I was able to crank out another 6.x miles with an average pace of 9"26. My pace really sucks right now but I am blaming it all on the humidity. HOPEFULLY, when the weather starts cooling off my pace will improve.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Nice job FB -- hope it cools down for you soon...

Good luck with the 12 BBS.

I added an extra mile out and an extra mile back to stretch my mountain road run to 10 miles. Still feeling very good... running without a watch has really helped me keep it nice and easy while I build my base back up...

Fishbowl again for me this morning. Couple of bunnies to chase. Not sure if that helped or not!

I posted a thread over in MS yesterday, but since y'all probably don't wander over there, here's the link to the youtube-- http://www.youtube.com/user/HFPracing1#g/u . It's a long video showing clips of Buckeye Challenge tri. If you want to skip ahead, there's a quick clip of me around 5:50. Royal blue Voler trisuit, right as I'm getting on the bike.

Well, I've hit a wall this week. Body's still tired. Won't run today and I'm not going to run tomorrow unless I feel totally rested. A bit frustrated after a string of good weeks.

FlBoiler -- Nothing sucks the speed more than humidity (and wind). Good job.

BBS -- Excited for your training cycle. Enjoy that 12.

loopy -- Let me say again how nice it is to have you back on a daily basis.

Zrun -- Nice recovery run, Gumby.

4boys -- Cool action video! Thank you for sharing. :)

Dan -- A little down day amid a bunch of good ones. No biggie. You'll be back at it this weekend, I'll bet.

Kevin -- Rest yer bones.

Me -- Recovery double yesterday in the heat after Wednesday's hot and draining 15. 12 on tap for today. Recovery tomorrow, then Sunday I'm doing a 30K race called the "Payette Lake Run" in beautiful McCall. Gonna use it as a pace run. Couple hundred participants. Should be great fun.

Morning folks...

Looking forward to the 3-day weekend. No races scheduled though I could jump in a Master's track meet tomorrow if I feel like it. Right now I think I'd rather just do the 20-miler I've got on the sked. Earl's bringing some much needed cooler weather in starting tomorrow and that makes it the perfect day for a long run. With all the humidity we've had this summer I'd have to be a fool to let such an opportunity pass.

Today - not sure but keeping an open mind. I could go midday with the work buddy again or hit the trails on the way home this evening. Or maybe both.

Funny story - well amusing anyway. I signed up the MCM 10k on 10/31. That's the 10k companion to the much more famous marathon race, and I'm using it as my final polishing/tuneup for New York, which is the following weekend. When I did the app, I put my "estimated time" down as 39:00 -- a little ambitious but well within the realm of possibilities. Then yesterday I got an email from the race organizer asking for verification, because that time would put me in the elites. That's a little flattering, but since when is 39:00 an elite 10k time? Truly elite 10k would be more like 29:00, not 39:00. So I sent the guy my recent PR at several races - I don't have any good 10k results to send because I haven't done many - and used McMillan's calculator to project my time. Using that method consistently put me at about 39:30. So who knows, I just might be lining up with the really big boys & girls (who no doubt will wonder what the hell I'm doing there).

FB - agree on the humidity. This summer has been a boiler and I usually like the summer.

BBS/JD - hope the dozen went down well.

loopy - nice base building

zrun - going long tomorrow?

4bm - we have bunnies at home as pets. But they don't swim very well.

Dan - there's always ups and downs on the road back. Get 'em tomorrow.

kevin - good luck on the 10k

Chances - something tells me you're going come away from your little pace run tomorrow with some hardware.

Nice going all.

I took the day off work to recover from our 5th anniversary dinner last night. Planning get in an easy 10 this afternoon. This week has been very light on miles. A storm blew through and dropped the temps be 20F... hopefully it'll hold through Monday to give me a shot at a decent HM time. The is at the same location as the 5k I won in 2008. Fat chance of winning the HM...

Hawk - do we have to call you Sir Hawk since you are now in the elite?

Hawk -- Whaddayamean? You've always been elite in my book. Go hang with the big dogs in the tall weeds.

My 12 went okay. I'm tired of the heat. And if I get any more direct sun on my body, folks are going to mistake me for some exotic Mediterranean sort. Can't have that.
