Hi sweaty and righteous tw and macho mc and recovering Lab.
Nice workout, mc! but I have a Village People song stuck in my head now...thanks.
I really wanted to xc ski today but grass and leaves are still poking through. <img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif">
I did the next best thing, a 45 minute xc recovery run, over the fields and through the woods, beauty below me and above me and all around me.
28F, light breeze, light snowfall.
Nothing cranky after yesterday's race, and I felt better after the run than before.

Evening all, those who follow facebook will know I have had a good weekend
 
Yesterday we stepped in to ensure the 5km we are involved in ran. Quick planning due to weather and an alternative course was found. 12 laps of a very small loop in snow. Fun yes, painful yes, got the win, YES
 
Sunday saw me on the start line for a small marathon. The main race I was supposed to running in was cancelled but the 100 club reacted quickly and organised another race. I am not a member but the organiser knows me so I got an invite. 7 lap course and off we go. 100 metres in and two of us were well clear and 600 metres the other chap was well clear of me. I settled into my pace and the only issue was an upset stomach which stopped me drinking and eating. Nothing changed for 4 laps with me just ticking along. The stomach settled and I managed a gel around 17 miles, I also noticed that I was catching the leader. My pace picked up and by the end of lap 5 I was only 30 seconds behind. Half way round lap 6 we were together and exchanged conversation, his only mistake was to tell me his legs were tight. Thanks to that I took a gamble and pushed the pace and although he tried to come with me I soon had a good gap. Handy really as on the last lap my hammys also went a little tight but this didnt matter as I had the gap and was able to nurse the legs home. Finishing time was 2.55.51. That's 3 sub 3 marathons an AG duathlon win and a sub 3 minute KM in 5 weeks.
 
Feels like the old me is coming back.

Wow - manly men abound today. Nice runs, macho dudes. Love the RR Gobi - obviously the YOUNG you is coming back!
tw - way to go stickless, and I love the song.
mc - I need to channel you in 4 weeks - if only to give me some sort of sproink after today.
lab - I'm happy for the Ducks.
FF - glad you had a beautiful recovery run - sounds perfect!

Did my Half today - first Half ever. 2:25:50. Went out as planned 5 minute run/1 minute walk. 
 
Got to the bridge.

It was 50 F, not bad, but the wind was pretty sharp. Needless to say, it was even sharper on that bridge! The first time over was INTO the wind, which was from the north. I had to stop and walk near the top before my 5 minutes was up, and about then was when THE BRIDGE ATE MY KNEE! Right knee got very gimpy, but it didn't feel like an acute injury, just a worsening of what I've been dealing with. However, once over the top, it was nice to ease up and use gravity and gently coast all the way down - lovely!
 
The pic is from the turn around, so from there we are going back to the bridge and over again. This time I ran up and down the whole way with the wind at my back, and it didn't even feel hard.
 
At this point, it actually hurt more to walk, and the right hip was griping as well.
 
So at mile marker 11 past the bottom of the bridge I figured I'd just run the rest of the way. I was feeling fine, had plenty of energy, just a painful knee. Walked the last 200' of mile 12, then turned it on, and finished strong. Last half mile at at least a 9:30 pace, but I didn't time it.
 
19/43 age group, 173 of all gals (with only a few walkers still to finish). 11:07 pace. I'm thrilled with finishing under 2:30!!!
 
I'm making an appointment with our family Ortho doc ASAP. Am in 2nd cold pack application, in the recliner. Hip feels fine.

Great effort Laura, but like SS, I too am worried about your knee. It sounds like what I (and Gin and GGP) went through, which was a torn meniscus. It's surprising how well you can run with that injury until it finally screams 'no mas'. Here's hoping the best to you.
 
The dungeness crab season is here! We have four we're going to eat tonight. According to Julia Child, this kind of crab is the best food in the world. Hmmmmm....

Let's say bah humbug together. The minute DW got home, she dragged more lights out of the garage & announced I needed to put them up, to go all the way to the end of the house. After some fairly intense shouting by both of us, I got out the ladder.
 
Some great runs around here! Nothing for me today. With my reduced mileage, I could start a 25 x 50 thread (or 24.5 x 49)!

I have been suspecting the torn meniscus for a while (a couple years), but it just wasn't bad enough to justify an MRI. Now it is.
 
Which means I need to consider giving up my marathon spot. I could walk the whole thing, but that seems sorta selfish, if someone else could use my spot and actually run it. Will keep thinking about it. The course is completely flat, so that might help. And I will be doing my exercises like crazy. I'm gonna do so many wall slides every day, people are gonna start thinking there actually is a chair there. 
 
I have no decorations up at all. Used to get so excited about it, when the kids were little. Maybe this weekend. I do love a tree with white lights all over it, though.

I am a bad mama...I fought this Christmas as we know it for an " let us live this season as "we see it" (had to fight hard with the in-loves for that) however 22 years later I am glad to see my sons doing "their Christmas as they see it". 
Mc, your upcoming marathon is going to be amazing!!! loook at your pace up them hills
 
I ran 7 miles today at an HR too high for my liking for the effort, but then again...I did have a beer on behalf of labduckie and a glass of wine on behalf of erika...that can do it!!!
Pleased with another 30 miles weeks as I rest up from the year's mileage and move to the next year's plans.
