Morning peeps!

It is crazy cold, snowy and windy here, so I am working on my willpower to hit the treadmill. It sucks though because somehow I managed to hurt my back yesterday. While I was running up a big hill, I felt a big sharp pain in the left middle of my back. I actually stopped for a second, stretched my arms out, and then kept going. I just assumed it was because I was feeling kind of gassy. Well, post run, the area was kind of sore. This morning, I woke up and holy heck was it sore. Boo. WTH?! I've never had back problems of any kind before and it seems like a really weird spot. Should make for a very interesting (read the suck) 80 minute treadmill run. Boo.

Hope you all are doing well. Any fun plans for the weekend? Who is all going to Houston? Timr, Maria - anyone else?

Happy Friday to you all.

Greetings, all.

I was a bad girl and ate far too many nachos for supper last night. Oopsie.

Weights/core yesterday. Wimped out on the run, so I'll get that made up tonight. zzzz

Brr it's cold today. Yesterday the high was around 60 something I think. Today we'll be around 42. Tomorrow, my outdoors run will probably start around 28 degrees. That's COLD for this GA chic! :)

RiL: got a heating pad? That might help the back issue for a little bit.

Fun: Maureen is coming today. And the little monster finishes kindergarten tonight.

Weather: it's @19° here today, and windy. Haven't heard tempwith-wind-chill yet. We only got a little snow, but it rained a good bit yesterday, so under the little bit of snow is a fair bit of ice. yeehaw.

Morning all! Was hoping to get in a short run pre-flight today but, as usual, I've procrastinated and am just finishing up packing now. Only have time to make a juice and shower before heading out. Hope I have some time once I land and hit the expo prior to dinner to squeeze in something of a run.

Good morning!

4-5 in of snow on the ground and the storm isn't done yet. Winter is back in the Mitten!

So today is an indoor day and I am planning on playing hookey from work.

Too bad I didn't plan my Winter marathon in time, or maybe I could be in Houston too. Instead, I'll be by myself in Phoenix. Actually, I've already been in touch with Frankie, and I'll meet up with him while I'm out there...

I got in an easy couple miles this morning. Now I've got a little more time to kill before i have to leave for the airport for my noon flight.

I'm not expecting much from this race. I think I'll be over 4 hours. I'm guessing in the 4:05 to 4:10 range. Whatever. Just check the state off...

I should be able to check in after I get into town. Good luck to all y'all in Houston and elsewhere!

Good news - my back didn't bug me while I was running and I got my 80 minutes in. I was scheduled for 4 striders too, but that seems weird on the TM, so I just did the last 5 minutes at goal MP (7:47). Was able to bust out 9.25 (8:41 average pace) - way better than I was expecting, so I'll take it. Big shout out to Queen, the Stones and Undercover (DH's band) for getting me through it. PSA, "Good Hearted Woman" (no clue who sings it, it is a country rock song DH's band covers) is awesome for getting that stride rate going.

Not looking forward to my commute - the roads are a mess here. And it isn't going to warm up any time soon, so I may be looking at a 17 miler on the TM this weekend. It is 13 or so degrees, but with the wind chill it is supposedly -1 or -2. Bleh.

Happy Friday the 13th!

I woke up to a wack of snow on the ground. It's perfect for making snowmen, too. I'm tempted to go out back of my building at lunch and make some on the boardwalk. That would be funny!

Throat is still sore but it's better than it was. I haven't been running much because of it. Ok, I haven't been running at all. It just hurt too much. But now that it's starting to come around I'll get back at it.

Ok, can you guys do me a big favour? There's a local insurance company doing a contest right now. You can vote for a number of non-profits and whoever wins gets a big break on their insurance with them. Mom's food bank/community kitchen is on the list and they've been going neck and neck with another group. I've been asking everyone I know to vote for mom's. You can vote once a day, I believe. www.bluenoseinsurance.com

That would be Waylon Jennings. The song was written by Waylon and Willie Nelson. I thought it was number one on the chart three times - solo, Waylon & Willie duo, and then by the Highwaymen (Waylon, Willie, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash), but I can't find any evidence of the third. That's it, I'll stop now and leave the random music facts to boB :)

Good luck to our Houston runners! My friend Lisa is running her first ever half-marathon there this weekend. She does a run-walk combo and she is doing it in her Vibram Five Fingers, I believe. She has tried to train for longer races before and never was able to stick with it (works long hours at her job, but also has had some injury stuff in the past). I am so proud of her this time because she stuck with it even through the beginning stages of a divorce. I really wish I could be down there to support her.

It's cold here, still only 18* (yes, warm compared to WI and MN I am sure) but I think today is supposed to be the worst of it. So far, Sunday is forecast to be dry and low 30's for high temps. That is moving day, so I am happy for dry weather particularly.

Good luck Houston peeps!!! And happy Friday to you all!!!

Skipped my run last night because I had a 2.5hour dentist appt where he inserted a piece of metal under my gum in an effort to separate my gum from my tooth/bone so he could seal a temp crown to my tooth. Yes, it was as painful as it sounds but the up side is ice cream for dinner Actually, no dinner at all, it was so painful. And I would do that anyway cause I am finally dropping some weight (almost 5 pounds since Jan 1) so need to keep it going!

Moe have a great visit with Kath!!! Safe travels!

Workout done!

5x 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 20 situps. for time. Very hard at the end for sure.

But that means that am perfect on my strength workouts for the last 2 weeks. I am not perfect on the cardio, but the knee dictates that.

OH and Mindi! Thanks for the mention of Waylon! I just purchased his Essential 2 disc CDs!

(I have a friend that named her first born Waylon :) )
