Errrrrr...someone here told me to apply...I did and got in.

That said...(and no-I'm NOT putting myself down)...

Do they let everyone in?

I hear their tops end up like a belly shirt

Who was on the team? Worth it?

Thats cool!!

Team Javelin emphasizes race participation. You don’t have to be fast, just active. Team Javelin is ideal for half-Ironman and Ironman distance athletes

I think that means as long as your check doesn't bounce you are in

I was in it last year. The Sugoi shirts are European cut. Which means I ordered a large and it fits more like a medium. At the start of the race the jersey fit fine. By mid race it was a belly shirt. But the Sugoi material is really nice. I liked it a lot. Would rather have the orange from 2006 rather than last years green. The orange would match my bike. But 25 dollars for a Sugoi top and bottom or one piece is not a bad deal. And they do offer some discounts on some products too

TITHERS--that looks neat--I dont have a team local to me---so this would be neat to "belong" to a team----the website says you have to wear the uniform (not sure how they check that out though)----------I worry that the little spandex outfit will look, less than, sexy on me--but maybe it will make people stop at stare at all my flab, and I wont be last? LOL------------

WY-----sorry you didnt get in WY--it sounds from the email that they let everybody in--thats strange that they didnt accept you. I still dont quite understand it all---you just pay $25 and they send you a free tri uniform and provide you with coaching all season???? seems too good to be true?--it also says that they can use your pictures (yeah, dont think anyone is coming to the middle of no where to my races to take pics) and that they will call you from time to time (not sure why or how time consuming that is?)

You can always buy the Hammer tri apparel. They are pretty nice and good quality. That way you have a teem suit and don't have to be selected.

http://www.hammernutrition.com/za/HN...0,10047&AMI=48

W. sorry you didn't get in. Which tri's are you doing? I think that's what they base it on? Who knows.

The only thing I'm not excited about is the uni...I don't like shirts that ride up. I think I would look ridiculous in a one piece...or is that HAWT these days? I mean HAWT on pudgy ladies?

Oh, and as for coaching...errrrr...sheldon's my man. #1.

if in doubt order one size up. The large fit me like a medium.

Courtney, I think you can re apply, and list every single tri you might even think of doing in your area in the next year. I had to write mine in their boxes. Almost all of mine were sprint tri's and listed at least 6.

They do ask you to take a photo of yourself in their team uniform at one of the races, and email it to them. The Sugoi uniform is good quality and is a great deal at 25 dollars for both pieces, including shipping.

I could deal with a shirt that rides in a sprint...but not for a half Ironman.

I could wear it on the bike of the IM...

Reply. I emailed the team last night and requested a uni change. They got back to me right away. I went up a size. Thanks for that suggestion!

Also-I asked about % of people that got in vs who didn't. She said she didn't have an answer b'c they review apps all year and participation is key.

so-if you didn't get in, I think it's worth another shot.

I got in last year and got an automatic shoe-in for this year. I did not purchase another uni for this year, because it is the same color. I love Sugoi stuff, so had absolutely no probs with the fit. I did, though, go a size up and it fit well.

I do not have the same issues as a woman, so I can't reply as to two piece or one, but my two piece stayed in place for the entire Gulf Coast Tri. BTW, I did not send a picture of me to them. I just wanted a $25 suit. If that gets them advertising space, then so be it.

OK--so now I am very interested about this whole team thing----like I said before--it seems to good to be true---

those that have participated before:

what does it entail? you just take a picture of yourself at a race and send it to them?
how often do they call you, and for what?
do they coach you?
what else do they do?

thanks

You pay $25 for a uniform and promise to wear it at races...that's it. I have never sent a picture, written a race report, nothing. I did wear the uniform to a couple of races, but that was it. As I said before, I was automatically invited to be a team member for this year.

There is no coaching, they do not call you, they do not SPAM you with e-mail. They have a website, apparently with a bunch of "active" members. As a member, we are allowed to get discounts with the listed vendors.
