Very nice run ks! Is that your long run for the week, or are you planning something even more grand this weekend?

Donut day....mmmm. Since I ran yesterday (another whopping 3 miles!), no run today. I'll probably swim later this evening, but it appears my motivation eloped with choovie's and wandered up to Nanaimo to find some pie in one of their bars. Or something like that...

I wonder how much fun Susan had last night since we haven't seen her yet!

Nice runs fellas,
Lab, sounds like your foot's hanging in there well.

IRC and IAC (ideal autumn colors) too.
6 miles mostly GA, felt good.
Yesterday's run was sorta tough on me, and I figured pay today.
But not so. I warmed up about 10 minutes on the elliptical, and walked about 3 furlongs to the trail head. Walking warms up my foot better than the elliptical alone. After 2 miles warmup I stopped and stretched, then carried on.

Cloudy with intermittent drizzle
wow KS, nice run!
JJJ you must be on the cool side of the front.. nice GA

It was steamy this morning, I just get mentally dragged down when I face very humid 71 F at 4:30 AM (as in off/on light rain and no wind). [I thiought it was Fall??] So I HAD to tone down my tempo run, shorter distance and slower pace but HR in the tempo zone (169 average for 5 miles). Overall 7 mi @8:09 pace, not fun, I think my legs filled with lactic acid somewhere along the way . At least no injuries . Back to fight another day...

Morning to all,
good run ks, you and millbot amaze me as usually you've both knocked out at least 8-10 miles before I even get out of bed!! and you're only 1 or maybe 2 time zones over.

Will attempt to go to the gym sometime this afternoon if I can finish some work first.

Susan - eagerly awaiting report re: The boss @ the garden, that's the whole E Street Band right??

Hi everyone,
The concert was amazing - but long. It was supposed to start at 7:30pm but didn't start until 8:30pm instead. No opening act. He sang for 2-1/2 hours straight, lots of stuff from his new album. There were 10 people onstage, including the whole E street band. It's amazing to hear over 17,000 people singing along to Born to Run! The energy in the garden was so strong it felt like the building was vibrating. We had a blast, but didn't get home till almost 2am and I was completely and utterly wiped out. Luckily, no work today (working tomorrow instead). I did do a yoga class at 10:30 this morning; modified to accommodate my injured calf. Felt really good to stretch, though, even with the slight adjustments.

No more concerts for a while, we're broke after the Tori Amos one and then Springsteen less than a week later.

Good runs to all of you. Ksrunr, I can't believe the milage you put in! You're my hero.

Adding my 'atta boy' on ksrunr's long run!

Actually, I am only here to check Johnny's attitude today but I can't quite get a feel for how he's doing. That "attempt to go the gym" comment makes me nervous...

Mcsolar, uh...OW... but thanks for bending me over and planting your size 11 boot on my arse. I managed to get in whopping 4 miles before yoga class. I am happy to say between my short run yesterday and a Kick @ss Yoga Class (hey, that rhymes!) my attitude is much improved.

Looks like we could be in for a cold, rainy, muddy, 10k race tomorrow so I'm not gonna worry about finish time. Maybe I'll even leave the Garmin at home. Afterwards, a group of us are headed to a nearby cabin of a running club member. They are hosting a post-race chili potluck for anyone who wants to attend. Sounds fun!

Thanks for the concern, choovie, but Johnny is relatively fine today, from time to time he gets...........er frustrated with the real world and becomes quite surly and grumpy in his old age, eventually to recover back to semi human status, although why we keep doing this is beyond me.

Save some of that chilli for me. Your race sounds like a lot of fun. Is mrchoovie doing the race also??

Too many Hells Angels in Nanaimo bars.

Attaguys to ksrnr, to Lab for not being a wuss, to choovie for getting out there, to MS for knowing when to stop (you okay?), and to mc for making a grand (re)entrance to mock us ("dang rebels" and to pass gas in our living room.

Hey, pie, did you kick that cold? Pro, you?
billmot, I understand that kohlrabi is a good substitute for carrot in your favourite cake.

Go get 'em, Tammy and Road Hawk! All racers, give 'er.

I went to the gym. One exercise I'll share: I elevate the Bosu about 25cms (on a wooden box) and do step-ups with dumbbells, freezing a "sprinter's" pose for 3 secs, stepping down and back immediately with the other foot. Only need to do 6 three times.

It's been a step-back week and I'm antsy to git going again.

I think you need to be a bit shorter to get any real work as a model for running trophies.

The cold is finally starting to wane, ty. Been a week of short easy runs, but perhaps I can stretch it out this weekend.

{{cargi}}} I hope you get well soon.

I'm exhausted, and it's not from running. My mom is coming for a visit (to celebrate the kids' bday this week) and I've been working my @ss off. I'm a pretty horrible housekeeper, so I've had lots of picking up and organizing to do. If I hadn't hired a cleaning service to do the real cleaning, I'd have been up a creek. This is the worst I've ever let my house get. I don't like to make excuses, but this summer just kicked my butt - what with all the headaches I had for 2 straight months. Once I lost momentum, it was just hard to regain. (Happily, the migraine preventative I'm on is helping a lot).

Susan, I was thinking about you this morning when I was having my coffee. I'm glad to hear you had such a great time! What an experience.

Johnny, don't let the real world get you down. Nobody likes a grumpy Johnny. (This my boss just reminded me last week...nobody likes a grumpy Marie, either.)

I'm sending gigantic best wishes for good races this weekend: Tammy, Choovie, MrC, Johnny and everyone else. Have fun.

ETA: I did run today: 3 miles + 1 mile w/u and c/d walking.

Hey there, JohnnyB! Sorry, fresh out of pie at my place. We'll be trying the apple recipe this weekend, but I don't expect that to last either. How about some Pie Jones? He's around from time to time.

It's going. I'm getting those bizarre erratic aches and pains that surface and disappear. I'm looking forward to getting my race on. I usually post on RMs&Ds but gotta miz it up a bit right.
