Nice workout Mike, tonight should be an interesting for our meeet after yesterday's practice. 1600/3200 for me tonight and I don't feel the most spectacular as of this morning...

I could really go for some tacos right now too...if only Pittsville had a Taco Johns.

Tacos? Up here we call it "Toonie Tuesday" because you can get two pieces of KFC for a toonie! (2 dollar coin) I have not yet gone (tonight) but will be doing around 6 miles at a steady pace.

I'm sure there is someone in your house that can kick taco john's ass at making tacos.

Good running at the meet - I predict 76-75-76-72 and 78-80-80-80-79-79-79-77 = and a colapse in utter exhaustion.

Greetings and salutations. I am back.

3 miles very very slowly. Still, 3 miles is 3 miles, and they were hilly.

Feel "loose" and not in a good sense. Uphill easier than downhill.

Welcome back Grizzly.

I ran six miles of recovery this morning on the nearby golf course. I also retired my last pair of Asics GT-2100s. It was a rather sad day as I was very fond of that model of shoe. It was my third and final pair of them and I will always remember them with affection.

Enjoy your workouts today!

Lofcaudio - You crack me up - I know you may be serious - But for me shoes come and go - I am on my 8th pair of Asics 1100 and there are still 3 in the box waiting - I am hoping to get to fall marathon with my current stable of ponies - then to the glue factory they go!

Glad I can provide some unintended comedy. Flounder, how many miles do you usually get out of a pair of shoes?

(Like you, when I find a pair that I like, I usually grab a number of pairs...)

Everyone knows Taco John's is about the potato ole's.

I taught pilates this morning, then got in the pool and swam for an hour. After warming up I alternated 400m sets (including one pathetic time trial) with 4 X 25m sprints. Gotta get faster!

Lofcaudio - Depends - really do not track any more, but I know I went through 6-8 pair (Depending on carryover) last year and ran 4800 miles ish.

600-750 per pair I guess. I usually have 4-6 in the rotation at one time - The ones that are near end of life, I run short recovery runs or save for muddy days. I really try to let them completely dry out before wearing them again - I believe that this extends the life of the shoe.

4 easy miles @ Lunch.

*argh*
would someone please go over to my neighbors' house [they aren't home], break in, and MUZZLE THEIR DAMN YAPPY LAP DOG...who hasn't shut up since they left for work at 8am

oh, and the house is THREE homes away + a bunch of trees in between; so you KNOW that thing has to be driving someone else insane also

Mike - I can't wait until I find a shoe that is good for me. Once I do stockpiling is sure to follow. 600 - 700 some miles is insane, my feet started hurting on my Speedstars around 300some miles. I am sort of doubt your splits as well, maybe if it was a decent rubber track but asphalt with trainers doesn't make me feel as fast as racers. Also about the taco thing, I like the ground beef at my house, but Taco Johns has pretty amazing tortillas along with the make your own salsa bars. I'm so hungry now...

Griz - Hope the recovery starts happening.

Lof - Why not find someplace online that sells them? Or have you tried already? Also I wish I had a nice soft place like a golf course to run on besides highways.

Tigger - How big is that chicken? $2 for 2 pieces of chicken doesn't seem like such a great deal since you can get one of those little snacker sandwiches for $1 each. Hope the run goes well.

jebba - Hopefully the lil' one naps when he should.

Nice run JD.

DG1 did you show him who was boss again, or did he dash away while you waited at the stoplights again?

SGH - That speed will come back don't you worry...

Well weather for the meet looks like it could be super bad, possible thunder storms...oh well. I'll report back later.

Cooperative baby let me get in 4 miles in 42:10. He's seven weeks old today, and celebrating by sleeping all day. I hope this doesn't mean he'll be up all night.

Time is flying. Unfortunately, that means going back to work soon.

Jebba - Just means that he's going through a growing streak - I wish I could sleep all day - But there is only one direction for me to grow.

Hi all,

I'll pass on the tacos. Friday night I ate Chinese food for the first time in nearly 20 years (last time I got violently ill). I figure one daring food adventure in a week is enough for me.

Anyway nice running out there folks. Lofcaudio, I completely understand your affection to your shoes. I used to love my Air Pegs until Nike went and f*cked them up royally in '06. They had it right in '04. The '05's were okay, but not as good as the '04's. The '06 was a disaster, and I refuse to waste my money on the '07s. I like the Wave Riders for pavement now, so that'll work for me.

My plan for today was Week 3, Day #2 of the Pfitz/Douglas 18/70 plan. It called for 9 miles with 4 at LT pace. In my case, I decided to target BQ pace as my LT pace. Might have been a bit fast, but close enough. My MAX HR is 203, and at the end of the 4th mile of targeting BQ pace, my HR was around 180, so I figure if I wasn't at LT, I was close.

Some of you might remember in November, December and early January, when I would do my long runs, I would try to do 3 miles at a considerably faster pace (I would normally target miles 4-6 and try to do 7:30-7:45 in those miles). I wasn't sure why I was bothering to do that, other than to have fun. Let me tell you, those workouts were great for prepping me for tonight's workout. I knew going in I wasn't going to have a problem for the first 3 miles, and if I could hold it together for the 4th I'd be all set.

One thing I didn't like tonight, it took me most of mile 8 and part of mile 9 to get my HR back into the 160s. Recovery time needs some work.
