...our track got Vandalised last week......

when I pulled up to the gate, it was LOCKED.

First Time in 26-years.

hopefully

this will not be an ongoing thing.

since I count The Track as a Church for Runners, this makes me incredibly sad.

========

it gets worse....

.....changed into my Asolo Fusions and off to the trails.....

my hamstring popped me about 10-minutes in

and I hadn't wanted a run on uneven ground today anyway,

Big ThunderBoomer last night made 'em slick too.

the Stage was Set......

held on for 20-minutes and said ''Scroot''

not great,

but the Bad Ones Count Double.....

.....................good running guys..............Off to my 2nd Church....

That stinks, TW! I sure hope the track is repaired quickly, and that your day improves too.

I had a decent spin class this morning; the regular instructor wasn't there but the substitute played OK music, although she had a scowl on her face the whole time (I think actually her face is always like that). DH and I played the "who sweated more" game afterwards and he won, although I was awfully wet too. My hips are sore but not dreadful, so I'll take that as a positive!

A little cleaning, a little laundry, and a little reading are on tap for the rest of the day. Yesterday we saw Eat Pray Love and it was good but not nearly as good as the book, but I think that's pretty typical. Julia Roberts was wonderful.

Enjoy your day,

Good morning all,

Twice around the lake this morning for 19.9 miles. Still warm & humid, but with the NE breeze you could imagine cool fall temperatures arriving soon.

Have a great Sunday.

Oh Tom, that just sucks! I keep expecting 'them' to lock the gates someday to the track I use, but it hasn't happened yet. I would probably climb the fence, but I would really prefer not to.

Today is National Relaxation Day, and that's my plan. I think I'll take my cues from Howie the Helper Cat, who prefers to sleep with a pillow:

Hi Susan! Nice LR, Paul!

Well that just sucks, TW.... hope your day gets better!

Good racing yesterday, Econo!

After yesterday's 10 miler, I figured spending a couple of hours after weeding the vegetable bed would keep the ankles limber. Wrong! By nightfall, I has hobbling around like an old lady, so finally conceded to sitting down and icing and taking an Aleve. Much better this morning, good enough for a 2.6 mile easy run. The stretch on the bridge after was lovely.

Have a glorious day, everyone!

ETA: great pic of Howie, Lab!!

Nice LR Mari!

mc, nice wipe-out work-out yesterday!

8.1 slow miles on tired legs. Luckily, there was a nice breeze!

Enjoy your day!

ETA: This past week Hartford hosted the National Gymnastics Championships. My daughter and I went to the women's on Thursday and finals last night. Those girls are incredible!

Oh boo, tomwhite! And how's the hamstring feeling now? Anything that goes "pop!" makes me worried, mostly because I've suffered my (un)fair share of pops, so I know they don't usually feel too nice. Yeah, I think Howie the Helper Cat has the right idea for today.

It's almost chilly here in the metropolitan northeast today (mid 70s, mostly cloudy and 60% humidity). I wore a sleeveless shirt and should've opted for a short-sleeved one instead. I ran 5 faster-paced miles in the park, then met up with my running partner for 2 more a bit slower, which was an excellent combination for me today. All total, 7.15 miles today. It was a very good week.

Farmer's market on tap for this afternoon, since I'm out of salad greens and fruit yet again. Hope the rain holds off long enough.

Enjoy the day, all!

Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for NO RAIN for Wednesday afternoon/evening here. I'm taking my DH and my mom to see Garrison Keillor in an outdoor theater.

Thanks,

Oh my Tom white, that is a terrible thing. It is just sad that this would happen. Sorry.

9 miles in the cool morning air. Fall can't be far away!

Kids start school tomorrow. They are excited to be at the same school again. Am I old enough to have two high schoolers? When did that happen?

No, Seemom, you are not old enough to have two high schoolers! When my eldest was a senior the youngest was an incoming freshman. Back then they initiated the freshman who had senior siblings during the first day assembly. My youngest was wrapped in saran wrap, inch-wormed his way down the length of the gym floor, and took a cream pie to the face by his big brother and in front of the entire school. Fortunately, he had friends who were in the same boat and they all loved being the center of attention so it was a good time for them. But I'm really glad they don't do that any more to the younger siblings.

It almost looks like Helper Cat is sleeping on top of a mouse -- is that a tail sticking out?

Nice racing and falling in the creek, Econo!

My quads were sore from my downhill running yesterday so I did an ez 3 miler this morning to loosen things up. Headed over to see my nephews soon.

Yes Tammy, I just asked DS and he admits laughing "a little" when I fell in the creek. By golly, it's hard to get yourself upright again once you've fallen, because the darned rocks are slippery!

12 pokey slow miles...absolutely no reason to go fast today and many reasons to take it easy.

Tomwhite, very sorry for you. Paul, before church I was bragging on you doing those long runs. It's hard to imagine now that I'm not doing them.

Good eyes choovie! Howie is sleeping on one of his felt mice. He likes to gather his toys in one spot and then fall asleep on the pile.

Econo, great experience yesterday! And wise move to be slow today.

3 easy recovery miles for me plus some XT then off I went to take part of our annual Stampede Parade. Our Latino float took first place. I am mighty proud of our group.

aww Tom. that's too bad. Hope that lock is not a permanent fixture.

sluggish day here. That sun yesterday just really zapped me of all energy. But while DS was at a bday party, I went to the gym for a couple hrs. Ran 5 mi on the TM, did some weights and called it good. Will get in some core work tonight, although I think my abs got a decent workout yesterday with all the paddling - they were a bit sore this a.m. Of course, it's probably because they are sorely out of shape too.

nice short week for me - only working M-W. yippee!!

No time to read the thread right now, I'll come back to catch up.

We broke a record for heat today. That may sound really impressive, but the old record is 86, and we're at 90 right now... at almost 4 pm. I got out for my long run later than I'd like, but I tried to be smart about pace, fuel and hydration. Seems to have worked.

20.1 miles, 8:18 avg pace, drank about 60 oz total (water and Luna Chix Grapefruit electrolyte splash), and still lost 5 lbs. That last mile was really hard, and I did stop a couple times... feeling a little sunstroke coming on I think. I did have about 30 minutes of "stoppage" time on this run. That was time to get water, use the restroom at a hotel, meet DH at mile 10 with a drink (talked about some strategic planning for the rest of the run), and a stop at my parents to refill water again, bring them their paper and talk a bit. Not sure how those stops impact the "value" of the long run, but I couldn't have finished without them, I'm sure.

45 miles in heat that approached 100 (might have even hit that). Not anywhere near my goal, but the heat was too dangerous. I spent over half an hour in the med tent thinking I was going to drop, but ended up finding my groove again.

Off for a cool shower and bed now

I'm glad you checked in Dove. I was worried about you. 45 miles in today's heat IS impressive.

Keep cool!
