No it happened the first weekend in August when I was outback canoe camping. I slipped on a rock and actually didn't hurt myself other than feelng a pop in my shoulder and then weakness.

It's gotten worse and so much worse that a week ago I couldn't sleep at night. Got some anit-inflammatories from the clinic, then saw my MD yesterday for something else and got the T3s. Saw a Physio today. Codeine and I don't agree, let's just put it that way.

But I need sleep!

I'm allergic to coedine (continuum of hives to hallucinations, depending on the dose). Most other "major" painkillers make me barf. I don't know how anyone gets addicted to them!

Same here with pain killers. Found out the hard way that I'm allergic to tylenol 3's. Several years ago when I was really sick, I was given percocet. I was allowed to take 2 every 4hrs. 1/2 every 6hrs was more than enough!!! I got major stoned on that little!

I knew about codeine and the *ahem* regularity issues, I've had codeine before, but I never knew about the nausea. Gack!

I went in for PT (my HMO refused to do an MRi to confirm a tear and refused to consider surgery) and eventually it got better but its nowhere near 100% and I have to baby it (ie no swimming :().

And I seem to have reinjured it slightly last week in circuit training...I now have shooting pains when I try to put a shirt on.

Ask doc about Voltaren ( generic is Diclofenac) which is a 24 hour time release ibuprofen. It works great for my crunchy knees and when they get really bad the doc has me take it 2x a day instead ( equivalent to the 800mg advils) but easier on the stomach and less need to remember if you took it or not !

Shoulder injuries are a bear ( I'msorryforthepun.. sort of . )

Hi Grizz....I just got back from my vacation. Canoeing in the Gatineaus was involved.

So was a rotator cuff injury...

As well as an inability to sleep....

And a trip to the hospital...

Toradol is the best!!! But they injected it into my other shoulder....not something I can take home.

And T3's....but I only take them before bed & deal with the pain during the day.

Seeing physio later this week.

Don't worry about it Grizz. I tore my left rotator cuff in 1978 and it's healing up nicely. By 2000 I could raise my arm above my head.

I have a slight tear in my right shoulder and it's just pretty annoying. However, when I sleep on that side it is really stiff and sore till about noon the next day.

Can't wait to get really old. :D
