Whoops - sorry Todd about the drizzle. It's sunny and cool this morning here in CT.

5 easy, untimed miles this morning. Need to rest the legs a little for tomorrow night - a small x-country race I'd like to do well at. This is the last one in a series of 5. I've done 3 so far and the last one was pathetic . . .

Good runs to all today!

I don't know what to do, TW. Some days I double post, some I don't.

Today was another run/walk: 3 x 9 minute running with 2 minute walk breaks. Total was 4 miles, including a walking w/u and c/d. My hip feels fine, but I have some sore muscles from the lunges I've been doing. (I also think I might be getting a bruised sesamoid under my big toe - I think I'd better throw away my old shoes).

Happy Sunday, everyone.

20.75 miles this morning starting at 4:30am with a group of about 9 of us. Two dropped at the 10 mile mark when we returned to our cars. But considering the weather lately here in Atlanta, this morning's run was very pleasant.

I'm finishing off 4 buttered biscuits and coffee right now after a nice shower and starting up laundry after the run.

Morning Pink, Todd, tw ("Sweaty and Righteous" Snork!), runin, GaRebelRunner (nice work on the 20+ in the H&H ... which is just the way you like it, right?), mc (smart move packing it in). Mexicali Johnny, I enjoyed your day even if you didn't.

Hope perch and Pro are enjoying themselves.

Just 7k for me with [email protected]4:46/k. Supposed to be 5:10/k, but I'm a rebel. Really, though, felt fine. Didn't push it. Lots of stretching planned later.

Yeah, that girl Egret. She's quite a runner. Not bad for a Goth Girl.

Out to plant some beety beet beets. Sweet Sunday to you.

Ok yous guys....I didn't realize I was being watched so closely. Talk about pressure!

But, let me report on the 20. (From CR below.) It was good! I still feel great. Thanks for asking.

I am in the library parking lot on CapeCod, so I am gonna post and run, no make that sit. I am not running another step today.

Great day to all,Crai
g

Great run today! First off Perchcreek happened to be on Cape Cod on the day I went down to see my mom and brother. So we connected and agreed we’d run from my place at 7am. Beautiful weather; clear and 50deg to start, 60 at finish. First loop we headed west and followed some roads that were pretty ok for traffic. A little rail trail on the way back and soon we had 11.2M at 8:45 pace (HR for me 151 grrr, still a little high). A marathon bar Gatorade and a couple of E-caps, and back out there. Straight out and back on the rail trail this time. 8.8M @ 8:35’s or so. 163 HR. I cranked out the last mile at sub 7 just to see if the quads, hams, and calves were still in good shape. All good!

Turns out Perch and I are very similar. Same age, same M PR, etc. He took off pretty soon after our return. Mom made me a nice breakfast of bacon eggs and toast. Yum.

A great 20 miler under my belt. Which means the Hartford decision of Full vs Half is …. still an open issue. Which is good, the only other option was can the full option. So we’ll continue to monitor progress.

Good afternoon to Pink, tomwhite, Todd, Marie, SS, mcsolar, GRR, & the pro. Slept in this morning and woke up to the Sound of Rain!!! outside the window!. Unfortunately, it stopped after a half hour or so , but was enough to get everything wet.

A rest day for me, will probably go on a short hike in an hour or so.

Impressive job on the 20 miler Pro, especially the last mile. Nice you got to meet up with Perch.

I'm double posting as well, however I like the way this board is set up a little better. I don't like the active dot com takeover, but won't go off on a rant.

Marie, glad the hips OK, maybe you do need the new shoes. A couple of months ago, somehow I'd got up to 9 pair of shoes still in the rotation . In the last couple of weeks I've managed to retire 4 pair and have noticed I have over 300 miles on 2 more pair, so it's off to the running shoe store tomorrow. In a perfect world, I'd have 2 trail pair and 2 road pair.

Nice 20 miler, GRR. I don't know how you people in those really hot humid areas can do it.

Pink -- That flashy avatar reminds me of some late 60's experiences, what I can still remember of them anyway.

John, I was thinking that my weekly mileage has been so low lately that my old shoes would be okay. (They're up to about 300 miles - it seems like that's about all I get out of my shoes.) Anyhoo, I guess I know now that it's time to toss them. The way my foot feels right now, I might not be running the rest of this week.

Nice running for you yesterday, BTW. Good luck next weekend (HTC is next weekend, isn't it?)

You had a nice H2C training run John. Good for you for having the self-discipline to do those runs at odd times like that and then force yourself to get by on minimal sleep inbetween runs.

I also loved the sound of waking up to pouring rain (I live in the same town as John - not the same house ).

now I'm canning again, baking chocolate zucchini bread and just relaxing as much as one can relax when so much needs to be done around here.

Yeah - I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say something. My son and I were looking for avatars yesterday . . . and since this was pink and my name . . . we went with it . . . but definitely too flashy. Anyone have a good website to find one? He got a kick out of one that said Real Men Wear Pink. I'll go back to my boring self.

Tammy - you picked out a great one!

OK - Boomer aged guy hanging out in a library parking lot on a Sunday afternoon in his car . . .

Well, sounds like you and Perch had a great run and a sub 7 to finish! Now you're ahead of me. I have yet to do my first 20 miler later this week. And after my 18 last week, I'm sure mine will not be so good, but I just want to cover the mileage this week.

chocolate zucc bread (best way to hide zucchini from those that don't like it)

in a large bowl combine 3 eggs, 2 cups white sugar, 1 cup vegetable (i use canola) oil, 2 cups grated zucchini, 1 tsp vanilla and 2 ounces of unsweetened chocolate (that you've already melted so it's smooth). Beat all these ingredients well. Then you will stir in 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Fold in about 3/4 cup choc chips if you want. Pour the batter into lightly greased loaf pans (or muffin tins if you want). This should make about two medium sized loaves. Bake at 350 for about one hour (but i usually start checking after about 50-55 min with a toothpick.

so so yummy!

I made some bruschetta tonight for dinner - nothing like fresh roma's and basil right out of the garden. and a good glass of white wine. mmm.
