Swimmerbee - good to see you back here, its been a while!

8.3 mi on the treadmill in 60 min. Was going to go 90 min, but when the machine shut down after 60 I just said what the heck, I'm still in my off-seasons (for another week) and left it at that.

The mighty Nanooks got spanked by the Michigan State Pouties last night, 4-1. That's gonna hurt their ranking, and their CCHA standing. Oh well, Steelers play today.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Good morning. I'm still coughing and blowing my nose constantly so I opted for a spin class rather than a run. I got it done, but it wasn't pretty. Oh well; one more workout in the bank.

Enjoy this pretty day ~

Susan - hope the spin class kicked your cold out of your system.

14.5mile or so run went like this (one of the Q1 runs from Daniels marathon training);

2+mile easy, 2x 1.5mile w/2min recovery at T pace, 5 miles at easy, 2miles at T pace, and 2+mile easy home. This is 3rd quality run this week (Tue: 5mile straight tempo, Thur: 12x200m at R pace) and I was questioning my own plan of throwing cruise interval like this into a long run. After the first 2x1.5mile, I was close to shorten the run and head home. But decided to stick with at least with the distance, heading to the H.S. track to see if I can squeeze 2mile tempo at 7:30. Surprised myself with the solid 2mile. The pace felt so right at 'comfortable hard'. Feeling pretty good how things are coming together, 4wks to the target half marathon.

Good morning, TEAM LIT!

SpartyGirl: Funny you talk about DH being faster and it bothering you. This is all too common. At any given time, I "coach" a collection of people through first races, marathons, and other things. Most of these are friends, me just doing a favor. I have this one couple training for their first marathon together with them doing most of their long runs together. One of the things I warned her about (and she's pretty competitive) is that there will come a time when things will just seem far easier for him. And I told her that although it isn't fair, it's because he has the "male", or at least being it, advantage. You have to get over it. Let him go. Even tell him to go so that you can do your own thing. And to her credit, she's been doing great at it. But I know it burns her because he does half the workouts I give them. And he's still faster.

12.5+ mile trail run on the Stone Cat 50 course. Met a friend to do one loop of the course. I'm pretty beat up, so this run was tiring. Not exactly confidence boosting, but, well, thankfully I don't need confidence on this trail. I know I'm beat up right now (two marathons in two weeks), tired with a sore back (chronic), and will be in much better standing in a few weeks. It will get ugly no doubt. It'll be a 'suck it up' and 'stop complaining' kind of 'get'er done' survival race.

5K for me late this morning. Not so happy with my time (29:29)...sort of blew up during the last 1.1 miles (1-9:37, 2-9:14, 3.1-10:37). But, I haven't done any speedwork since the beginning of July (playing the "better safe than sorry" game) and have only run 4 times since the Pumpkinman Half. I am pretty happy with my HR avg for this effort. 185. That's the start of my HR zone 5. So, it felt just like a 5K should.

Saw AdCo and MoCo and Jake, so that was very cool.

A rainy Sunday rest day for me, compliments of doubling up the rest of the week. Woohoo! Getting ready to make some potato & leek soup (with bacon, of course), then we'll probably take the kids to open swim at the gym.

5K this morning with Cake and AdCo. Ran with the dog - my first running race since pumpkinman '09. first 5K run since the same race. 3rd run of any distance since my aborted return to running last spring.

that's only 91 seconds slower than my all-time PR. it's kind of amazing what losing 40 lbs does for your running.

Ran somewhere between 7-8mi this morning. Took DD1 along for her first ride on "real" roads (outside our development). I was coaching her along the way and we stopped at her friends house to say hi while i added some distance by tooling through the neighborhood.

Mike - HAHAHAHA Go State!

Thor - Yeah, I know. I really do, but it's good motivation for me. Thing is - DH has never set a run goal and made it happen...until now. He's training for his first half mary and he's gone 7 weeks on a training schedule without missing a beat. I am incredibly proud of him. Incredibly proud.

Lots of wandering around with the in-laws today. Core work for my actual workout.

Plus...there was huge bits of gravel on a somewhat steep decline and some tree roots and a dirt track and some sand and some more tree roots there at the end...

I thought you done good!
