Heading out into the arctic tundra for 12 miles. Well, it's 44F and windy but it's close. I'm starting to get anxious about the marathon... a week from today... should be running up LaSalle about now.

RA- enjoy the chilly 12. I'm really diggin this fall- like weather. Sposed to be 39* in the morning here... you know where I'll be...

Scheduled rest day. We're shutting down tonight at work for clean-up, so I should be able to cut out a little early to partake in a lil hunting action tomorrow morning.

RA -- I'm with you. Have started checking the forecast at every opportunity. Should start getting an idea of where we are in a day or to, I'd imagine.

BBS -- Haven't you reached your limit already? Rest up.

Me -- Heading out for 13. Last run of any real consequences for the cycle.

Morning...

RA - 44 is sure getting there. Hope it doesn't drop too fast. Hope you had a good run.

BBS - Have a good rest and hunting expedition.

Not sure about today. My back eased up by mid-day yesterday and no problems today. Tired though and don't know why. Slept well and no run yesterday. I'm starting to lose my optimism over the med increase. Will try a run anyway.

RA--oh...... the taper crazies!!!

BBS--hunting or running?

chances--careful about wearing out the "refresh" button for weather forcasts!

Dan--hang in there!

Well, yesterday I did a fine job holding down the couch. By the time I was starting to get motivated to go for a ride, it had gotten overcast and windy. Mmmm.... nah, I didn't really need to ride....

Today I had planned to go for a run before church. Well, it was cold and windy, I was still tired, and well, I can run after church. After church I stopped to get gas. Good golly! It is COLD, WINDY and DAMP! Who wants to run in that?! Okay, gotta find my motivation somewhere.....

So, last longish run done. Felt good early but crappy later ending with an 8:10mpm average. Oh well. Some HS xc runners out. The lead guy in one pack was running shirtless. Perhaps it'd hit 50 by then? Actually, I was getting warm in the sun. Conidtions a bit like Boston this past April.

4boysmom - not too crazy. DW will get worse than me - she's already blaming me for hiding/losing her running stuff. However; I always find my missing socks and tops in her drawer.... Now, get your arse off the couch!

Dan - it seems there is a fine line on your meds

BBS - 39F in TN? Are you sure you didn't move?

Chances - The weather forecast will be more accurate the morning of 10/10. I still say 50s.

Hi all.

Nice final longish runs Asics and Chances... hope the weather cooperates for you next week.

Enjoy the weather BBS.

Dan, good luck with the run -- hope you feel better...

Get out there 4BM!

I did my usual 20-miler on the back roads this morning. Perfect weather in the high 40's/ low 50s with a light breeze. Asics, I have to admit that I ditched my shirt around the 12-mile mark when I passed by my house -- I debated whether I should go shirtless or not, but my shirt was already getting pretty sweaty and I decided the extra comfort would outweigh me looking like a tool...

As usual on Sundays, I ran by a bunch of Mennonites in horse and buggies -- wonder what they thought of the shirtless tool

Good afternoon all,

Soccer for me this morning. After going 21+ yesterday I was wondering if this was a good idea or if I'd have anytrhing in the tank. I felt pretty tight in the beginning but eventually found my legs and played a decent game in the midfield, about 45-50 minutes or so. Unfortunately we lost 3-2.

Definitely it's feeling like fall here, too.

Ditto here, RA. Felt decent enough to start, but I actually had to stop at mile 8 and sit on the sidewalk for a few minutes before finishing up. Hope it was just a hydration/nutrition issue.

Nothing for me today. If the weather we have been having lately reaches chicago by next friday, you can expect warm temps. Last day of unusually warm temps and then highs in the upper 60's to low 70's. Nice job on getting out and running for those who have done so.

A little 8 miler at 8:26 pace will have to do for one week out. Easy, but didn't feel as easy as it should have and I'm still feeling something in the hamstring/glute/whatever. Hopefully this will get the crappy running out of my system. For some reason, felt colder to me than the reported 41 degrees. Wearing a long shirt, windbreaker, tights and a headband covering my ears I was still cold, especially standing around talking and stretching (and shivering) afterwards. Maybe it's just that I'm not used to it after all the warm weather.

Nice runs and rest, all, & have a good sunday

Nicely done all! And what friends are you?! Shaming me to get out and run... Well, it worked.

I headed to the metro park. I really do enjoy running here, but haven't had a chance since spring. The hound and I do walk the dog trail frequently, though. I ran the lower paved loop. 50*, 10-15mph winds and drizzle. Uh, yah..... Decent effort. Lap times of 7:15, 7:07, 7:04, 7:03, 7:03, 7:05, 7:05, 6:57. Total 6.64m, 8:32pace. This was supposed to be a recovery run. Guess I hit it a bit hard???
