Good Morning Kicksters!

GL to Pro & Robin in Derry!

5 miles today for me outdoors - 25 degrees and light breeze. Felt great to be outdoors! I broke out a pair of new sneakers today. I stretched my last pair before surgery so that I would be able to break out a new pair once outdoors again.

Good running & cross training to all that follow!

Hello Pink

Pro and Robin - good luck today and hope that snow isn't a hinderance!

Today I have a 30 VRAA pt personal goal - it will be a multi-sport event that includes swimming, yoga, walking and running - ladies and gentlemen start your engines! But maybe I'll just sit here a few minutes more with some coffee and my book.

Good morning all! I am happy to be resting today, from all sorts of exercise. Already trained an early morning client, and just demoing the pilates and other core exercises we do got my abs nice and awake this morning, yet still giving all systems a break for a change. My later client called to be saying she'd be coming a couple hours later, so I'm having a nice relaxing Sunday morning for a change, something I don't remember doing for a very long time.

Just made a nice breakfast for Mr. OrangeMat who's lounging on the couch watching some movie (Fast Food Nation, I think he said). Just some scrambled eggs and toast and tea, nothing fancy, but when it's made by someone else and served to you, it always tastes better, ya know? He's still in celebratory mode himself from his very first 5 mile run yesterday on the TM. He was in awe that he actually ran more than I did for once. S'ok, no competition, 'cause we're all on the same team.

Bright and sunny here today, a brisk 29F that I'm rather enjoying just looking at instead of being in. GL to the racers and enjoy the day, all!

10 Miles for me with neg split despite coming back the uphills...these strength runs are more tough mentally than physically for me. Started at 8:45 pace, settled into 8:15 for a while and 'turned the screws' for the final 2 miles at 7:15 and 6:55.

DS2's party is today with planned snowfootball in the front yard with a dozen mighty mites, then capture the flag. Plenty of time outs for hot chocolate as the temp is 30 now. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Very tough running for me today - legs felt like lead and breathing was horrible. I walked 1 mile and ran 2 miles, then did 21 mins of rowing and 10 mins of stretching. Now I'm really beat and I think it's going to be a day of lounging around and tidying up the house. I have a new book to read so that will be really nice.

Have a great day, everyone.

GL to Robin and Pro today. Wonder if it's snowing there....

Pink....I'm so glad your runs are going well...chinups and push ups... you may be tiny but you sure are mighty!! Maybe Derry for us next year??? What do you think??

LaT, OM & Riley...enjoy your books and your Sunday
Rinda...enjoy your breakfast, lucky you!

Dtoce....your beginning pace is faster than my GA pace, nice run. Have fun with the kiddies later.

10 feeling great miles for me this morning at slightly faster than GA pace. It didn't feel cold to me and started to flurry as I was in my last mile.

After last Thursday's run my calf was bothering me so I rode the bike Friday and took yesterday off. Today only mild discomfort in the calf and just at the end of the run. Maybe this will finally disappear!

Enjoy your day!

Good morning. GL to RT and the Pro.

Dtoce, that birthday party sounds fun. I think my DS2 has a city rec flag football game today that we might try to attend. They are playing in an indoor arena for the winter.

Hoping to do a wee bit of xc skiing later today after housework but will have to see how it goes.

Some of you asked to see the slide show my son did for the running club. I can't post to YouTube because it's over 10 minutes but see if this link works. It's about 20 minutes so don't feel like you need to watch the entire thing

Good runs and breakfasts and other stuff out there already. 2.5 miles in my xc shoes today. Don't wear them very often as I prefer my trailies when running over mixed surfaces, but I've a race next month so time to give them an airing and find some real squishy mud!

Econo, hopefully it's the dry fluffy kind. It's my fav and get it rarely. We get the hard, icy kind. The rule as a kid was "no slushballs" but some jerk always broke the rule. It does pack into a snowball better than the fluffy kind.

Hectic schedule today but I'll squeeze in a short run this evening. Paul, like I said yesterday, good race! See, no fine for the report. I talked to Laurie this morning and she wants the three of us to get together Saturday for a run.

Great Sunday runs everyone....

Today, out at 8:00 AM...26....calm, foggy, wet degrees....

The trees were covered in White frost....and what was really interesting....my running buddy and I (after a few miles) noticed that the hair on our legs were frozen and white....

Wish we had taken a pic.

He arrived a little early and had already run five miles, I hung in and ran 16..my first LR since Houston and at a reasonable 9:05 pace during the first 10 miles, 9:15 for the remainder....so I was pleased....

By the time this run was over (the last few miles) the fog had burned off and the sun was shining....should reach the mid 60's today.

Now, on my way the Gainesville Texas see my parents..

Hi everyone. I have been posting over in the regular Run and Race report forum, but I'll give this a try now.

Did 14 miles today - temp in the upper 20's with steady snow. The footing on the uphills was a little slippery, but otherwise it was a great run. Love winter running so much! I don't time my runs, but I'm guessing it was a negative split.

Recovery beer now.

Just 5 recovery km this morning with Hamish, who didn't really understand that "heel" meant, "heel, dammit, there's black ice on the sidewalk, you idiot!"

But we both survived, and he is sacked out on the floor looking happy. Coach is really winding things up for next week: 6 runs, and I see the LR (finally) stretching a bit.

DD is marginally better - thanks to all who have enquired or offered sympathy. I'm thanking my stars that I opted for the flu shot this year. Given all the exposure I've had to this bug, I'm very fortunate to only have spent a couple of days feeling grimy.

Hi Kicksters! No caregiver, havn't been able to get out for a few days, but have been doing alot of testing indoors on the TM. Played with different HR's, paces, made video's of my running, checked my cadence, played with cadence etc. Read stuff on lydiard and various other coaches.

There is no physiological reason for me to run as slowly as I do even at easy pace.

My learned cadence is approx 160 strides per minute.

My stride length is about 3 ft.

I feel like I am running when I run about 7:50 or better but won't maintain it.

I can run pretty fast if I want to.

Form and foot fall looks good.

Conclusion: I think it is time to unlearn most of what I know about running and start over.

12.5 mi w/10k race, 39:49, 34th oa, 4th ag (40-49)

ran a smarter race this time, very negative splits, and hit some nice high heart rates, peaked at 169 in last 100m. dang college kid though; he had 100m on me at 4mi... i had moved past the pack i was running with and tried to bridge the gap. at 6mi he was 5m ahead of me, then with 100m to go, zoop, up on his toes, running 9.94 for the last 100m i think. dang kids. he was a member of the pima comm. college track and field team, who hold this race as a fund raiser every year... so he couldn't get beat by and old guy.

15 sec slower than last year. fits right in with my 60 sec slower marathon. the difference for 2008: i will not get injured during the next week, like i did in 2007. (fingers crossed)

Holy cow! I agree with that. I've been running for 47 years. Don't know nothin about HRMs, cadence or any of that shit. I don't even time my runs anymore. All you need is a good pair of shoes. Put them on and run.

JJJ, I'm guessing BIL is The Dress. That's hilarious. I love Utilikilts.
Uh-oh. I forgot to warn Robin about Pro's proclivity to "bump" competitors off their game. Bet she's on to that and smoked him at the finish.
Pink, great seeing you coming back.
Dirt's surviving the downpours. Wow. That'll toughen you up. (Step away from the chainsaw )
MS, same conditions here but beautifully sunny!
mc, you know you'd be under that time if you hadn't RIPPED that 3-miler the other day. Nice AG finish in a big group.
