Ugh, I love snow, but not for running through. I bet that gave your calves an extra w/o, Mariposai. Good job.

Good Morning Nancy and Mike.

I don't have pics Nancy. I didn't bring my camera and actually, now that I think of it, I don't even recall anyone from my office snapping pics.

Nice that Lab got to pop in and see Dove yesterday. Funny about the grown up clothes.

Should be another unseasonably warm day here - close to 60, but rainy. But I'm taking a rest day today so that worked out fine. I have a long day of work ahead of me - probably won't get home until about 7:30 tonight. My parents are probably sitting at PDX right now, waiting for their flight to Maui. . . . sigh, Maui would sure be nice about now. beach, sand, sun, little umbrellas. . .

maui is where we're building the next new solar telescope tamster. it's a nice place to visit, but i wouldn't want to live there.

14mi 8:30 pace ez in racing flats. last june in san diego, besides being out of shape, my feet and calves weren't used to my racing flats and complained. not planning to make either of those mistakes in january in phoenix. pseudo-progression run from 9:06 to 7:46, just wiping away more of the past weekend's cob-webs.

DW & I will visit Maui on our cruise spring break to celebrate our 20th anniversary, which is 12/28. No running for me to report today as my body needs one of my two rest days.

Brooke & I are putting my spring schedule together & it's pretty exciting. I'm close to a decision on the RnR Dallas Half 3/27 and there will be some local races before then.

Hi Mari, Opie, Mike, MC, KS, and Tamster!

Hope that knee's getting better, KS.

Went for a rare RAL to catch a few rays of sunshine. Been feeling a bit like a mole these days, to work and back in the dark, office with no window.

3.8 miles, -4°C (-12° with windchill), with my pace all over the place. Felt like I was pushing it at one point and the garmin had a 10:15 pace. 10 minutes later, on a very slightly downhill path, I was cruising comfortably and glanced at the watch.... 8:15!

Enjoy the day everyone!

Hi Heme. Tell them you need a window. You deserve it! I have a couple so if they don't, I'll send you one, shipping COD of course.

eta-OM, that brings back great memories from when I was, about, what 17, and laughing hysterically!

It was slow going for me today, wasn't sure if the inertia demon would win out and I wouldn't run at all... but as it turns out, I finally did get out the door. Had a couple CDs to pick up at the library, but wanted to run something more than just 3ish miles, so I meandered through town and managed to eke out 6. Based on an article that Opie linked to in the weekly, I practiced my running form today with emphasis on my glutes and hamstrings. Sort of looked like this.

Happy hump day, all.

Opie, I've worked for this company for 31 years, and had an office with a window for all of 9 months (not counting my years in the lab with a window WAY down on the other end). Don't know what I'd do with it if I had one! Probably watch the squirrels! Still beats working in a cube farm!

McSolar, I'm going to be in AZ the weekend of the RNR. I'm trying my best to stay away from megamarathons, but PF Changs just might suck me in. (or maybe I'll spend the day running trails out in Fountain Hiils!) A meet up of some sort may be in order.

No achy parts but I found my level of fitness after 3 days of running up a psuedo mountain. Today I was up to 12% incline. I ran pretty much the same pace the first 40 minutes, but knew I was working a lot harder by my heartrate that I measure every 10 minutes. I was already at 157 at 40 minutes compared to 147 yesterday at 11% incline. I increased the pace to 11:19 for the next 10 minutes and bonked at 50 minutes. Heartrate had creaped near 95% so I cut the pace back to 12:00/mile for 5 mnutes and then finished the last 5 minutes strong. Ended up with 5.13 miles (11:39/mle) and 3,250 elevation gain.
