Thanks for starting this morning Elaine.
Lots of ice here. I was going to go out, but DW was worried about the ice, so I did 6 on the treadmill.
Good morning Kicking Boomers!

Nice run Elaine, OG.

Stepped down to 14 miles for my LR this week. Did this ever happen to you? I just finished 4 miles when I heard footsteps coming up behind me. "Ok", I thought, "I'll have a running partner to pace me." But this guy never broke stride, just stayed about 10 yards behind me. Well I was feeling good and a little competitive so I legged it out. 8:16, 8:09: 8:07. Feeling good, but knowing I'm going to pay for this later in the run. Finally just after mile 9 I came to a traffic light and had to stop. I turned around to tell this guy he should lead for a while. But there was no body there! I must have been racing my own echo.

And I did pay for that early pace. I was fairly tuckered out by the end. 1:58:00/8:26 overall. Now me and my imaginary friend are going to go stretch.

Good runs all,
Peter.. I've been wearing Road ID too, ever since Hally brought up the subject.
Nice run Mike! That's one way to push it a bit.
Luckily no ice here, except for one small slick spot. It was 28F and rained all yesterday so some frozen spots.

9.2 mi GA in 1:13:05 (7:56, AHR 157 Target 160). First 2.2 mi with Tory at 8:33 (AHR156) then 7 mi at 7:45 (AHR 158 ). Really fast for the HR today. Awesome!

Have great runs!

LOL @ mike and his imaginary partner.
Thanks for the RoadID reminder Steve. There's still a link on the main page to order and KR get's 10% of the purchase. Do you have yours?

Took me all morning to get motivated, finally at noon went down to the treadmill for 3 miles. Some pu's some more later. Off for a hike and caching.

Did I show y'all the article with my picture in of Geocaching? It was an event I went to last Saturday in NJ.
enke, re. smoots, see here.

Ken, that sounds like interesting work. Sorry that it seems to be consuming your life. Do you and predawnrunner ever talk shop? I think she works on the software side of satellites.

Elaine, nice run, but I am speaking from experience when I say it does not pay to leave units unspecified.

Mike, sometimes my headlamp bumps against my ear warmers and makes a sound like footsteps.

Perch, speedy!

FF, looking forward to March. If you let me know when, I'll put in on my calendar!

0600
26 F, snow
12 miles @ 9:20, then 2 miles with DW

The snow made everything quieter except my footfalls, which made a squeaky crunchy sound. Fun.

That groundhog is okay. I like winter.

You gotta love that. What's your max HR, Perch?

I got my HR up to the 160 range today too. In a local 5K, with temps just below freezing, small hills, and a little ice to dodge, my AHR for miles 2 and 3 was 155 and 161 bpm, respectively. My max is around 174, I think. The course was short; Mr. Garmin said 3.06. Even allowing for that, it was a probable PR for me (21:20 plus 18 seconds for 0.04 M @ 7:13) by 27 sec. I don't run many 5Ks, but I had fun, ate some pancakes in the Firehouse afterwards, and took home a 2nd-place AG trophy.

Thanks for starting, Elaine, and nice run. Mike, Steve, and millbot too. Good decision, old guy.

Hi everyone,
I woke up very stiff from yesterday's run, but it was a "good" stiffness in my legs. This morning I did 30 mins of a yoga class before I had to leave to go to work <bah, humbug>. After work I'm going to put in an hour of rowing & elliptical, then I'm on-call for the ambulance until midnight.

My running club is putting on a race tomorrow morning but I'm not going to do it, since I'll be up until after midnight tonight. Plus it's beastly cold and just plain old nasty out. Instead, DH and I will go to the gym in the morning and I'll do some treadmilling while he takes a spin class.

I can't believe VRAA6 is almost over. It was so much fun - I'll probably sign up for the next one when it happens!

Congrats on the hardware Fortunate One!!!

I was running with Coach this morning...really icy in spots,so thank goodness he had to slow down a little bit...10K at a 7:39 pace with 2 fartleks and 2 hills thrown in...then a nice gentle cooldown walk and some breakfast...and he bought.

Coach is getting married to a Canadian gal in May and he asked me to be in the wedding party...I'm quite honored...looks like most of our Relay team will be at the wedding...

Easy run on tap for tomorrow...

Nice running out there. Great job on the race, Fortunate one.

I got out there at 1000 in 24f with a 12f wind chill. Not bad but some parts were a bit challenging with the ice and snow. Not enough for yak trax but enough that you had to pay attention. I ended up with 6.5 miles.

Yeah mike, I hear an echo often, and I'll glance to the side when going around a curve and I'll see no one. Makes me laugh.

WTG FO on the AG hardware!

I agree lynden, it's a nice honor to be part of some one's wedding. Congratulations!

7 miles for me at 7:57/mi. 34°F with a hard rain/snow mix. At least my outermost shirt did not freeze like last Saturday.

It took a month, but I've finally got my mileage up to 20-25 mpw. I'm going to camp out at this level for the month of February. Hopefully, my foot will get strong enough so I can start increasing the mileage again in March.

Really awful bike ride cut short due to frozen toes. Next Saturday's bike ride I'll try putting handwarmers in my booties.

This afternoon I have to go to a reception (eek!) then a basketball game. Time to get on my yellow & green!

Okay, I'm only on Week 1 of my training program, and I'm already screwing it up. Today called for a 6 mile marathon pace run, followed by a 10 miler tomorrow. The weather is warm! Sunny! The roads are cleared of all ice and snow! So, I am planning on a 15-miler tomorrow, instead, to take advantage of the nice-ness. You never know what nastiness is around the corner. I took today slower than MP, 6.87 miles in 1:01:32 (8:57 pace). My shins are really achy, so I iced and and took some ibu. We'll see how they feel tomorrow!

This afternoon, I did my Rodney Yee "Yoga Burn" DVD while my DS napped.

A quick 3 miles in the cold and damp this afternoon. Finally remembered to hit the lap button on my Garmin at the halfway mark of the loop, and now I know my splits!

total -- 3.0 mi -- 26:45 -- 8:55 /mi
lap 1 -- 1.5 mi -- 13:41 -- 9:07 /mi
lap 2 -- 1.5 mi -- 13:03 -- 8:43 /mi

Hey, it's almost as if I'm a real runner now!

The calf's still not 100%, so I think it was wise to take Thursday off, as well as keep today's run rather short. I'm going to be in Florida next week (Orlando area mostly), so I hope to get some nice sunny miles in.

irunmike (or should it be werunmike now?), that's a funny story about running with your shadow. Groundhog day, all over again....

Nice runs Elaine, old guy, perchcreek, millbot, lyndenrunner, Labduck, Shadow. Congrats on the race, Fortunate One!

hally, that geocaching thing looks very interesting. And you were right in my area for the picture in your article, well, several miles west, but close enough. Very cool!

Great run with Paul this morning-great conditions, pacing and conversation. It was like we did a half marathon. 13.81 miles, according to my Garmin-his may be different because of different software-in 2:16:10. That literally ties my half PR and we weren't really pushing it that much except a little during 10k in the middle.

ETA-I went to a free health screening this morning before the run and was very pleased to see a total cholesterol of 177, much lower than even 3 months ago when I last had it checked.

Good Saturday afternoon,

I went for a nice long run with Opie this morning. Weather conditions were just about perfect and we covered the 13.9 miles along the river trail in a little over 2 hours 15 minutes (avg pace 9:50/mile).

Have a great weekend,

Nice run Opie. Find a HM somewhere. That PR is going down!

5.35 treadmill miles at 1% incline at MP or so. Tomorrow's MLR should give me 50 miles for the week. Gotta get those miles back up or Eugene is going to be ugly ...
