Hey ya'll,

Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes the other day! I've been just kind of lurking here and there but mostly I've just been doing school work and sleeping. Keep up the good work! I can't wait to be back with ya'll, running and such.

Liz- Glad the ankle is feeling better.

Please pray for students at NIU. If you didn't hear there was a shooting at their college yesterday, I think 7 dead including the gunman and about 20 injured. It drug a lot of stuff up from last year which all kind of hit me in one wave, and it was kind of overwhelming. I know what they're going through and I know what they will go through and its going to be tough, so please have them in your thoughts and prayers.

Good morning all.

Still too icy for the trails this morning, so did an easy 6 on the roads instead at 7:25 pace.

I heard about the shootings this morning on NPR - very sad news...

Good morning everyone. No running for me today. Since it is a cutback week I am taking it easy today. Tomorrow I have 7 or 8 miles planned and I hope it goes well.

Megs, Liz, Nirvana and anyone else on the Iinjured Reserve get better soon. Have a great morning everyone.

Enjoy the 5's Alex and Asics.

Hope you can get back to running soon Megs.

Awesome Milestone Richard!

How fast are your races Loopy? I thought I remembered you going for a sub 3 marathon as your goal, but with that fast of a pace as your easy pace, I'm starting to think I was mistaken...

Easy 7 for me last night. Much easier when I don't load up on greasy foods right before. Looking at 10ish tonight, then I'd like to finally get something resembling a real long run in on Saturday. Hopefully 16+, but we'll see how it goes.

Good Morning

Megs - Was thinking about you yesterday and hoping the shootings didn't stir up too much of your own memories!

richard - ouch, not good losing the ring. hope you find it.

Yeah sub-3 is my goal but I am not sure how much sub-3 I am going to shoot for.

My PR is 3:02:50 set in September. Back then my easy pace was more like 8:00. I ran a 50k a month after that marathon and took it pretty easy for a month or so after the 50k, running mostly trails. When I started training seriously again 7:30ish was suddenly my easy pace - not sure what happened.

My most recent marathon was in January, but I did the Goofy - HM on Saturday, Full on Sunday. My times were 1:27:59 / 3:08:02. Not really sure what that equates to for a normal marathon...

There are 2 local 10 milers coming up in March and April and I hope to run at least one if not both of them. So hopefully that will give me a better idea of a reasonable goal for Boston.

Sorry to ramble on....

Sorry Richard -- hope you can find it. That has happened to me several times. It is a little loose even after a resizing.

The best was the time that I was washing my hands in the bathroom at work. I suddenly saw a stink bug on my hand and flicked my hand to get it off. The ring flew off my soapy finger, out the open window, and onto the roof! Had to go climbing out there to get it...

Not too much progress to report here. I'm happy to say I'm walking normally again, although any time on my feet longer than 20 consecutive minutes is still pretty painful. Getting better day by day. Shooting for a February 25th comeback to exercise, and an early March comeback to running.

Liz--sorry, missed that you were injured!

Megs--do take care of yourself. I had mono and didn't, then it progressed into Chronic Viral Fatigue Syndrome. NOT FUN!!!

Nirvana--um, that last time you came to town wasn't I injured? Maybe one of these days we can get in synch and actually run together!

Run only for me this morning. Had trouble getting out of bed, then had a jumpy stomach. Decided to run from home, and did one of my favorite runs. Very enjoyable! HR was way too high, though. Got home and promptly got sick to my stomach... 5.76m, 50:30, 8:46pace.

You must be thinking of somebody else. I've never been to Columbus before. I'm actually looking forward to it, although I really wish that OSU or the Blue Jackets were playing while I'm there. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much going on for the time I'm there. Oh well, I can't argue with company provided meals at least!

Ten miles for me today on the roads. There was a brutally cold wind today, which hit me hard by around mile 6 and kept me company all the way home. The goal for the run was to be between 9:30 and 10:00 average, and I came in at 9:47, though that is not with even pacing.

I took two days off this week so it's a short mileage week in terms of running, but we're headed north for a weekend of cross country skiing. I figure that's sort of like running, except on the snow.

See you all Monday evening!

A quick good afternoon for now. I'm working from home, but I have something to get out today, so I may or may not get to take advantage of the nice weather outside.

I'm planning on an easy run of about 7. Tomorrow is long run day...18 miles on the menu.

BTW, if anyone is interested our home-cooked Valentine's Day feast turned out to be excellent. Rachel Ray rocks! Try our meal out for yourself here. The only change to it was that we used mahi-mahi instead of tuna since we had some of the former on hand already.
