Tom, please be sure to give us a CR (concert report) when it's all over. I'm sure it will go well. And be careful with those weights!

10K today for me, 52:29 (8:27). Now for some chores. Go Pats!

Good runs, all!

Watch your back Tom

Got in 4 miles yesterday just as the freezing rain started. Things are pretty slick today So I think I shall stay in and do some core exercise and decorate the tree with DW.

Have a great day all

Good Morning TW, IRM and RH and all others to follow!

Nice LR's yesterday MB and KS!

TW - take care of the back. I'm sure your concert will be wonderful!
RH - have fun decorating the tree - our house will be doing the same today also.
Mike - nice 10k!

I ran my usual Sunday morning run sans watch . . . 1 hour later than usual . . . I like it earlier - less traffic. Anyways, 6 slow miles. Felt a little warmer here - about 30 degrees and no wind ().

Good runs and x-training to all!

Morning gang.
No exercise yet today and not sure whether any is coming. This morning was dad and daughter Christmas shopping adventure. Breakfast at the diner and then off to Target too shop for the girl's presents to mom and stocking stuffers. Now we are back home before I head out sans kids and finish up my list. If the weather holds off (ice storm headed this way) I may get a run in this afternoon.
Anyone heard from Pete on his marathon??

c'ya later,
too fast, 16.5 at 7:14 pace. tried to hang on with the faster guys. except he was doing a medium 12, followed by 8 at race pace. when he took off on 6:10 min/mi, the other two of us slowed to 7:40 or so. uggg. will probably cheat and run 3 later today just to get 80 for the week.

Good morning everyone!

Because I started here at Kick, the CR people are new to me, so Hi all!

12 miles today using DD's Ipod. I never run with music and once I got through the Hannah Montanna and HSM stuff there was some Daughtry, Bon Jovi and other decent songs to listen to. I liked using it but am too used to running without music. I probably won't use it again any time soon. It was a nice change though.

Has anyone ever used a bike converter? We don't have any cardio equipment and don't want to spend the money on any right now, so we thought about getting one of these. They are cheap enough, just wondering if they work.

Have a great Sunday!

I felt slow and heavy today, with tight leg muscles and even some left shoulder pain, possibly from the yoga class yesterday. But I persevered & ran 32 mins, with a 10 min w/u and 10 min c/d, plus lots of stretching. Iced my foot (pf) when I got back home.

Dreadful weather here in NY; looks like the heavens are going to open up any second. DH and I are going to an art exhibit b/c today is "free arts" day in Westchester. All the museums have free admission. Pretty neat, huh? And I brought in some firewood for a nice romantic fire later tonight.

Have a great day, all.
Gin, do you mean a trainer? Only used one at the bike shop for fitting but my bike club folks use em all the time.

Tom, I am sure you will do great.

4.1 miles in 38 degrees, no sun and little wind. Weights later.

I thought I'd pop in just to make sure you've got the fresh linens ready for the guests when CR shuts down this week. I suggest putting away the breakables and hiding the valuables too. You just never know with this bunch.

I'll be on my best behavior, though.

BTW, you gotta love a place with an Angela Davis icon.
(That is Angela Davis, isn't it?)

4.75 slow, slow, slow recovery-shuffle miles, in 35F and freakin' sleet. I am grateful that the wind was calm and that The Scot had the espresso machine piping hot and ready to go when I got home.

Coach has added another day of running/week, but it's just 30 ultra slow minutes, so I think I'll adapt well.

Just popping in to say thanks for the well wishes... Thanks to Riley for attempting to decipher my TUI (typing under the influence).

I know some folks are more private and discreet about their medical woes and so, I apologize for wearing my ileum on my sleeve...

But here's the thing... I think that my "putting it all out there" really helped me and here is why...One person did some research and sent me a journal article that helped my tremendously... I was able to print the article and share it with my surgeons, that article supported my "self diagnosis". The docs were prepared for what they found inside and were able to fix it. Excellent.

Also, Susan wrote me and shared her experience and that sort of validated what I have been feeling... before she wrote to me, well, I felt like a complete freak of nature.

I'll probably just lurk for the next few weeks. I was able to go to Mass this morning, so that's a good indication that I am recovering nicely. (Although, I couldn't stand the whole time everyone else was standing, I sat down a bit.)

Thanks for putting up with my saga for the past few months. Hopefully, the last chapter has been written and we can put that book away now.

I'm just sitting here drinking coffee, eating oatmeal cookies, and watching football on our new HD TV. Even bad football (ie, the Oakland Raiders) looks good in HD. WOW!!!

My foot hurts as much today as it did back in August when I stopped running. That really sucks. I think I'll retire to the Recliner of Slugdom for most of the day.

gin: i bought a cyclosimulator back in '93 (when they seemed cheaper) and i really love it. just took it out of storage a month ago, replaced the computer battery, and it fired right up. in this one you lock both wheels into place, so it might be sturdier than other models. i pulled out the fan from the back, and just use the magnetic resistance... it's very quiet and still feels pretty realistic.
http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Trainer/product_87183.shtml

Rose, so glad you are on the healing track! Boomers are the greatest, aren't they?

Tom, I'm sure the singing was breathtaking. Wish I could hear it in person.

I'm in awe of the mileage so many of you are accomplishing. I had a lot of trouble getting in my three miler today. So many people did not clear off their sidewalks after the last snowstorm, and the walks are now bumpy ice traps waiting for an unwary runner to come along...that leaves the street - very dangerous around here. My usual trail is unusable (for running at least). Wish I had a treadmill - or a place to put a treadmill. Okay, enough griping for now. Must go back to studying, finals this week. Wish me luck!
