Hi KS, Rip and TW!

Another slacker here, too!

Just as well.....woke up to sound of the high winds sending my chimes into orbit and the THUMP of my neighbour's tree falling. Only a bit of damage done to the fence, as thankfully my car was parked upwind. Rained off and on all day (sideways), but that wind still hasn't let up. I took off after breakfast for some errands and didn't get back until an hour ago. DH is happy..... I got him a proper speaker phone for his home office and finally found something we've been searching for since before Xmas..... a set of proper 20 oz. British pub beer glasses.

Yay!

I've managed to upgrade my race on Saturday to the half marathon, so don't feel guilty about the mini taper/slacking. Just wish I'd gotten more gardening done today......... but it probably would have required a hard hat.

Stay safe everyone!

good afternoon. went for a 4.1 mile run this afternoon. I am so tired and my run showed it. just was not feeling the energy and it was all I had to push myself through these 4+miles.

my lack of sleep is due to these little 7 week old lab/aussie shepard mixes we brought home last night. Meet Bailey (first pic) and Bella (facing camera on 2nd pics. they were both pretty tired after their bath last night.

Puppies! I love puppies... Very cute, Tammy. You still have your old dogs, right? I couldn't imagine having 4 dogs.... we'll have a dog again someday, but for now I'm kind of enjoying being without.

Wow, Heme... crazy weather in so many places! Don't know that I could handle that much excitement. How does your garden hold up in all that wind? Nice score on the glasses!

Happy Tapers to ksrunr and ripvanracer! Can't wait to hear the race reports from OKC. What are you racing, rip? You probably said, but I forget.

Since I'm taking it easy this week, I didn't run home from work last night. But at the gym yesterday, DH and I did some leg work that I could sure feel afterward! I started from home, and ran down the road to the flatter side near town. No steep anything, just gentle grades on bikepaths. Made it to the Hampton Inn for a potty stop, and ran back about 2 miles to where DH was waiting for me to save me from the uphill run back up our road (yay!). So I ran 7.2 miles at about 8:12 overall average. Felt like I was working a little harder than that, but I think that's from the leg workout earlier. Oh boy did I feel that this morning! Obviously I need to do more of that if the little bit we did had such an effect. If DOMS is worse the second day, I'm askeered about what tomorrow will bring!

Still... it was a nice enough day today that I ran at lunch for about 5.5 miles, meeting up with DH in the last mile. We're both entering another 5k on May 7, and he'd sure like to do better on this one. It's crowded with lots of sharp turns, but no real hills (one bridge, that's it). It's also embedded into my 10 mile day, with a 20 miler the next day... Hope that one goes better than the last one!

yeah, we have our old 10 yr dogs also. It'll be hectic for awhile but we wanted to get pups while we still had our goldens. the older ones stick close to home now, so our hope is that the pups will follow them around like surrogate moms and learn from them. that's the hope at least. we live on 13 acres and when our other dogs were young, they'd take off and be gone for hours because they had so much land to roam around on. plus, we back up to BLM so there really is alot of land to explore. plus the dogs will be outdoor dogs when they get a little older, so it's not crazy hectic in the house with 4 dogs. David is just in love with the pups. He was only 1.5 yrs old when we got our other ones so he has no recollection of what having little puppies was like. and these will be "his" dogs so he'll learn puppy responsibility.

Can we see pics of the Goldens too, Tamster? My favorite breed. I used to have two - would love to have one again, just not while I'm working full time.

3-mile supposed "recovery run" tonight, but it was faster than it should have been. I'm goin' with it! It was sunny, cool, and sparkling out this evening.

I feel a bit guilty that I live in such a mild climate - without tornados.

Tom, I could not believe how difficult of a time we had finding a mixed breed that didn't have a pit in it. I know some pits are fine and mellow, but our son is just deathly afraid of 'mean looking dogs" because of a couple bad experiences we had when he was about 6 or 7. boxers, rotts, pits, any of the boxier/muscle bound dogs he's very afraid of.

first night of crate training didn't go very well. but I guess it's like training a baby to go to sleep in their cribs right? they might have to cry it out for awhile, but then it gets better.

right? right? . . .

happyfeat - our 10 yr old dogs are also a mixed breed. their mom was a golden and their dad was a white shepard. so they actually look more like yellow labs because of the shorter hair, but definitely still have that golden look in their faces and neck/chest area. I don't think I have any pics of them on my work computer here. maybe over at photobucket. i'll check.

kind of small, but here's a pic of jade and jasmine, our mellow sweet loving golden/shepard's that are not feeling the love towards the new little terrors
