Good morning, TEAM LIT!

Otts: Nice, nice, nice run yesterday, and you are so right in that running trails (as long as they aren't too technical nor too much elevation) is so much easier on the body than a comparable run on the roads. Great run for you. That should give you confidence for "C".

1 hour trail run early this morning with two others. Covered, maybe, 6 miles.

Jen - great job yesterday, I Love Trail Running!

Rest day. Sunday without heading out for running or biking is no fun . But I am trying to be smart - I think I have beaten up my body well over the long season an I am not bouncing back from each workout quickly. Legs complain when you just carry a basket full of laundry upstairs.... To climb at 6000ft altitude straight for - who knows for how long, maybe 2hrs - fresh set of legs and mind are definately needed for me to see the finish line.

Good news is, I finally measured the weight of the bike I was riding; 30.5lbs. DH's (sizeM): 26lbs. FS demo bike I tried yesterday: 24lbs. The bike I am riding at Natls: 24lbs. So at least I got a lighter bike to push to the Snowbasin. Yay!

9 miles of late summer/early fall heat.

ummmm....yeah....

Marine Corps is looking less and less likely.

My legs just do NOT have the miles in them....

my lungs were ok today, but as the miles went on the legs got deader and deader, heavier and heavier.

I am wondering if all the stuff with dad just eat too much into my base...

seeing as how I really don't have years and years of a running base to start with.

I think I was overly optimistic that the IM fitness would last.

But, after that race, dad had his initial surgery, and the subsequent loss of training,

then his death and my illness.....

then the botched spring full marathon in ATL....

so, maybe I just tried to go too long, too soon.

I still plan on going to the race, though, because I told some folks I would go in on hotel rooms, and I don't want to stiff them the price.

I'll sherpa/support, etc. as needed. Plus, it will give me an idea of what the venue is like, the expo, etc.

I have until the 30th of this month to make a final decision.....

but, only being able to make 9 of the 15 scheduled miles today doesn't put a lot of confidence in my corner.

DH and I had a good spin class this morning, and now we're heading out to an antiques expo. We don't have anything special to look for, but there's no charge to enter it so it's a nice thing to do on a pleasant afternoon.

Lots of good workouts posted above - Stitcher, I hope things improve. And Happy Birthday to Flip! Enjoy your rainy run.

Tomorrow I'm planning on running a few miles. I'm going to have an exceptionally busy week so I like to start it off on a good footing, so to speak.

Enjoy your day everyone,

Stitch- I hope things get better. Just work back up slowly. If you can't race, no biggie. There are other races.

Flip- Happy Birthday!

Well, I'm about to go take a nap!!! If I don't, I'll never get through my scheduled 2 hour run today. It is so humid, it's going to be tough to get through it anyway. Plus, I haven't quite done the long mileage I was supposed to do the last few weeks. I'll be fine, but I really need to do this run for my confidence. I REALLY want to have a good run at my HIM. I've been working really hard on improving my running, since that seems to be my biggest weakness of the 3. Swimming is no problem, and biking I can hang, but the run always kills me -- looking at others my speed in the other two, my run is always WAY slower! It is getting better, though! I'm just hoping not to have tummy issues this year on the run. I don't think I will. I learned from my last HIM.

Happy B-Day Flip!

For me I had 32 miles of the most lung-searing, gut-wrenching hills I have ever experienced. I was way out of my league. And the descents were like something out of the tour. Crazy speeds with hard, hair-pin turns. My poor bike has never been through anything like it. I now need new break pads.....

55 minute run this morning. After just two weeks of all those Insanity workouts I can feel a marked improvement in my run. My turn over is faster, I feel stronger and just really peppy.

Just got back from church for baptism #4 for the summer. Headed to the reception hall shortly for some food, wine and Greek dancing.

Stitcher...I'm sorry things have been so tough. Makes it hard to be motivated to train and race. Be good to yourself!!! Hang in there!!!

Flip - happy happy day to you!!!! Definitely do your b-day run!!!

Thanks all for the good thoughts about yesterday's run. Thor - it TOTALLY gave me confidence for the big C. Most of my training has been and will continue to be on road, so this was eye opening and fun. Hoping for one more long one before the race.

Today...5m bike path run pushin' the Little Otters. Still sore from yesterday, so the downhill was tough, but glad to get out there and work through some of the fatigue.

Sparti....

Yeah...I was thinking that would be a good backup....

seeing as how it was the target last spring that ended up being a half marathon...

and a close call w/ time miscalculation....

maybe if i do it this year, and tithers is doing it...i'll wake up on time!

Did a 12.35 mile run in around 1:45:00 on Sunday morning. All was well and good, I felt good after the run. I did some chores around the house, played with the family, etc. Then I went to clean my bike, and BANG, my rear derailler cable is shot. I was supposed to do an hour and 15 minutes on the trainer at 100+ RPMs, to work the legs out a bit, but it wasn't going to happen. Now I have to try and get my bike to the shop tonight before it closes at 7PM (I have my daughters soccer practice from 5:30 - 6:30PM). Arrrggghhhh!
