Good Morning!

I was suprised it was 41 degrees out this morning! So I pulled out a long sleeve shirt and vest (I am a wimp), but still went with shorts. What a drastic change from last weekend.

6 easy, untimed miles.

Have a good day!

It's a gorgeous day here too! I went to the gym and walked 5 mins, ran 30 mins, and walked 5 mins. I put a lot of low rolling hills on the treadmill and it went well. I was tired but feeling good when it was over.

Now we're heading out to do a short, 2 mile hilly hike with the dogs (french bulldogs).

Nice run! You had a nice cool morning for it! I was just checking the forecast for my last long run and it's suppose to be up near the low 80's by Friday and I can't get out until after the school bus . I'll have to stash some water along the way so I don't have to go beg for it like last time!

I'm hoping my run will be 24, if not, 23 will do. I still haven't commited any money yet . Have you signed up yet? How far are you planning your last run to be 2 weeks before?

Another setback after a dust incident at work on Thursday. I feel bad about complaining, but this time was bad... so the HVAC guy came out Friday with promises to clean the vents, duct work, change the filters, so we shall see. I think the backup plan is to switch desks with someone who isn't directly under a vent.

So, anyway yeah this is affecting me, Thursday could only handle 1 mile running on the treadmill. Yesterday went to the track & could only handle 2 miles run/walk.. one lap run, one lap walk, etc. So, at least I got out there, burned some calories and got some air into the bronchials. I feel good about that. I could've been a couch potato, but decided against that. Doctor appt on Thursday, so lots to discuss.....

Glad to see everyone is still here.

PRO! That's some run today...nice job. (I'm sure SS won't mind you stalking...er, targeting her).

I didn't run this morning. Just did a 2 mile walk with my kids at the "Corporate Cup". My husband always does the 10K race for his company, which he ran this morning in 46:14.

It was a nice morning for a race...brisk and sunny with a little breeze. That and the race festivities made me wish I was running. Oh, well. There will be lots of other races for me.

Good day, everyone.

Rinda, I'm sorry to hear this. You're allowed to complain here, doncha know? Besides, it's not complaining. It's just letting us all know where you're at so that we can support you. I hope switching desks at work fixes things. It's good that the HVAC guy seems to be responsive, too.

As for running, just keep doing what you're able to do and no more. It seems you have a very good feel for what that limit is.

The Pink Fairy surfaced today for the Terry Fox Run. She tattooed young and old with the image of his beautiful smiling face. Cheered everyone like a loonie. My work is done.

Hi all. I'm back from my wknd away. Had a nice relaxing wknd with 8 other friends up at a ranch house in the mountains. I ran Saturday a.m. nice and early with frost still on the windows. Only brought running shorts though, but did think to throw in my long sleeve running shirt at the last minute. Could have used my running gloves though - took the hands about 3 miles to warm up. Only did 4 miles, but it was trail running and I felt a little tight afterwards, but some of that could have been residual from my 11 mile run on Friday a.m. All in all a good wknd - lots of fun, but glad to be back home and sleep in my own quiet home tonight.

aww Lab, I'm sorry to hear it's not healing. What kinds of things do they have you doing to heal it? just rest or is there something more proactive you can do?

You're doing great Riley
Nice 23 for the PRO.
Lab, massage, ice, stretch and IBUPROF the heel, over and over and over-That what SS got me to do, and it's well enough to run and still improving. Magic? Maaaaaaybe.

46F this AM, I ran 19k up on Iron Mt. I did a slow jog 2K to the ridge line then walked the ups- ran the downs. Last 5 miles were on pavement in Beartree Campground. Wasn't so tired when I finished, just some #5 pain here and there.
DW and I walked a couple of miles before dinner.
Pleasant day, feeling better now.
The little girls especially love the Pink Fairy. I'm not sure whether they or I had the most fun. Pressing those Terry tattoos onto their little hands and having them count to 30 made my day.

I know how you're feeling, and I took my cranky self into my PT's office when I felt things weren't improving after a lengthy period of time. Maybe her advice to me at that time is worth a try, Lab.

I was told to walk for a good 10-15 minutes. Apparently this warms up the foot and the old scar tissue (I hope I've got this right). It shouldn't hurt at this point. Then try a very slow jog. I did this on the trail: level surface but soft underfoot. Oh, and I also had some gel heel pads in my shoes.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is apparently there is such a thing as overcautiousness with this particular problem -- at least that was true in my case. I thought it was wrong to venture out until pain had completely disappeared. Apparently there's a difference between the old (initial) injury, with resultant scar tissue, and creating new problems.

I'm not saying our problems are identical, but I'm hoping this may be some little bit of help (and hope). I can phone my PT tomorrow and ask about this again to make sure I'm clear in my explanation.

Hang in there, Dear Duck.

Thanks, JJJ. I'm assuming LabDuck is a good (though cranky) patient and is diligent with what his podiatrist or PT has suggested. I think that massage before stepping foot out of bed is really important.

These injuries are pesky. I still don't have proper flexibility in my ankle, so it's back to the full regime on that one (I have kept up the stretching). I'm still a tad anxious from time to time about my PF (from April!) which is probably a good thing, so it still gets the morning massage and ice from time to time. The chassis has a bit of rust.

I'm comforted to hear you're back in the mountains. Even more so that you had no bear encounters.

Let's see, I've been to two different PTs, one chiro, my general physician, and one podiatrist. Nothing has helped! The foot hurts as much as it did the day I really messed it up the week before Hood To Coast. I'm going to another podiatrist this week. He's one of the best Masters runners on the West Coast. Of course, he's not covered by my insurance, so it will be $$$. We'll see if he has anything different to say. And I am still seeing one of my PTs, a triathlete, and she has taken on my PF has her own personal crusade. She says she can feel all the scar tissue at the PF insertion point, and she's frustrated she can't break it down better.

Just for clarification, when I say my foot hurts, I mean that every single step I take when I walk I feel pain in my heel and arch area, no matter how long I walk. The walking pain was supposed to have been gone by now. Ironically, my foot has the least amount of pain when I first wake-up in the morning, counter to most cases of PF. It's just very frustrating...
