Good afternoon, LIT Friends!

5- mile social fun run this morning with a cast of characters including our very own MasterOfSomething. Enjoyed coffee and chatter afterward with the crew at the store from which we run. Only thing that could have been better was that we tossed back a few cold ones. Alas, that will happen during football watching today.

Great weekend!

70 min in the woods, the last 10 min running! The pinky toe was still sore and the rib got worse over might for whatever reasons, but I was tired of exercise bike. The pain was 3-4 out of the scale of 10. I just didn't care how I would feel later; just needed to run. It has been a difficult 6 month - mentally - since DH lost his position. Unknown future may bring more challenges. All good though. It is life.

5 mile organized ride with DS2 who had a blast. Super flat and easy. He's stoked as this is first "tshirt" event. His brother wears his (and my) shirt from the 20miler midnight ride we did in August and I think little brother was jealous.

45min drive there. 5mile ride. 45 min back.

Then 1 hour ride to go pickup DS2 from scout camping trip + another boy, 1 hour back. Took them for pizza on way back, not all bad.

Then a nap. Clearly I'm still sick, although I feel mostly ok. So effectively, DOR. Will get some walking in selling scout popcorn tonight I'm sure so I'm not a total lump.

So... I'm packing in the family points lately, payback for Ironman, it's all good

Yoshiko - I had no idea about DH, I'm so sorry that you guys are having to deal with that! No wonder this particular injury is so tough on you, you need some stress relief!!

A quiet 15min run. I am the queen of falling of the wagon, a mere month ago I was in training and up to 14 miles...not so much today. Trail series isn't happening (1st 2 races are complete)...just going to run/workout for fun until Christmas. My gift to myself will be patience with myself, mentally and physically!

Second race of the weekend this morning. It was the first of a 4 race series of XC type races. Each one gets progressively longer. This one featured some sections on a wide trail, some singletrack, some almost vertical short hills, and a run up the middle of a creek for over a half mile. Lots of the area fasties come out for these races. I got off to a decent start, but could feel a bit of fatigue from yesterday's race in the first mile. Pushed through it and started passing a good number of people in the second mile. The third mile started in the creek and I managed to hold my place and even pass a few people. Coming out of the water I noticed oneof my shoelaces had somehow come undone even though I had double tied them. Had to get off to the side and tie it. That let about 10-15 people pass me that I had just worked so hard to pass. I managed to get back in and pass a couple of them when we hit the singletrack and the nearly vertical hills. Had a great kick to outsprint another in the last hundred yards. I ended up 3rd AG for the race. Individual race standings don't count though - only the series standings at the end. Our team did well and we thought we were in first, but another team had organized just prior to the race consisting of a few elite runners. We were second and our oly chance to beat them is if they don't have a team to qualify in every race. Fun day and great weather.

Next weekends races is the Xterra Half Marathon. That should be fun too.

Warm/upper 70s - Sunny and calm. Fall Series #1 race. Course is on trails in Monument Valley Park and up Monument Creek. Ran well, but had to stop to tie a shoelace after emerging from the creek and lost at least 20 seconds. Finshed 3rd AG, but without the shoelace incident may have been able to take 2nd.

Yoshi - sorry to hear you guys have had a rough 6 months.
Don - nice racing...again!
Thor - I'm on the hunt for pumpkin beer!!!! (nice run today too!)

Did 12.5 hilly miles today. Would have loved to be on trail, but settled for a little bit on the dirt road behind our neighborhood and mostly road. It got hot early today...left at 8:15 and that was too late. And after sitting in the sun through a football game yesterday, I felt pretty drained after. But, the run was solid - feeling much stronger on those longer hills. I've been doing hill intervals on the treadmill and the P90X plyo workout every week and I think it's helping.
