I see a bunch of people are on and it is already 8 am, so this may be a doublt (triple?) thread start.

If not, morning folks.

COLD here. I slept in because: (1) I wanted to sleep in; and (2) I am sick of 30 and 50 minute runs. So I'll run 80 tomorrow. I need to talk to coach about upping the ante a bit.

Oh, and my damn Garmin is wonky. The computer won't recognize it at all (and annoyingly keeps telling me that). Looks like it is probably the device after Googling around. Anyone have this problem before?

LOVE LOVE LOVE Ail's Christmas card! (Need to get on ours....)

James has a big project today so I am working at home this morning and going to his school after lunch. Can't wait.

And since I brought it up! ha. How do we want to do this? Teams? Start on Monday? Do we want challenges or just accountibility or what we're eating?

Aw, cute pic!

Well, yesterday was a wacky, wild, Koolaid style kinda day around here. We got hit with a weather bomb. Very high winds and rain. The winds took the roofs off some buildings and they evacuated the downtown, including my building. So I got to go home early. Debris everywhere. I don't think anyone was hurt, just a lot of property and vehicle damage.

DH's work party this weekend, should be fun. It's always nice to get out for a bit.

Cute pic, Kath. My parents have dug up a bunch of old pictues of me. Next time I'm there, I'll make sure to get copies...

I did a 7 miles fartlek last night. I don't know why, but for some reason, fartleks make the time pass quicker than any other kind of run. Maybe I should do them more often... Anyway, this run put me just over 1500 miles for the year. So if I can do another 110 or so before the end of the year, I can set a new record. In the heart of marathon season, I think I can swing that. Maybe not by much though...

I had a few friends over for dinner last night. Nobody left until 1 am (we see each other about once a year) and the friend who was staying the night and I then stayed up until after 2:30. I'm more awake than I thought I'd be at this moment, but I expect I'll hit a wall at some point today.

Kid pics? Here are a few from when I was little.

My great-grandmother who immigrated from Poland is holding me here, with my older sister and brothers around. She lived until she was just shy of her 100th birthday. She died on my 1st day of college. She used to crochet afghans so in a way I am following in her footsteps with the crochet I do now.

Yes, cute pic! My great-uncle-in-law and I (primarily I) have been playing on ancestry.com since Thanksgiving to put together a family tree. Lots of fun stuff and photos. It is crazy addictive but learning lots of fun stuff. I think some day my kids will thank me for it too.

DH is having a minor surgery at 2:30, so I'm out of here after our holiday carry-in. I brought a fruit tray from Sam's. It's been that kind of week. I have a conference call to get through before that.

Fort Hose of you doing the 30 day shred- is this the only thing you're doing? Or are you running and/or lifting weights in addition? The reason I ask is that I own that DVD and have done it precisely once. I thought it was good, but for some reason I haven't done it again. However, since I'm doing some other things (spinning, Bikram yoga, a bit of running- I don't want to overdo it). Thoughts from Brandy or Missy? Anyone else doing it?

I am going to try to do it 2 x per week. I run normally every day. I lift hard 1 day. I am looking to add in yoga but haven't yet so I can't comment on that.

Morning, friends. I want to go back to bed, though I feel a little bit more human today than I felt yesterday. I'm just in slug mode regardless of the fact that I have a ton of stuff to do. Ah, well.

NCRG, just to clarify...I wasn't mad when I posted last night. I too am very sad that I didn't have a real date last night. And I appreciate all the enthusiasm. I'll channel that into sending off sexy vibes to see if I can get a real date.

Kath, thanks for volunteering to do the challenge. We could do it like the Kick WLC which involved teams, points for losing, points for maintaining, and negative points for gaining. Bonus point for the week's BL. Only the team captains actually get people's weight so if people don't want to share publicly, they don't have to. If people have eating goals or fitness goals, we can figure out a way to add those into the point system. Or we could do all that without teams and just see who does the best by the end. Or something else. I really need this.

Holiday party at work today. It's basically Thanksgiving dinner, so there's a lot I skip.

Totally scattered.

Morning all! Another morning where I definitely wanted to stay in bed vs. getting up and going out for a run despite the quality zzzs I got. However I was meeting friends so I pulled it together and logged a lovely 6.95 mi mostly around the reservoir; gorgeous morning too!

Love the pictures and LOVE the genealogy stuff too, I started up a big family tree on ancestry.com several years back, need to revisit that.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? Tonight is book club (Steve Jobs book) and tomorrow evening I get to have dinner w/Theia & GoV!!!

I haven't been to ancestry.com, but I have an account with geni.com. My dad had done a lot of genaeological research, and this site has allowed me to expand the family tree quite a lot. And yes, I can trace the route by which Duck and I are related...

I don't have many kid pics of myself, but I do have one (well, two, actually) of me in a cast, just like Prae!

You and Duck are related, bOb? Whoa - small world.

If we go back far enough, my boys may be related to Theia. :)

a great-uncle (I think) of my Dad's did the Parker family tree all the way back to an original settler of South Carolina and wrote it up back in 1971. My parents' copy is still at their house. My sister is supposed to scan it for us, even though I'm not even listed.

There are a bunch of locations, KP: http://www.nationalconeyisland.com/Locations/

DH's family tree was not researched, so it has been fun, yet challenging. It doesn't help that their last name changed when they arrived in America in the early 1900s. And no one agrees on various spellings. And, of course, people went by Americanized names, such as "Sam" rather than Sarando or Sotero. Haha - and lots of the older living relatives disagree on dates/spelling. It has been a fun way to connect with a bunch of people though and ancestry has some cool military/immigration documents.
