Hey guys/gals,

Finally checking in again. Zrun's time for me sounds right but the official results won't go up until 8pm. I had 3:30:54 on my watch and I stopped it a few seconds after I finished.

So what happened? Well, in a nutshell I just didn't have my A game today. It just goes that way in marathons sometimes. I started exactly the way I wanted to and that half split had me perfectly positioned to execute my plan, which was to drop the hammer at about 16. But when the time to step it up came, it just wasn't there and my splits soon started going in the wrong direction. I never really hit the wall, it was more like a slow bleed. After about 20 it became all about "preserving the BQ." Despite how close it was at the end, I pretty much knew I had it at around 24. Considering how hard I had to really fight for this without my best stuff, I'm pretty happy with the result.

NYC is an absolutely awesome event. Crowds are into it the whole way just like in Boston. The weather today was definitely a challenge, though. Very chilly and windy at the start; those first miles on the Verrazano were bone chilling. The wind would also sneak up on you whenever you came to a cross street. And the bridges were definitely challenging. The Queensboro, the one that worried me for months, turned out to be my undoing - it was also where Gebresailasse dropped out so I guess I've got that on him.

So that's the short version of my story. I'll do a full report soon. What's up next? Not much for awhile.

Jill - way to kick ass on that 10. Scary to think what you will do at Philly.
