Facing Ethics Charges, Rep. Waters Points Finger at Bush Administration

It's on Fox - but it's still worth a read.

She says that because no one would answer the phone for the minority banks at the Treasury. So, not only is it Bush's fault - the Treasury is Racist.

Although I voted for Obama and generally still support him, he is beginning to annoy me with the economy not improving and the manner in which he allows foreign leaders to criticize the U.S. in State speeches. Let alone his endorsement of the Mosque in NYC next to where the WTC stood.

As for blaming Bush, it is true the initial economic predicament we were and are in is indeed a result of Bush/Cheney policies. But his policies have not helped either. So, at some point he needs to man up and try some compromising with the Republicans to get things back on track.

Mitt Romney is beginning to look pretty good to me if he runs in 2012, even though I'm not a fan of Romney's social policies.

As for Waters and Rangel, they have only themselves to blame - not Bush/Cheney, Clinton, Ronald Reagan or Carter - only themselves for the situation they are in.

Sure why should we allow a Mosque to be built? Fuck the Constitution and all that "freedom of religion" bullshit.

What the Founding Fathers really meant was "freedom to be white Christians - everyone else be damned"

Do you also oppose Christian churches being built near any place the KKK used to lynch people?

Isn't this the whole reason that Arizona passed SB1070? Becuase they kept asking the Federal government for help and they weren't getting it?

Now, I don't recall hearing what Maxine Waters' opinion on SB1070 is. But I'm guessing she was against it. So then, why does she think it's okay for her to do something when the government dragged its feet, but it's not okay for Arizona to do the same thing?

As for the constant blaming of Bush for everything... I think Bush did a pretty terrible job getting us into this mess. But Obama has just taken all of that and made it worse. His kneejerk reaction for a year and a half has just been to point his finger backwards. But I think he's running out of rope with this. People will only buy the "It's not my fault" gag for so long...

so far I'm entirely with MrsCoby on this :)

I do think it's a bit of a slap in the face to build that mosque where it is proposed but I don't see it as the gov'ts place to stop it on no legal ground whatsoever ... and, btw, that's what I've heard Obama saying in the couple things I've seen; he doesn't 'approve' of the mosque being there but says it's not illegal and therefore not the business of the gov't to do anything about it ...

and I don't think things are worse with Obama ... I think many things have gotten slightly better in the past year ... BUT, I do think that many people on both sides (rep and dem) expected some sort of miracle worker results and all would be fixed in no time at all ... and while Obama was running and looking like he might actually win I started thinking that's probably what the GOP wanted anyways so they could badger him for not fixing things (fast enough) and stirring up hornets the entire time in hopes of getting somebody less crazy than Palin to run the next time around ...

I agree that it's not illegal to build the mosque. I think it's a horrible idea that will likely, at least in the short run, create more problems. I think it is the wrong time, the wrong place, etc. I think it's bad judgement, but stupidity never has been illegal.

As for the economy, I don't think Obama has made it worse. I also don't think GW made it bad to start with. The President is not as powerful as the populus believes with respect to the economy. Congress passes tax laws, that has an impact, but the recession was caused more by greed on the part of executives AND consumers, who want it all now and don't want to wait. It was caused by irresponsibility by regular consumers who wanted to buy everything on credit and bankers / lenders who wanted to lend irresponsibly just so they can grow and get paid higher bonus / commissions. I certainly don't blame any President for that.

Recessions happen. They are a normal part of the economic cycle. This recession will get better but it will happen on its own. It won't be the result of a policy, or of a stimulus (In my opinion that delays the natural healing of the economy). It will happen as consumers adjust their mindset about what is attainable and when it is attainable; also when lending institutions adjust their mindset that "grow and go" is not the answer.

So, I don't think President Obama has hurt the economy. I don't think he has helped it either. I really don't think he is in the position to do much other than talk about it. Which he seems to be really good at. :)

I think you have the essence of what is obviously not understood by most. The president has a ton of power in times of national emergencies, but much less than that in normal times. He is, however, the face of the party he represents. In the past...probably up until Nixon... I believe the president was the face of the PEOPLE he represented.

The real issue that confronts the USA is that in the past legislators on both sides of the aisle worked to get things done. There was a bunch of "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours". Nowadays that is not so easy because the day after the election the campaigning starts for the next one so the opposite party must ALWAYS be seen as the enemy...evil and made up of total idiots.

Interesting to think that lots of people truly believe that the OTHER party is only made up of complete morons, crimminals, and n'er do wells. People, there are right smart folks in both parties and if they ever had an opportunity to work together it could be helpful. I do not see that happening though and the USA trends downward while everyone points the finger at someone else because they know for sure that it wasn't their fault.
