Good morning. I went to the gym and hit the treadmill for 30 mins of running and 20 mins of walking (w/u and c/d). Then 10 mins of rowing and lots and lots of stretching.

Hope you all have a great day.
no sleet here in paradise, thank goodness, but it looks like some rain is on the way........I hope it holds off until this evening so I can get my run in.

I've been scarce at CR of late, but I had to go check out what everyone was making reference to. I think all parties need to be sent to bed without dinner, or lose their hannah montana tickets.

Ya Pie the quads are a little sore. But not as bad as last weekend really though. It took all week and I just barely got them ready for yesterday.
Do I have to run before I post?? I'm still trying to wake up after another 11 or 12 hours of sleep. Hubby is most displeased by my laziness this long weekend but I could care less. All this aerobic cooking I've been doing has wiped me out. I'd better step away from the kitchen.

Hey, I actually saw the end of that KY vs TN game. Fun stuff. I also watched U of MT lose a tough one. Rats. I felt sorry for the kicker who has done so great all year but missed the game winning kick.

Tomwhite, your track time sounds nice.

TripleJay, anxious to hear the details.

Wondering how mcsolar's 21 miler went this morning.

High 5's to Sal for her articulate CR troll comments.

Hi all..
Gotta go over and read Sal's comments. SR thought she's a very talented writer .. er runner.. er writer.. (both)

So much for reverse Taper...with my half coming up Saturday, I HAD to run the Turkey race Thurs. Today I HAD to go long to confirm stamina, and while I was going long, I HAD to finish FAST! 17.7 miles in 2:31:40 (8:34 AHR 15. Last 3 miles 7:44. 7:54, 7:30. A little soreness in left calf, otherwise all is perfect!
Now to take it easy til Saturday!
Broke 40 mpw this week vs 23 planned... my bad

TW - nice time at the track.
Choovie - with all your cooking, you deserve to be lazy today! I've been lazy lately and I have no cooking excuse

Perch - 17 miles over you planned milage? Take it easy the next few days!

JJJ - nice to hear your moving without any broken parts! I'll have to go read you rr!

Pro - nice 19:10! Yeah, my turkey run was Manchester. Did not go as well as last year but I think a lot of it had to do with my very slow recovery from Hartford.

SS - sounds like you'll be running soon !!!

7.5 untimed, warmer than yesterday miles.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Good morning everyone!

I'll be heading to the gym a bit later this afternoon. DS has a rock climbing lesson, so I'll probably get in some type of workout afterwards. I want to go running, but don't know if I necessarily need to run 6 days this week . . .I'm not training, I'm not trying to PR on my monthly mileage . . . but I just love seeing how much mileage I can squeeze in . . . although I know I could really benefit from some cross training - so maybe I'll give the knees a break and do a few miles on the elliptical, then some weights. Got to keep working on that core and planks too. I'd like to be able to do one minute on both the left and right armed planks.

DS had a friend sleep over last night and they actually slept in til 8:30! wow I couldn't believe it. Of course, I did let them stay up until 11:00 p.m. LOL

Have a good day all! I am so envious of all the Seattle marathoner's. I SOOOO wish I could have made the trip up there, but it just wasn't in the finances. Maybe another year. Can't wait to read all the reports though.

Just over 10 miles easily at a slow pace, chilly morning, wearing tights for the first time and my new favorite gloves and headband. I found that old familiar zone where I felt I could close my eyes and run forever, and I might as well have because I was in such a rush to get out I forgot to put in my contacts this morning.
Cheers
Just to show we all have different perspectives on things, I read what happened over at CR and there is no way I would defend either side of that fracas. The two main parties involved are equally guilty in my opinion and both should be ignored. Very ugly!

Rest day for me. Going shopping with Mrs. Labduck. I'm probably not going to run again for at least another week. Maybe two weeks. Maybe not again this year. Not until the pain in my foot has subsided to the point that I think it's ready. Not when my podiatrist(s), or physical therapist, or chiropractor, or general physician thinks it's ready. None of them really seem to have a clue what's going on in regards to my foot.

I agree with you Lab. I see fault in both sides. So instead of putting in my two cents, I'm just going to blame Tramps. At least this time it's not Millbot's fault. . . . errr, at least I don't think it is?

I think your non-running approach might be a wise one Lab. Will you continue pool running and swimming, etc. ? Better to take a few months completely off and come back better and stronger. Did you ever have any luck finding an osteopath? I was surprised that it was hard to find one in Portland.

Shoot - I was going to blame millbot. I read the original post of the discussion; can't figure out how it got so far out of hand. I like the smallness of our board but would be very welcome of some newbies.
Tom - wtg Tenn. Jayhawks didn't come thru but had a good season.
Looks like some good runs and workouts. Rest day for me. I'm going to find a sports massage therapist this week. Never had a sports massage but my legs are telling me it's time.

Cold, rainy here in C.C. Rest day for me though.

Something about that other board has made me argumentative at times, which is a sort of occupational hazard that doesn't usually come out with the running community. I hope I never get into that here. Of course, we have more smilies and stuff.

Tamster, I think you need to run 7 days a week, for me. Labduck, I know what you mean about the injury. As much as I want someone to tell me when to start running again, I know it's when I think I'm ready. I thought that was today but I was wrong. When I got up from kneeling at the altar, I felt it in the ankle again. So I'll row if I can squeeze it in this afternoon while the Y is still open. We have shopping and stuff to do.

Didn't plan to run ... and I ran
Meant to refrain from leaf raking ... the bags didn't fill up by themselves

As long as I was breaking my own rules, I decided not to eat any of the chocolate that I bought yesterday.

Still not sure what all happened in CR, but regardless - MS is a lion-hearted champion!

Choovie it all averages out.

Tammy, the issues I'm having with finding osteopaths in Portland is the combination of insurance coverage and expertise of the osteopath. My insurance company considers them alternative medicine, and not too many of them are listed as eligible providers. Of the ones listed, only one lists sports medicine as a specialty. I know this guy since I went to college with him. He was pre-med, but failed organic chemistry miserably, and barely graduated with a biology degree. Apparently he went on to get an O.D. degree in lieu of an M.D. This does not instill much confidence in me towards his ability. Plus, I really don't know what an osteopath would do differently from the other treatments I've had. I'm trying to find that out now.

Just a quick Seattle half race report. 1:41:17, watch. I am ecstatic. I had hoped to break 1:45, a 1:43 if I had a good day. This is a course PR and my fastest half marathon in a few years. My PR is 1:39XX, both on flat courses, so I'm considering this a damn good race. Certainly, it is proof that we masters can come back from injury and be stronger than ever.

I ignored the watch again and ran by feel. There was someone calling out splits at the mile markers and I just knew that each time I was running under 8 min. miles but didn't know by how much.

Our boomer dinner was full of surprises. I am still in shock.

More soon.
