Good Morning,

Just my normal 5.2x mile run this morning, but wow what difference in terms of how I felt compared to yesterday when I ran at 12:30 in the afternoon. The times for the two runs were similar 50:10 yesterday and 49:53 today but yesterday by mile 1 my heart rate as around 160 and stayed there the entire run except when I took a walk break. this morning my heart rate stayed in the 140 range.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning FB.

Good luck at the races this weekend: RA, zrun, BBS, and jebba
Hawk, no races this weekend?

Welcome home Alex! Glad your vacation went so well.

Hey there zrun, welcome to the daily thread. You'll like this group. Guys, I met zrun at the Philly Marathon last fall. Thank you so much for the link to the stretches.

So, I biked again this morning, 10 miles. Last night the tendon in the bottom of my foot started aching, the one where my arch is. What is going on?? Biking, icing until this is taken care of. Not the way I wanted to start off my marathon training.

Good morning. Easy 5.6 this morning on a mixture of roads/grass + abs/strength. Early morning is the way to go FB! You're welcome, Jill, hopefully the foot stuff will settle down quickly.

Morning folks...

ZRun - Welcome to the hood!

Kevin - Hope that run went well.

Jill - Really sorry about the foot problems. Hope that heals quickly so you can get on with your training.

FB - Definitely a strong relationship between heat and heart rate. The morning run sounds much more fun.

Definitely a rest day for me today.

Good luck to the racers this weekend.

Jill- take care of them tootsies, hope you heal up soon

Kevin- Good luck with the run and the relaxing

Zrun- Welcome!

Dan- Enjoy the rest, you've earned it this week!

I think I'm going to take a rester today. Looking over my races I logged last year, looks like I faired better racing after a rest day on Friday. Kinda weird because when I take my typical Sunday off, my Monday runs feel sloggish.

I'm sure my wife will give me plenty to do between this A.M. and when I go to bed.... she's got that dumb shower here Sunday... so now her and DS prolly won't make it to my race tomorrow either! I ain't too crazy about this race... kinda tuff course, almost no shade, and last year I got hit-on after the race... by some dude! Luckily DW was there at arms reach! I can't say I blame the guy tho... I mean, I am pretty hot.

Morning all, quick post for now as I need to head to a little breakfast meeting with a business associate.

7 miles on the neighborhood trail for me this morning. Another humid slog. Heart rates were right where they should be for this type of run (in the 130s) but my pace was tortoise-like. It's gotta be the humidity.

Jill, no races this weekend. But I have to go 14 tomorrow as it's finally time to start doing long runs again. With the temps headed for triple digits tomorrow, I'll be on the treadmill.

Jill--is it the plantar fasia? Basically your arch? Mine flares up occasionally. It's from my shoes. Worst are flip flops. I've found that the Ace ankle bandage works wonders. It supports the arch/puts pressure on it or something. I only need it for a few hours and I see improvement.

FB--don't know how you can run in that heat!

zrun--welcome! Nice run this morning.

Dan--rest up.

BBS--be nice to the wife! Good luck on your race. And EUUWWWWW about being hit on......

Hawk--gotta love July..... I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow's long run! Overnight low will be 77*.

Fishbowl for me this morning. 2500m in 1:00:32. I'll be taking son1 to camp here in a bit. HS camp is only the weekend. We take son4 on Sunday for middle school camp, and son1 is staying as he's a counselor.

Probably an enforced rest day, which is not my normal day-before-race MO but I signed up late and I'm tired, sore and grumpy.

Hawk - humidity kills my pace too. The other day I slogged out 5 at 9mpm pace... Next day I was fine.

BBS - Were you wearing short shorts last year? This year, I have a feeling that you going to get stuck in traffic and miss the race...

Dan - rest up

zrun - that's what I should have done.

kfuller - enjoy the extra distance.

Jill - take care of that foot. If it's your arch, could be the post tib tendon. That got me. Ice. Use a foot roller.

FB - here the humidty is high in the morning and then fades but then you get higher temps and bright sunshine. I take the early run.

4boysmom - Nice fishing. PF typically has heel pain too

I am back from my run. Once I got up the hill going EAST and no longer had the sun right in my face I started to find my rythm. 8 miles in 1:08:11(8:31). It feels like it is starting to get hot outside, so I am glad to be done with my race. My run tomorrow will be between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. as I wait for 10k runners to start finishing. I am watching my brother run a 10 k tomorrow. This is a big race with a few thousand runners I would guess. The first 5k is rather fast and the second 5k is flat. It usually produces some good times. Keep up the great running, swimming, resting and relaxing.

RA, I'm thinking post tib tendon, too. I'll probably take all of next week off from running again and bike instead. Not worth pushing things as I want to be able to train well this cycle. Rather take it easy now than later.

Jill - sorry the hear about the foot :( I have PF that sometime reminds me I am abusing my feet. Hope it doesn't cause any serious issues.

Hawk- Temps are crazy.... don't feel like training for the mohave desert race?

Well, I did 4 yesterday and plan on another 4m today. The unfortunate part is I didn't run this morning, so it will be a late day run. Things seem to be going slow but the heat is a killer and my gym membership expired. Hubby still in school and doesn't graduate until Dec. so unless someone wants to give me one like this past year membership I am stuck with using natural resources.

Sad day here...weeding out the garden to get ready to plant some bushes when I stumbled across a nest of baby moles...6 of 'em and I knew I shouldn't leave 'em. Had a lengthy discussion with my roommate about the least stressful way for me to "rid" myself of the problem, so we got a bucket and hose. :( Maybe if I had problems with rodents I could have the disgust required to be a good exterminator, but it was so sad. Oh well, problem gone, but now I don't want to go back to weeding.

33min easy run this morning, and will head out for ~60mins or more in a bit with the aforementioned roommate a bit harder, and then Toy Story 3 to cheer me up!

It's always the quiet ones! So matter of fact. I half expected you to go watch reruns of Dexter but you redeemed yourself with Toy Story 3 (I think).

Hi everyone. I went ot the Y for my customary run, and found I had an ache in my shin that seemed to get worse as I ran. Being the running hypochondriac that I am, I cut it short after 1.5 miles.

I hope tomorrow's 5k goes alright. It'll be over 80* at the start, according to the forecast. And a gabillion degrees humidity, I'm sure.
