So, I am marginally geeky about things astronomical. I don't know all the constellations, I don't have a telescope, but I do tend to obsess about space news.

There's a spiral galaxy about 22 million light years away - close by the standards of our universe, and in it there's been a super nova that has been steadily brightening. I read that you could see it with binoculars, so I attempted to do so last night.

Apparently one needs slightly higher powered binoculars than I have, but I did see the thing. It made me feel small and insignificant, but then again most anything else does too.

Amazing to think that when the blast occurred dinosaurs had been extinct for some 40 million years and there was nothing on this earth and that the most remote ancestors of the genus "****" weren't going to be seen for another 20 million years.

Any way, that's all. Carry on.
