<p>My Dad turns 75 on Monday, Canadian Thanksgiving.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>My folks live in Peterborough, half the continent away from us.  We keep in touch quite regularly, but it is hard and expensive to travel back and forth.</p>
<p><br>
The family had a surprise party yesterday, and one of our sons took the train up from Montreal to be with them.  We knew it was happening, and called a bit after the big surprise.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Dad and I chatted and he told me how much he missed us.  I said that I wish that we'd been there for the surprise, and he said that it was okay, we'd see each other soon.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I then said "Sooner than you think", and walked in the front door.  "Turn around..."</p>
<p> </p>
<p>My mom was in tears and Dad was as well.  It was a nice surprise. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>At any rate, I'll be away for a bit.  See you guys in a couple of weeks.</p>
