Final race of the Fall Series today. I had a few goals. One, maintain my series position in my AG. Two, get through the course without falling. Three, finish the race so our team qualifies for an award. Met all the goals!

It helped that the guy in front of me in my AG was too far ahead to even try to catch, and the guy behind was far enough that all I really needed to do was keep in front of him. The team was in second and too far behind to try hard, and third was so far behind I could have almost walked. So that meant all I needed to do was run a fairly easy pace which would hopefully allow me to keep upright. No pressure to run fast.

The course itself is very difficult and challenging. The footing requires constant focus with all the rocks, roots, sand, gullies, holes, etc. Three major climbs that are very steep, and three very steep descents. In between is a constant series of ups and downs, twisting and turning, etc. Weather was good this year.

This was the first time I've done this race without falling. The course is never exactly the same and this year was longer than other years. This was also the first time I've won a series AG award. The woman on the team finished second overall female, and another guy won his AG.

It's nice this is over and I can get back to training for more normal races.

Warm/mid 50s - Cloudy and windy. PPRR Fall Series #4 in Palmer Park. Lots of hills, rocks, roots, poor footing, steep climbs/descents. Tough course. Goal was to maintain my series position and not fall. Made it. First time I've done this race without falling. Ran just fast enough to keep the guys behind me in the series standings from catching me. No chance to catch the guys ahead. Wore the rib belt. Could have run faster, but there was no need to risk it.
