Good Morning!

{Starr}

Nice pose SS! I wonder where SS is off to race ?

I've had a small cold this week and was thankful that I'm on an off week and no LR, but wasn't sure what to do today. The last two week's LR's were 17.7 and 18.1. So I decided to run 12 at a harder effort in attempt to run somewhere near my goal pace which has eluded me for most of my summer runs except a few short tempos here and there. .5m wu and then started off. I tried to go by effort, (hard breathing) and figured if I didn't hit my goal, at least effort was there. When I noticed my breathing getting easier, I'd push myself to keep the harder effort and boy, am I happy with that run! 1:33:05 for 12m. That's a pr for my 12 mile training route where my prior my best time is 1:35:00 (2 years ago)! Followed by .5m cool down.

Enjoy your day everyone!

that's a nice hard run pink... great effort.

8mi with 2x2mi (3 min rest) idea was hard for the first 2 mi, then add 30sec/mi for the second 2 mi. ran 11:56 and 13:04, so close to the planned workout. splits were even at 5:59, 5:57 for the first 2mi, and 6:31, 6:33 for the second 2mi. felt completely wiped-out for the 2mi cooldown jog, somewhere up around 11min/mi shuffle... just totally spent it on the fast part.

Morning all,

I ran the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival 5K this morning in 21:57, good for 1 AG & 7 OA. Ice cold watermelon at the finish! A good start to the weekend.

Have a great Saturday.

Good morning friends!

1.5 miles around part of the condo in my groovy new Mizunos and then an hour yoga class. I'm beat now! But it feels great.

I got paid for a week's vacation time (no where to go, no money to get there anyway) so I paid off some bills and had a bit left over and promptly spent it on the new running shoes! Such a nice treat.

Good running Pink, MC, and Paul.

Excellent runs already from McSolar and Pink. Nice 5K and AG win Paul! Nice new Groovy Shoes Susan.

Well, the leg behaved itself mostly. Various left side parts are aching - achilles, ankle, heal - so I planned to run easy today. That, and waking up at 4:15 AM to see temps of 82° and 77% solidified "easy" as a good choice.

I ran 6.3 miles by myself to start off, then met the Local Running Club. Then slow and easy with them till 15 miles, then 3+ miles home by myself. 18.2 miles at a slow and easy 9:40 pace with many water breaks. I did manage two MP miles late in the run but that was it for today. Glad this one is done.

Two local runners in their 50s are getting married later today. We call them Ken and Barbi because they're both sooo good looking in that All-American sort of way. Knock-outs really. (I guess the old-styled Barbi anyway. Have you seen the latest Barbi dolls? Punked out.)

Some really nice runs out there today! Byll, some day, some day....

Susan, enjoy your new shoes. I know I'm enjoying my Brooks Glycerins, so much that I bought a second pair and religiously alternate the two pairs. Since they only came in one color, I had to write "A" on one pair and "B" on the other, so I'd know which was which. Of course I could've just marked one pair....

We went into Manhattan last night to see Barenaked Ladies at Radio City. Not the same dynamic as a quartet now, unfortunately. But at least we had dinner at a nice restaurant with MrOM's co-worker and his wife beforehand (they also had tickets to the show, coincidentally).

3.25 speedy miles in the park -- what a difference a rest day makes! Yes, SS, I'm being careful... though it's nice to know I'm being watched out for. I have to admit, the miles are coming on very easily, meaning I'm not struggling at all to reach a certain number. Could it all just be related to my changed diet? I mean, I've always known there was a stronger runner hiding somewhere inside of me. Interesting thoughts, but I'm not going to dwell on them (much). I'm just going to run.

Going for a bike ride this afternoon with MrOM. It's a beautiful day for it. Enjoy your super Saturdays, everyone.

Congratulations, Paul!

Unseasonably cool and rainy here - feels like fall.

A friend and I ran the first 8 miles of the local half marathon route. We saw a bunch of wild turkeys and a dead porcupine. Then out for coffee and scones. Thinking I'll go back to bed for a nice nap as this is good sleeping weather.

Great run pink. Congrats Paul on the AG win; that's a speedy 5k you ran! Maybe another Mizuno convert Susan? That's what I run in because they're so light and breathe well. Tough 18-miler Bill, but like you said, it's in the books. Have a nice nap mc.

Part Deux of our combined running clubs Hood to Coast training this morning. 82°F and 60% RH. Completely wacky weather for us; I started looking for alligators. I hooked up with a little bit slower group than the one I ran with last night, and they were more fun too. 9 miles at 7:57/mi. I've ran 45 miles in the past seven days. which is a ton for me. I'm pooped!

It's incredibly hot here for a race. Paul, as always, I'm in awe!

On the bike, I don't notice the heat. About 2 hours and loved every minute, except when DS had a meltdown at 30 minutes, and I had to ride home, get the car, take him home, then head back out. I'll put the numbers in the bike thread.

Paul, congrats on your great race. 1Ag is amazing considering the heat and all.

MCsolarboy, you nailed that workout today. The objective was to leave it all during the three faster segments, right?

Orange Mat, you are getting stronger my friend. Just embrace the miles as they come and before you know you will be reaching higher and higher number. Just run, and worry about the pace later.

I thought of tammy today during my run and how she is can fit in a race in the middle of her 20 milers. She is so strong.

go econo go!!! I can't wait to hear her results.

I think I nailed it today during my LR. I took a honey stinger gu every 5 miles, or around the one hour mark. I drank around 48 oz of water and my body responded to this pattern very well. Schedule called for 18 miles, but I felt very good and it was only 78F that I decided to add 2 more MP miles for a total of 20 miles.

Great fitness day in posie land, if you ask me.

Hi guys!!

Got back from vacation late yesterday, but haven't had a chance to catch up on all of the week's going's-on.

^5 for the 5K AG win, Paul!!

Nice speed on the 12 miler, Pink!

Good LR's, Byll & Posie!

10 miles for me early today with the Seaton Mud Puppies trail group. Feet hurt by the end......the new Salomons are a bit too wide for me in the forefoot, and I developed a blister from the sliding around on the orthotics in last weekend's trail race (no 4-letter words necessary, Pink... and I was just thrilled to stay upright and not to get lapped on the 2 lap course). Taped and changed the insoles/socks, but it still hurt. The beer and the soak in the river after were wonderful!

Ran down to packet pickup, then back home. It was a tough 4 miles with temps in the mid 90's. I'm going to be extra conservative at tomorrows 12-hour. I had an original goal of 55+ miles, now I'm thinking I may walk most of the afternoon since the forecast call for near 100. I'll take whatever my body will give me without risking heat stress.

18 holes today, in a threesome. Won one match; lost the other. Hit one laterally, which was disconcerting.

I did that last Wednesday with a 60° lob wedge! I had hit two perfect shots early with that club, then I went and did that for some inexplicable reason. With the wind, It actually went behind me a little bit. I then hit my 56° sand wedge ten yards over the green. Still scrambled for bogey though...

4 in 41:32, started at 8:00am, so got a little hot. MUST start earlier next weekend - 10.5 on the schedule. Will be another distance first.

Loving all the positive run reports today.

Was so hot and sweaty and tired after the run today. But not even in the shower yet, and I'm already thinking about the next run. There's something about having races to prep for that sure keeps me motivated!

Now stuffed with Mexican food - too much! Think I'll have to do some walking tomorrow morning to burn off those enchiladas. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Hi Masters!

I escaped the 102 heat today and spent 4.5 hrs on a tahiti in the Rogue River. Great day to be out there. Lots of folks rafting and tahiti-ing. It's actually the first time my son has gone rafting before and he loved it.

got in a short 3 mile run early this morning first.

Another sweatfest on the eliptical this evening. After a hard hour last evening I went a little easier and made it 75 minutes. I have been increasing the resistence each workout to get closer to an actual pace I would run but still avg 5:33 pace for 13.5 miles.

I have now been off running 3 weeks and only have one more week of no running until my half marathon.
