I see some familiar names there, I'm excited for this round of play. How about some introductions and backgrounds to get us all started here? I'll be back in a bit to put my own in, right now I'm going to be late for work if I keep typing.

Hi Team -

I'm RFTL - mom, wife, lawyer and runner. Looking forward to this round of VRAA. I participated in round 6 and found that it was a good motivator - forced me to do a bit extra each day. I'm in week 10 of a 16 week training program for a half marathon. I also have a 10 mile race next weekend. So I'm hoping to log some good points.

Hello team C--

I recognize one person from the intense rivalry between team S and team J from the last round. I was on the champion J team. I live in the Salt Lake City area. As of now I stay home and take care of my 2 kids. I am currently training for a 5k in April. Let's just have fun and see what we can accomplish this round.

Hell to the Yeah..Korbel here. (firts name is Dom)

I am a VRAA virgin and excited to get in here. I am positive when in doubt this will make me run the one extra mile or jump on the ellip on an off day instead of all out resting! I am one of the 30's posters. I am a husband, dad of two kiddos and have been running for about 22 months. I am heavy into training for the Fargo Marathon on May 17th. in fact I have a 20 miler on tap this weekend so I will be able to put up a big number right out of the gate for us

GO TEAM C!

Hello Team C! This is my 3rd round - so far I've been a member of winning Team H, and 2nd place Team S in the last round. I am a wife, mother, bookkeeper, and runner. I am training for the Cox Marathon in RI on 5/4 so I should be putting in some good miles. I am hoping this will keep me on track as far as cross training goes.

Go Team C!

YEAAAAAA Team!

I'm just a beginner at this stuff... and really looking forward to it. For those who aren't Masters, I'm Mustang Sally's mom, and got roped into Kickrunners after a mostly walking walk/jog of the Myrtle Beach Half. Now I'm in the first week of training for NODHM.

I put an AAA map of the US on the file cabinet, and NYC is the other side of the fold!

You guys are amazing.

Welcome everyone, sounds like we've got some big points-getters on our team, this is going to be fun.

This is my 2nd VRAA, the first one definitely got my butt motivated and moving on days that I otherwise wouldn't have, hopefully that will hold true for all of us this time around. I'm in the central NY state area and desperately hoping that the snow is all gone by the time my first 10k rolls around at the start of April. My points will be in training for that race, and the race itself is the last weekend of the VRAA so I'll get some bonus race points too.

Some food for thought, we're supposed to come up with an actual team name this time around, something more creative than just Team C. Post up any ideas that you come up with. There's also a thread of changes for this round if you haven't seen that already.

Hey, hey TEAM C!

This is my 2nd round - Let's see, I'm a wife, mom, techie, and runner. I am currently training for a 10K at the end of April. Looking forward to the extra push that VRAA gives me to do a little more during the week.

Hey Team C!

This is my 2nd round. I am a stay at home mom, with 2 daughters. I am currently training for the Delaware Marathon in May and fighting the fact that I am packing on the pounds...stinkin' appetite! I see a few familiar names (RFTL, Korbel, and Larry...woohoo 30's)! I'm really looking forward to this!!

Hi Team C!! I was so excited to get to work this a.m. and log on right away to see if the teams were up! I actually woke up at 5 a.m. and was thinking of getting up to log on, but sorry folks, warm blankets put me back to sleep!
I'm looking forward to co-captaining with Intensebeet and was very excited to see the group we have here. A few I know from the Masters forum (hi studly JJJ, the suave winejunky and my favorite mom of Mustang's!). I recognize most of the other names from my lurking around other forums and look forward to getting to know you all more and kicking some serious bootay this round. I see we already have Antag feeling the threat of our very own JJJ.
ok - intro on me . . . this is my 3rd round of VRAA. Round 5, our team was around 4th, or maybe 5th?, and this last round, we were somewhere near the bottom. It's been fun and a real motivator for me in each round. This round I am putting in my more mileage than rounds past because I'm training for my first marathon. And March hits at the perfect time because I'll be hitting some peak weeks this month. Plus, I want to do more cross training to make me stronger for the marathon, so this is a great motivator to do that.
in my non-running life, I'm a wife, mom to an 8 yr old son, and work fulltime as a paralegal in criminal defense.

Hey Tamster - I am running a M the same day as you, just on the opposite side of the country. How is the training going? Do you find it as difficult as me to fit it in with kids and a job?

Hi Andi - yeah, we'll be running a marathon together - - virtually that is!
are you following a particular program? I'm using Higdon's Novice II plan, which just has me running 4 days a week. I can handle that because twice a week, I do the two shorter runs during the lunch hour at the gym and can shower afterwards and go back to work. Yes, with a FT job, close to 2 hrs a day in commute time, family and a young child, it can be challenging to fit in the training. The Higdon plan i'm following has sort of the bare minimum of training that you'd really want in prep for a marathon. And I only have 2 yrs of running as my base (but the first year was fairly sporadic with IT issues, art therapy and physical therapy). My goal is just to finish though - regardless of time. I did my first 16 mile this past Sunday though and felt good afterwards. Even tried out an ice bath . So, I feel like the training is going well for me so far. I used to not be able to get to 3 miles w/o IT pain, so this is huge for me.

How about you? How is your training going? Is this your first marathon also?

Hey Team! Anyone have suggestions for team names yet? remember, it doesn't HAVE to have a C word in it - it can but not required.

I thought I'd take a few minutes to repost each member and what level we all signed up for:

IntenseBeet: BA
Tamster: Super BA
Abb94: Super BA
AlaMichele: BA
Andi: Super BA
Chosha2002: BA in Training
Eccabex: Super BA
JJJ: Titanium
kfuller: BA
korbel: Super BA
lgreenberg: Super BA
MustangMom: BA in Training
Runninfromthelaw: Super BA
Winejunky: Super BA

and here's a recap of what each level is:
(1) Titanium Badass: You average earning 280+ VRAA points per week. That's 2 hours on the elliptical trainer, every day. Or, you go to Pilates class for 60 excruciating minutes 3 times a week, bike 50 miles a week, and still find time to run an additional 40 miles.

(2) Mega Super Badass: roughly 200-280 points per week or more. You run 40+ miles per week plus bike 25ish miles per week, or bike 135 miles per week, or walk a 9.5 mile mail delivery route every day plus run like a beast in your free time, etc.

(3) Super Badass: 120-200 VRAA points per week. Maybe you churn up the pool for 2000 yards in a week and then run 20 miles a week. But not content with that, you then do your cross-training (alt. workouts) because every Super Badass just knows they should.

(4) Badass: You rack up 60-120 VRAA points per week. Cycle for 40 miles in a week and you've done it. In-line skate for 30 miles, same thing. Or you could just run for 15 miles in a week. Or mix it up a little. A Badass like you has options!

(5) Badass in Training: earn 0-60 VRAA points weekly for your team. That's up to 15 mpw running, or 40 mpw on a bike, or 6000 yards of swimming, or a few good days at the gym lifting weights and/or tooling around on them machines.

Remember ALL levels are important to our team. As much as this is a team game, it's also a fun individual challenge and hopefully is a great motivator for you for those days when you might not otherwise have made yourself do anything. And if you've always been pretty much just running as your only form of exercise (like me), then hopefully this round of VRAA will motivate you to branch out into that wonderful world of cross training, or getting in more ab and core work, spend more time stretching . . . . all things that will benefit your running.

and a very special welcome to our first time VRAA's! I hope you enjoy this!

Awesome job on the training. Sounds like it is going well so far.

I am following an intermediate plan - similar to HH's intermediate. I am running 5 days and cross training 1 day. I did my first 17 miler last weekend and felt pretty good. I am hoping to get to the start and finish lines injury free. And, a decent time wouldn't hurt either.

ETA - yes, this is my first M. I have run 3 HM's, but never done the full Mary!
