A bit depressed after knee pain stopped me during a trail run yesterday, I decided to ignore the nice day and skip the bike ride today, and go to the pool instead. This week, I have planned my longest ever swim workout, 2000y (previous was 1800), and longest continuous swim, 1200 (previous was 1000). On my way there I decided to skip 1200 and do 1400 or 1500.

Warmed up, then started to do lap after lap, hoping to do 30 and reach 1500y... plan was to finish in less than 35 minutes. Well... I reached 1000y in 19:58!!! My previous 1000y swim was 21:51, so it's a massive PR. I might have spent a few extra seconds, making sure I'm on the correct lap count, then resumed. Finished the 1500y, my longest distance by far, in 29:44!!!!!! Not only way faster than I hoped, but it looks like I had a negative split!

I'm mostly happy (besides the distances) that my lap times didn't go down... they were all between 56-61 seconds, with a few faster ones in the beginning and at the end. I still remember my first Oly, when my swim took 1h01... I know 1500m is a bit longer than 1500y... like 3 minutes longer, so I see how much I progressed in 8 months (actually my progress started in December).

Thank you for your messages!
I know it's still slow... looking at past HIM results, by 30 minutes most of the people are already out of the water. I'm hoping for 45 minutes.
My problem now? It's getting to the point where I'm getting the "treadmill syndrome" in the pool... getting bored with just getting nowhere. On the other hand, if I get a bit faster, then the workouts will be shorter.

Nice job, RFT3 -

Don't worry about "slow" - taking into account the wet suit, I'm guessing that a 32-35 min. is well within your grasp ... And just think, you have months to improve (assuming you can overcome the treadmill factor).
