Two days in a row!

Good morning, all!

I'm up to run yesterday's run at 6:00 instead of 7:00 in the hopes that it won't be so bad out there. It rained on and off yesterday, but my house is uncomfortably warm. It's only 74*, so hopefully I can get my big, bad 30 minutes in.

How anyone can mix up Ole' Miss and the Stillers is beyond me

Back when I complete this sucker!

Good mornin' chillins. I completed c25k w8d2 this morning. It was not quite as warm today but it was not cool either. Not much to add yet. I'll keep lurking. I thought of a weird QOD

QOD which can you do faster- write or type? And the writing must be legible.

For me it's type. I thought about that this morning. Not sure of my typing speed but it's probably over 50 wpm easy.
I know you're not picking on me. You probably feel the same way I do when I hear Baggs, Trevor or PC talk about feeling horrible and ripping off 14 miles, before breakfast no less! It's all relative. And running isn't something you can always make great strides, pardon the pun, in improvement in a short amount of time. Your tendons, ligaments, bones, muscles and brain, even, take time to build up.

As for the race, more reasons you'll be able to do it:

1. Race-day adrenalin and the energy from spectators. You can't underestimate those factors.

2. You've still got time to prepare for it. When I ran my first marathon (and I know you probably don't wanna hear more about crazy distances) I had to bag a 16-mile run just a month from the race. Fell apart at 14 miles and had to stop. The next weekend, which was three weeks from the race, I barely made it through 20 miles. Yet, I still ran every step of that marathon even though I was scared to death that I'd fail miserably.

3. 9 a.m. start time -- You get extra sleep!

4. What you're feeling is totally normal. You'll be fine! If you ran 2.5 miles this morning, you'll have 3.1, at least, in ya come race day.

how is everyone today? I am okay...not bad, not great. I did 10 this morning in 73F with a dew pt of 69F. EWW. I was just dripping from head to toe. Finished in an ok time though. Now I am starving and eating some oatmeal. YUM.

Prae - You can do more than you think. You'll surprise yourself on August 25.

QOD: Easily type - my handwriting has increasingly gotten worse since working in an office. No one but I can read it if I write quickly or even at a normal speed. Hmmm...it is kind of sad.
Hey all,

It's steamy here. Today's going to be worse than yesterday. The forecast I heard on my drive in said today's hi will be 101 with heat index of 113! Yikes.

Anyway, got out for 5 recovery miles last night with the LRS group. We ran @ 5:30pm, and the weather hot...damn hot! Then 12 hours later, I was out on the road this morning for 10 miles in my neighborhood. Of course, I was sweating like 7.45 mofos. I think I ended up with about 9:00 mm pace. Couldn't go any faster. I'll be glad when the weather breaks. Tomorrow's a much needed rest day.

LL - I've been to a wiggles concert with my kids. If yours ends up like the one we went to here's how it will progress. First, your kids will be with you in their seats, but trying to see. Then, they will stand up. Then DD was out dancing in the aisle. From there she and others moved up [charged?] to the stage. From then on it was a 5 - 8 yr old mosh pit! Then there's my wife who's making eyes with Anthony! Whatever. Enjoy. You're kids will love it. You'll be lucky to get out of there alive and with your wallet still in tact [not empty]. Good luck.

Good runs to all. Stay safe out there in this heat.

Did a slow, painful 4.25 miles this a.m. in the lovely humidity. Gotta love summer!
Morning, all!

Got a really good 6 miles done this morning -- seems the humidity has lifted (at least for the moment)

Got news that they are moving my grandmom to the rehab unit in the hospital probably later today. This is a standard move for her, so right now it seems this may have been another CHF round that makes her count at about 18 lives...

Speaking of healing, Bob, how's your dad? and HH's and who else? Yeah, Doc, how are you? I haven't seen you lately... (or have I just missed ya?)

Uh, mandaroo, that thing-with-a-million-legs or whatever-it-is would've freaked me out, too. I'm squirmy just seeing that pic. You, however, look great!

Feel better, Beaker * you can do it, prae * bard - my eyes have been itchy lately --I'm going with allergies * litch you make me laugh *LL, what's the tooth fairy paying these days? * hellos to those I've missed: winter, maria, keriksen, frankie, sara, scratch, EQ, Beth, and whoever has posted since I started... just hitting everyone today -- been a bit scattered the past few...

QOY - I'm all about the post-it. And lists. But I often lose the list. Hence, the post-its.

Heading to the hospital in a bit. Looking forward to meeting 2oh this weekend!

Have a good one!

LLWiggleBerg We saw the Wiggles a few years ago - it was actually kind of entertaining (and not just because the # of MILFs there!) The A/C wasn't working properly and I thought the poor guys were going to pass out, dancing and singing and having a few thousand kids pawing at them. Congrats on the toof - what's the going rate at the Greenberg house? We did $5 for the first one and $1 thereafter...my sister goes $5 each! Hell, I'd knock my teeth out for $5 - that's almost a chipotle burrito! But then I realized I'd have to gum the burrito so I kept my day job.
Those I missed:
Pacer - cripes you guys are fast
Morning to maples, brandy, voo, jill, and tim

now I'm done.
I think.
(adding a wave to those viewing )
and good morning to you Solarpowered

Oops!! Hit 'Enter' before I was finished.

Prae, I hit that wall last week, and after some pep talk from the wonderful 30's crew, went out to add another quarter mile to my next run. Then, my following run, added an entire mile. So, it can be done. Don't cut yourself short. I thought for sure I couldn't do it, but I was wrong. Definitely, don't wear your watch. Just set your distance and go run it, take walk breaks, and Just Do It. You're in Pgh ... in the city? Or outside of the city? Major hill country!

Gonna be another hot one today. Stay cool!
For those who missed it last night:

Not sure of the resemblence, but it is kind of a hoot!

And I did get my 1 mile in after work yesterday.
Hi folks. Got in a muggy 7Mer, and I was a lil' sluggish due to lack of sleep (~6hrs). I just found out that a runner died at a race in nearby Chattanooga, Tn over the weekend due to Heat stroke. ya'll be careful.
http://www.macon.com/149/story/105462.html

Roo: What's wit da hatin' on us Lucky Charms eaters!? I mean I can't help it, they're magically delicous and they be callin' me. I can't see your pics, so what wuz on your 'maters?

QOD: Faster typing, my handwriting is illegible at any speed.
Ugh, I feel like Carp! (Is this a theme... I'm having a hard time spelling this wrong... is there a reason why I just did?) I can see my English teacher mother frowning now... I should add in a I ain't carin' for good measure!

I digress- Good morning 30's!

Bob, Baby classes are just the start of the end of your free time as you know it! Wait until baby comes and you start saying, sleep... what's sleep?

Maria, I haven't mentioned yet how much I love NYC. I'm a bit of a broadway junkie and I can be entertained just walking the streets for hours. I guess I like to people watch and NYC is a great place to do it. When I use to have time to write, observation is what gave me ideas.

Prae, Thanks for sharing your frustrations with us. I feel the same way a lot of times. I'm just starting to work towards a 5K also but haven't done it with any consistency because I've been more focused on my test. I do a lot of alternate walking/jogging/running/sprinting. Your attitude is great and I've no doubt you'll reach your goals with all the hard work you're doing. Stay the course and you'll make it happen.

Igreenberg, first tooth, sweet! Let us know what the reaction to the tooth fairy is! Wiggles... they're a bit goofy but put on a good show for the kids. They'll have a good time.

Heather, Happy belated Birthday! Hope you had a good one. I didn't have the opportunity to post yesterday, so I'm just catching up.

Roo Cute pic, it made me smile and say, what the heck is that?!

QOD type, but I have been known to take some mean notes in classes at an ungodly writing speed.

Ok, here's the deal...

First of all, thank-you all for the well wishes yesterday...

Almost five hours later I left the testing center, not feelin' it and pretty sure I'm gonna have to re-test. That test was horrible! So freakin' frustrating... I do not cry and I seriously could have poured buckets of tears after walking out of that place. I think being run over ten times by an 18 wheeler would have felt better.

Eventually I found a Logans and went straight to the bar and ordered a beer. Now, if you knew me better, you'd know, I really don't drink a lot. Which is why when my friend called ten minutes later and said, whatcha doin' and I replied almost finished with a beer she said, did I dial the wrong number?

After Logans I decided to get lost in a movie and went to see Bourne. Since I know there are others planning on seeing this movie that haven't seen it yet, I won't say too much other than it was a good distraction for me.

I have to say, I've slept great the last two nights. I think I'm gonna pack this bed and take it home with me.

Ok, enough playin' around. I've got to get moving and figure out what I'm gonna do this day. I might explore Jackson a bit before I leave. But first I'm going to try to get in a little exercise and get rid of this huge headache.

Hee hee.... I forgot to mention. Typical me girl thing... I totally found some Godiva chocolate last night and darn it I ate it not feelin' the least bit guilty. Yep, I'm a chocohollic when I'm unhappy! Godiva makes all things good.

Don't believe a word PacerWife says about my skillz...oh wait, you were referring to my workout this morning.

Fort Hose keeping score - it ended up NOT being the greatest day ever due in large part to the vomitous/diarrhea child we had last night - kinda took what slim chance I had for some boot-knockin' and killed the mood, particularly at 1am when she came into our bedroom, threatened to ralph and then hopped in bed with us for the night. I lay there from that point on thinking "If you fall asleep, don't do it with your mouth open in case she yacks on you in the middle of the night!"
What in some ways in even more sad is the fact that this will be my second time seeing them in concert.
Re: toothfairy visit - I gave her $5. My thinking was exactly like yours Pacer. $5 for the fist one and then $1 for the rest. She was shocked when she woke up to see the five spot. She couldn't believe the tooth fairy had left her so much so I explained it was probably because it was her very first tooth and it was so special. She was thrilled and put it straight into her piggy bank. Cute stuff.
Flemdawg Have you tried the Chocolate Lucky Charms? I swear I think they put crack in those things, that's how good they are. I always make sure to eat something before heading to the store so I don't get tempted by all the chocolatey cereals!

LLWiggleGroupie or would you be called a Wiggle Head?!
Wonderful visual, Pacer. You never disappoint.

hi Solar!

LSU Tiff: I thought the same about Bourne. Good distraction. Was it just me or were some of the fight scenes so fast as to be almost unclear?
Hey all:

Another brutal one last night. Went out with the team from the running store for the first time (new ownership). Someone there said the heat index was 105?? Doh!

Hung in there for 9 or 10 at about 6:30 pace. It was a little brutal with the heat and I started getting chills in the last mile. It was fun though. I've pretty much run alone, or with with one other guy since I started, so getting out there with a team was pretty cool. Especially since a few of them could smoke me at the drop of a hat. If I can get some quality training in with these guys that'll be mean.

Something about running out in a group of shirtless guys - we lost count of the catcalls at around 12 or so. The only we one we actually appreciated was from a carful of HS girls! Woot!

So I'm supposed to be getting my bathroom painted while the kids are away this week, but with this weather, my spackle won't dry!! Hopefully tonight I can get some primer on.

Who was it who dropped the 20 last year for the first tooth b/c they didn't have change? Own up!

Larry: Say hi to Capt Feathersword. I wish I realized they were here, we would have gone. Oh well, out of town this weekend anyway.

boB: Bummer. Sorry man.

PC: Nice run. Tell me the weather is lifting in OH and heading my way.

Beaker: Just picture them all in their underwear. Oh wait, you siad you DIDN'T want to puke. Sorry, forget that, I've got nothing.

Solar - glad the g'mom is doing better. When does school start?

Prae: Great advice so far. You will not know it until you are done, but you can do it. People who don't give up make great runners. Have faith in yourself. You can do things on race days that you cannot do in practice.

So I'm reading "Duel in the Sun" about the epic Salazr/Beardsley showdown at Boston in 82. The qualifying standard that year? 2:50. (3:10 master's men, 3:20 women) And they had almost 7500 runners! Holy carp! Decent book btw.
