Morning all.

At work early trying to get stuff done before our end of fiscal year tomorrow. Doing some practice spreadsheets just to make sure things work swimmingly.

C and I took down almost half of a field stone and cement wall last night. I was the one lugging the 5 gallon pails up the stairs from the basement. I kind of feel like Gumby today in the arms. I can pretty much say for certain that my arms streatched 2 inches last night

Well I hope we all have a fantastic day!!!

Wippy, between last night's work and an early am, sounds like you are going to be needing a nap around 3 pm! :)

My alarm went off at 4:20 this morning, but I pushed snooze way too many times. Sipping on coffee and getting ready to go out for 12 miles.... That's all. Not a lot planned today.

GOTR was fun last night, but boy were those girls fired up! I think I may have suffered some permanent hearing loss after all the cheering they were doing for a relay race we did. Every night we end with "energy awards" and often times the girls make up little cheers. Last night, 2 of them made up "The Coach Mindi Award" and it was awesome and funny.

Congrats Craney.

butt tape and 3 this morning.

Neighbor Lydia stopped by.... UG. She was the one neighbor I've kind of been avoiding. She was sobbing before I even opened the door, which was why I was avoiding her. She is such a HUGE animal lover.... I knew it was going to be rough.

Anyway.

I remembered to shut & lock the door last night, so that's something.

Thoughts out to KP and Tonya today, too. Hope things went OK for Lori and the kiddo yesterday.

Oh, Sage had a big cyst removed from the back of her leg yesterday. She's doing OK.

Continued good thoughts to Moe and Brandy and Theia and someone else's granna, too...was it Kris? I'm sorry I've forgotten.

Sometimes the toughest part of grief, Kath, is handling everyone else's reactions aside from your own. :(

Thanks everyone for the props!! I love to write and I've now had three publications within the year, so that feels like I'm OK at it.

Has anyone else been eating a lot lately? Sheesh. I'm just a pig and it's starting to show in my pants. Time to turn the chow wagon around.

My work place is offering a little 5k on Sat Morning, but I'm supposed to run the 10 miler next weekend. However, I'm being asked to participate and I"m not sure it's a good idea, but it's also only a 5k. However, I know myself. I rarely not race when racing.

Hugs to all. Rest day today for me!

Me!! With our kitchen torn all to heck it's been very challenging to eat even somewhat healthy. I confess that I didn't think it was going to be this hard. And combine that with the little bit of running...Ugh.

Thanks. I'm working on the rest. I actually wrote up a Race Report yesterday. Now I need to sift thru all the pictures I took and get everything together. Hopefully I'll do that tonight. A couple of you asked about the pic I took while I was getting my picture taken in the one I posted last night. Unfortunately, that one didn't come out very good. It's hard to take a pic of yourself while running forward and turned around like that. I only got a portion of my head, and a whole bunch of gray sky. I always try to get myself crossing under the finish line banner, but I miss at least half the time. Oh well.

I am still rather creaky. I think we might be beyond soreness from the race. I think I might really have tweaked something. So after a couple days of easy recovery runs, I think I need to take a day off completely today to rest up. Oh well...

Greetings, all.

No news here, really. I got 4m on the treadmill, and without the cut-too-short-toenail on the pinky toe giving me a fit. Whew. Meant to get 5M in, but my movie finished at 4, and I didn't want to run with the credits flipping through. :)

Today will probably be 5M.

I was just thinking this this morning. I am the heaviest I've ever been. Being laid up with the back has not been good for my waistline, for sure! I'm hoping to do a nice easy walk on Monday and pick up the exercise from there. In related news, my back feels soooooo much better. I'm still going to use the cane today since I have a lot of walking between classes, but I may try to stand some during class and I don't think I'll need so many breaks to lie down on my floor in my office.

Flaked on some class-related stuff that I have to complete this morning, but I did get ahead on another class, so at least I'm managing my time well. Plus, I'm adding a ton of stickers to my date book. I get to add them for work completed. This is the beginning of last week, but it makes me smile every time I look at it:

I got back on my training schedule for NYC this week. Feels good, so far.

The weather's been gorgeous here lately. Kinda wish we had nicer weather all summer, but I'll take what I can get now.

Hmm...what else...

Maria, thanks again for the NYC info the other day! I'm glad you guys will be around to be our tour guides, this will be way fun! You'll get to meet DH this time, too, because he's coming along. And my mom. And it looks like one of my sisters will be joining us. So that'll be neat! Can't wait to see you again and meet Missy!

Oh, Georgia peeps...years ago I visited a friend of mine who lived in Dahlonega. I remember seeing all this greenery around the area, kinda like big philodendrons or something. It was like vines and it took over certain areas. I can't remember the name of it, though.

morning. It's been quite a week. <---- I know, understatement...

Wip - I just sent you a PM about your email, then came into the thread and saw Kath's post. :)

I'm loving that my running is coming back this week, but I also feel a sense of imbalance that I'm not swimming and biking as much (or at all, this week!). Weird.

Took my nephew to the group run last night again. Just one mile, but as he was holding my hand as we walked home, I asked him if he likes doing this -- because I don't him to feel like he HAS to do it. He said, "I like it." :)

Yes it overtakes EVERYTHING if not kept in check. Lots of herbicide or a bunch of goats are the only way to keep it under control, really.

Morning

Melis - do the 5k ..you'll be fine. Race it too. I always race a 5k the week before a full marathon :) - it gets you primed and ready to go but doesn't beat you up. BIG GIRL PANTIES TIME!

Bob- I would be creaky too

Kath - continued hugs

Running -

did 9.5 last night at hyland. went slower and had a good talk with a friend. We were a bit too slow though and had to walk a couple small stretches at the end due to not being able to see a thing

maybe some recovery tonight. I have a 10 miler this weekend that I am planning on hammering so I want to make sure I feel good. Right now - I feel like a pile

Melis - as far as the 5K, I completely echo what Brandy said.

Pants? Woot, mine are loose these days and I am feeling like a lean, mean fighting machine! Tracking stuff on Calorie Count has really opened my eyes to some of the things I was eating. For example, DH and I often get subs for lunch. Cousins subs however, have about 300 more calories than Milios (our other option). And, I have started bringing in lunch, which is much better.

I ran 12 this morning and it kicked ass! My HR was nice and low and average pace was 8:34, with last mile the fastest mile (7:49).

Go Crane go! Give yourself permission to race the 5K if you're feeling good or just run it as a training run if that's what you're feeling that day. You don't have to decide right now.

Brandy, you're a machine. 9.5 last night and you're hammering a 10-miler this weekend? Does not compute.

Still very foggy and groggy... I know, I know... Call the damn doctor. I mean to, and then I get wrapped up in other stuff at work and completely forget to do it.

Also very sore from class yesterday morning. We did 50 of each (in this order) with jumping jacks and running in between -- squats, lunges, pushups, step-ups, dips, burpees, and crunches. Oof. No workout this morning, so I'll have to do something later if I feel up to it. Right now, I can't imagine doing anything except going back home and crawling into bed.

When is the NYC Marathon? I wanna go! I had so much fun spectating the two years I went up for it.

Love and prayers to KP and T today.

Theia, NYCM is Nov. 6. Won't be long now!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Kudzu...yes! It's so pretty, but I can see how it would cause a lot of grief for people. I loved Dahlonega, so pretty!

Yes...I've been eating a ton of food lately, too. I was afraid to step on the scale, thinking I must have packed on a bunch of pounds. But I checked this morning and I'm holding steady so I'm good. Whew! Still, I need to make sure I don't eat too much of everything. DH works at a dairy and he's forever bringing home yummy icecream treats. So hard to resist when they're in the house!

QOD: What is your favorite icecream? I used to love peppermint but lately I've had a thing for one called Toffee Almond Chill. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

morning peeps.

I don't think I mentioned my back's been a wreck for a couple weeks. Well...I wore heels to the wedding the other day and it felt better. Wore them again yesterday...and woke up in no pain, for the first time in ages. So, I think it's my flats that are doing me in. Sigh. I'm going to try some insoles and see if that helps since I JUST bought them and I paid a lot for them and they're cute. Dammit.

We are swamped here at work with major presidential, VP and director trips overseas to meet prospective donors. Sigh.

Maureen, sometimes we have to suffer for our fashion! :) Hope the insoles help.

QOD The shore town where my family has vacationed since I was 6 has a place that makes homemade ice cream. It is THE BEST ice cream in the world. The flavor I always get -- which is odd because this is not a flavor that I crave in any other treat or any other time of the year AND because I always prefer crunchy things in my ice cream -- is butterscotch. It is the creamiest, most delicious thing ever. Butterscotch ice cream on a sugar cone... I'm drooling. The rest of the year, I like chocolate chip ice cream. (See? Crunchies.)

Clare, I'm marking my calendar. Hopefully I can come cheer for you and TimR!
