My turn! Hope I don't bore y'all to death . . . <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Cool"><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">1. Why do you run?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">Originally, I started running almost 2 yrs ago to get in better shape (the first 6-8 mos were pretty sporadic due to injuries though). I have an almost 8 yr old son and I wanted to be active with him. I was toting about an extra 25 lbs on me that I never lost after giving birth. And I couldn’t use the “just had a baby and still carrying around the baby weight” excuse any longer. So, I lost the weight plus some and I keep running because it’s something that is just for me and makes me feel good, but it also sets a good example for my son of the importance of staying active and fit. Plus, my legs and ass look good, errr better, now and I want to keep it that way.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">2. What is your greatest accomplishment?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">My tendency would be to say “my son”, but I really can’t take all the credit or count it as some great accomplishment of my own doing. My husband and I are both good parents and we are blessed with a very bright, easy-going child.</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">Other than that, I guess a proud accomplishment is being good at my job and well-respected by my boss and co-workers for the abilities I have and what I bring to the office.</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">In respect to running, my greatest accomplishment is probably the HM I ran last weekend. I’m not a fast runner, not real experienced, really only been running and training consistently for one year and I ran a 1:54 HM whereas my goal, which I didn’t even think I could do, was to run a 1:59.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">3. What is your motto/theme song?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">If you can’t excel with talent, triumph with effort.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">4. How do you deal with bad runs?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">I just chalk it up to a bad day and move on. I don’t dwell on it.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">The good run is reward in itself for me. Although there might be some connection with the good long run days and the bowl of ice cream I eat that evening . . .</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">6. Who do you admire most?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">There are several past world leaders or humanitarians I admire, but I think in my own world and choosing amongst those that are around me, I’d have to say I admire my grandmother the most. Growing up in the depression, married to a Midwest farmer and also working the farm herself, raising children, and having an unwavering faith, has made her a very admirable woman – her personal ethic, her work ethic, her morals, her giving, helpful and loving nature. At 84 she hasn’t slowed down much. Still gives of her time on a daily basis in her small community. She exemplifies leadership and humanitarianism at her local level rather than a world level. She’s a very admirable person.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">7. What do wish you had learned younger?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">To not be afraid to try. I rarely branched out of my comfort zone for fear of not excelling. If I didn’t think I could excel at something, I usually wouldn’t try it. There were many opportunities and things to experience that I missed out on out of my own fear of failure.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">8. How would your friends describe your personality?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">Compassionate, attentive, fun loving, easy going, good sense of humor, tolerant, caring, generous.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">9. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">Usually a pair of shorts and whatever running shirt is clean. Always wear Asics running shoes. My favorite running item to wear though is a running skirt.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">10. What has been your favorite race?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">I have run 5K's to HM's (two HM's so far) and I like them all for different reasons. I like the HM distance the most probably – it requires training but it doesn’t take over your life and I can manage to get in the training I need to with my other commitments.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">11 Do you have a goal race right now?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">I am hoping to do my first marathon in May (Eugene). I never thought (and sometimes still doubt) that I can run that far for that long.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">12. What makes you happy?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">My biggest joy comes from my son. Hearing his laughter. Tucking him into bed at night and lying down with him until he falls asleep, listening to him breath while sleeping. Watching my son interact with his friends and seeing what a respectful, kind and good friend he is.</span></span></span><br><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">13. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past.</span></span></span><br><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="color:#000000;">Well, there’s probably lots I haven’t said on this forum, but not sure what is interesting. I’m open to questions though!</span></span></span>

Most excellent. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"><br><br>
Like you, one of my favorite parts of the day is laying down with Olivia at night. We cuddle until she falls asleep and watch her face for several minutes. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

Yay! That was neat to read. Your grandmother sounds like a neat lady. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"><br><br>
So which running skirt is your favorite?

Thanks Tamster. It really was nice to read that and get to know you better.<br><br>
I might use your grandmother as one of the people I admire when my day comes. She sounds wonderful.

holy moley Tamster, there's a lot more to ya than I thought....... my bad, <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/sad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Sad"> , for not getting past the nice legs & ass part. I'll try to do better. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/notworthy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="notworthy">

Ilene - because I couldn't come up with any kind of answer . . . I was drawing a blank. Not an uncommon event for a blond you know.<br><br>
Duckgeek - yeah, I left that out so I could hear you say it. Thanks!<br><br>
wryillco - I have a Triks skirt and I just bought a New Balance Bonita skirt that I ran in this sunday at my HM. I like them both for different reasons. I think the Bonita skirt is more flattering on me, but the compression shorts do ride up a bit more the compression shorts on the Triks. But it wasn't enough to make it uncomfortable or really bug me. Both of the waist bands though are very comfortable and stay put.

Hi Tamster! Great bio. You come across as very humble and content.<br><br>

Happy running!
