I got home allright this morning. I was actually able to get up to 40mph in stretches. The worst part was when I exited the Interstate onto Pleasantdale Road which I live off of. Just sheets of ice to drive on - somewhere around 15 or 20 mph at the most going up and down inclines. The Atlanta Thrashers could have had a hockey game with no problems. I was so glad when I finally parked.

The regular 3rd shift person has agreed to come in tonight so I can get back to normal work hours. But we will have no significant thawing until Saturday - and I have a 26 mile training run scheduled that day at the Silver Comet trail. Should be interesting.

And while neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will stop the U.S. Postal Service, ice will in Atlanta. Most of the city has had not mail since Saturday. Good thing I pay my bills online.

It's so bad at the airport that Delta cancelled their Atlanta-Honolulu flight Monday. Greyhound has stuck passengers at their terminal who are being fed by the Salvation Army, McDonald's and the Atlanta Corrections facility. Greyhound is keeping two busses running with heat so passengers can stay warm if they wish.
