Team H continues to rock! Friday (a traditionally slow day) we still managed 126 pts and then came Sat-An Amazing 466 pts! Batmomm nailed her 20 miler race racking up a lot of points for us. Mykemp recovering from his illness got right back into the swing of things with a great run yesterday. Timr1 had his loooong run yesterday which helped us out. Lots of bikers in this group and HH has a new bike trainer so I'm sure we are going to see lots and lots of biking points while he (I think HH's male!) plays with his new toy. Great workouts everyone-and Roots we will be "rooting" for you today at Steamtown!

Batmomm are you recovering well?

Roots Go get 'em... pick up the pace when you get past the Dunder Mifflen plant

I did my first workout today... Cycling 10 miles trailering my 2 year old son Good workout. Too bad he slept through most of it.

I'll get in a medium long run this evening. 10 - 15 miles depending on how I feel.

I'm sore but afraid to not keep moving, I think it could get worse Maybe a nice ride is in order for me later.

Hey Guys - I am sorry, but after spending the morning in a cold rink (does 3 hours of shivering get me any points?), I am watching the Pats and the Red Sox. So - rest day for me. Maybe I will get a little walk in later but it may be a 0 point day for me.

Batmomm - WTG yesterday.

roots - I hope you had a great race today.

HH - which trainer did you get? I might be asking for one for my bday so I can ride in the winter.

Th CycleOps Fluid 2, on recommendation from others here (check the training forum for the thread).

I love it. It's smooth and quiet.

I'd just like to add that I think I scored 105 points this week, and I signed up as a Badass in training (<60)
I surprised myself this week...

HH - WTG! Thanks for the info on the trainer. I have been cycling all summer, but now that fall is here it's too dark in the mornings to ride and I have the kids at night so a trainer would be really useful.

I've had my Cyclops Fluid trainer for quite some time now, some years it gets more use than others. However it has held up well. I'm thinking I got it back in 2001.

That's something I'm aiming to get as well. Almost jumped on the opportunity yesterday, but there's still some rideable weather still around. Decided to use some of it today to get in nearly 19 miles today

Congrats to you HH....and keep those legs moving, batmomm - congrats to you as well on your 20-miler

Riding outside is definately more fun...

I have rollers, and a trainer, I like to mix them up. Rollers are good for working on your technique and balance, but offer little or no resistance (even the ones I have with resistance). The Fluid trainer offers great resistance, but you can just let your mind (and technique go to pot). Unfortunately, with a kiddo, the trainer becomes more of an option even when the weather is good.

Something I like in addition to my trainer are "Spinerval" videos. Those + my HR keep me working hard on the trainer.

Hey all, our team is doing great. Tomorrow's a planned rest day for me, and my marathon taper starts tomorrow. But, my first taper week will still have me doing 43 miles + next Saturday, i'll be doing a medium long run followed by a 5K race, that'll get us the race bonus points.

that's a hell of a taper Tim!

I'm on a cutback week but I have a 5k race on Sat too for extra points. I never went back for more after my 5 today. In fact, I don't think I got off the couch since

Hopefully we can keep our spot in the front!

Hi folks!

Today I finally get to run again for the first time in six weeks. Hooray!

I'll probably do something along the lines of a 3 mile run, 10 miles bike, and a 750 meter swim. Not too bad for a Badass in Training! (hee hee)

Team Huzzah,

It wasn't pretty, but I made it. I had a slight fever and sore throat. The thoughts of the VRAA team, and of SherpaJ, helped guide me to the finish.

Walked around Scranton and the Steamtown National Monument after the race, racking up a couple extra walking miles!

Glad to see Labduck and mykemp back in action!

Indeed, I am male.

Might as well take that opportunity to do introductions...

I'm married with children (girls - 4.5 & 3), and I live in Massachusetts. The only running I did growing up was laps for football practice until I was 28, and holed up in a hotel, and got bored, and went to the "gym" and all they had there was a treadmill...
I ran for the next 3 years until I had back surgery in May of '06. These past couple months, I'm just getting back into the swing of working out again. I'd really like to be able to run again, but for the time being, it's just weights, elliptical, swimming, and biking.
There's more, but I won't bore you...
