Trail race this morning. Went into it with no expectations. 1--I don't do trails 2--it was hilly! They sent the 10K off first. I realized I was way too far forward but didn't have time to move back before the gun went off. Turns out I was exactly where I should have been. Virtually no passing the entire race. I did yo-yo with one guy for a bit. Had the most spectacular wipeout around m3. Not sure what happened. Running along the meadow path and this root jumped out and grabbed my foot. The last half mile was brutal. I swear they should have had ropes to pull us up. Way too steep to even attempt to run. Get to the top and the finish was just 'round the corner. I had gotten passed just before the final hill and had nothing left to chase her. Whatever. I figured I was too far back to worry about awards. THey only gave awards for the top 5. So I crossed the finish line and was handed HARDWARE! 5th, but I'll take it!

RA -- Have fun on the run and at the game.

Mom -- *Bling!* Great job!

Me -- Smarting from the TCU-BSU game yesterday. I was there. Fantastic contest, but the loss cuts deep. Gotta say, TCU's fans are a classy bunch -- they won with dignity, and thanked us for being good hosts.

Chances - hopefully the run heals your wounds.

4boysmom - more hardware for that trophy cabinet!

So, I chose a day that is 65F with 35 mph winds to go running. Well, to the gym and back at least. Felt "spritely" for the first 3 miles (with the wind) but strangely tough coming back... Anyway, a total of 7 miles.

Good afternoon campers...easy day for me today. Just a recovery 3 on the neighborhood 5k race course loop. 9 minute mile pace in my FiveFingers, then 20 minutes of core. The final throes of taper time are underway.

4BM - congrats on the trail result! But really you've got to keep your eyes down a little and watch out for those trail "elements." Part of learning to run trails, trust me. Still that's a great debut.

Chances - I am no fan of college football...frankly I think it's completely corrupt and lacking accountability...but I like to see Boise St. upset the apple cart because they aren't part of the "club." Then again, neither is TCU. Anything that sheds negative light on the sham called the BCS is OK with me. Hope the run went well.

RA - nice run but respect that need for recovery. Just sayin'.

Dan - you are rumblin' down that comeback trail now!
