAKE loaned me her sleeveless wetsuit (good thing, too....the water is WARM... 79 degrees and possibly warmer tomorrow) so that I don't get "heat prostration" and sink like a stone in my full sleeve wetsuit. I tried it on and it fits great.

Now, I"m rearranging my things to be race morning ready and will then stash my stuff in ADCOs car to be transferred after the finish into my sister's car. She and the hubby plus nieces will meet me at the finish, and then I'll crash with them tomorrow night before heading home on Monday. Hopefully, the train won't be so terribly late for the return trip. I plan on sleeping through most of it, though.

I did forget, though, how late it's light in Eastern Time. Rather nice....and odd....after living so long in Central Time.
