What, nobody's started a thread yet??

Alright, I'll bite.

Am feeling a bit guilty about ditching my running partner this morning. He's having some back problems and told me yesterday that if I had others to run with today, that I should join then, cause he wasn't sure if he'd be able to run without the spasms kicking in, but that he'd try if I didn't have any other option. So I let him off the hook and planned to join the early morning group at my favourite trail system, thinking I'd be able to hang with a somewhat faster crowd.

I got up early and made it to the trail head with what I thought was 10 minutes to spare...............but nobody showed up!!! So I did the 10 mile out and back solo, only seeing one other runner who caught up to me in my last mile. Oh well, it was a nice run anyway... but I miss having the company.

Time for a late breakfast before going out for some yard work.

Enjoy the day everyone!!!

Nice trail run Heme!

I had company today for 10 of my 13.25 miles. He ran 2:56 in NYC. It was chamber of commerce weather here this morning. 55 degrees and no wind at the start.

Who's next?

Tamster ought to be done racing by now?

Lucky your Hemerocalus, running 10 trail miles!

No running here, it is snowing and windy, no need to be out there. I plan to spend the day doing some home-caring, cooking for brunch for my guys (DS came home early this morning) and then going to a dance workshop. It should be fun.

Go Tammy go!!! I sure hope it is not snowing for you!

Good morning, all. Only 3 short miles for me today, since tomorrow is my solo marathon in the park. Yes, I just randomly decided it was time to finally do the distance and get over it already. I'll have my 4-bottle fuel belt with me, as well as passing my car twice during the loop repeats, so I think I'm well covered on the refueling end. I know that everyone says that if you can run 20 miles, you can run 26, but call me a skeptic, I just need to experience it to know for real. I hope to finish in 4:30 or so. So we'll see!

Mari, enjoy your snow. Go Tamster! Good luck to all the weekend racers!!

No company for me, and not even any other runners here in my town. Guess they're in Tulsa for the marathon. 6.5 very easy with solarmix #7. Then we went with DS to what was supposed to be his last soccer game of the season, but the other team didn't show so our guys scrimmaged.

13 miles in 1:41:31 (7:48/mi). Hated just about every minute of it for numerous stupid reasons that aren't worth mentioning.
If I did not have a HM to train for in three weeks, I'd stop running for a while. I think I need a break.

Yippie, we got some SNOW! There isn't a flake where I live (say nothing), but as Mustang Sally and I went out to the lakes, well, there it was!
Kind of hard getting used to dressing for the cold, but the new Icebreaker is teh thang. Pretty powder blue too.
Brunch after made it a perfect morning! Wish you could have joined us, Heme. Nice run!

Lab, maybe it's seasonal. I felt kinda blah this morning, until I got out. The sun hit some snowy branches at just the right angle. It was so pretty!

GL tomorrow, OM. Enjoy!

Hope Tammy and Johnny are enjoying themselves.

you are funny KS - thinking I would be done when you posted that at 9:30. I was only into about mile 3.5 by then.

I woke up to snow this morning! Just a dusting but then it started coming down in big flakes as I was leaving my house at 8 a.m. , but by the time I got to the highway, there was nothing. We were lucky that it didn't rain at all either this morning. In fact there were even some sun breaks in the clouds at times, but about 10 min after I finished, a few rain drops started. perfect timing for the race.

It was a fun HM this morning. Lots and lots of people I knew were there so it was just so much fun seeing friends I don't always gets to see on a regular basis.

no big expectations with this HM. I haven't been putting in the long runs consistently, so I knew that would bite me. I was figuring on about a 2:05 or right around a 9:15 pace. I ended up running a 2:01:06 for 5th AG. Not sure how many in my AG though - will have to check that later. but in that last 1.5 miles I did end up passing a lady and as it turned out she was in my AG, so I was glad I focused on her and made it my goal to catch up to her.

here's my splits:

9.08

8.56

8.58

8.54

9.04

9.06

9.11

9.19

9.01

9.23

9.13

9.24

9.08

2.23

my garmin read 13.25 miles so that's why that last time of 2.23 is so high.

had some good minestrone soup at the finish and that tasted good. once I stopped running, I got cold real fast!

Saw Johnny before the race and we ran the first 1.5 or so together thru the park. He was running the 10K today, so wanted to take off faster.

It was a fun day, but I'm sure glad to be home and warm now!

Hi all

Nice consistent splits Tamster, I see you did a little better than you thought. I saw your friend from work (sorry don't remember his name) as I was leaving. He was in 3rd place overall with about 3 miles to go. As for me......bla bla bla.....ran 1 second per mile faster than last years short 10K course. Last year 1st in the 50-59AG......this year 3rd in the 60-69 AG......that doesn't seem right......I think after the 1st of the year I'm going to have to get serious and start doing speed work again. You're right, it's cold....got home and bundled up in front of the wood stove......

good running to all.

Nice run labduck. A day or two off and your head will bounce back to an SSSOM. (Sans Souci State Of Mind) Wouldn't that be terrific?!

Golfed today. Won a turkey. (Mostly because I know how to pick my partners.)

Enjoy the gift.

thanks. John, my co worker (justin) was pretty mad at the finish. He would have finished at around 1:35 had it not been for being misdirected and told by the CSO's at the corner of Lincoln and M, to head down M. He ran down M almost all the way into town before he and the 2 others behind him, realized this was not right. He ran a total of 15 today and still ended up 1st AG with a time of 1:52. But his bigger focus was getting in around 18 today and then tapering for CIM. although he only ended up doing 15 today so he could hang around the finish and wait for me.

good running John. Sometimes it's just a crapshoot who'll be in your AG and where you'll place. My friend Deborah, who you also met, ended up 3rd OA and 1st AG in the5K with a time of 27:20. you just never know!

Nancy, I do think I will do Newport again, IF there is not a Minnesota marathon I want to run later that month. We will be in MN for about 10-12 day probably more towards the end of June. So, my first choice will be to run one there as I wouldn't always have opportunities to do so. But if that timing just doesn't work for one, then it'll be Newport . . . probably.
