Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers! We appreciate all of you.

Hit the singletrack which DH and I went a few days ago (and I fell twice). This time, no falls :) Plus I hit all the 'features' such as "Crater" (holly smoke, it was scary deep/shart donwhill/up) and "Rock Garden", etc. I Love It! I don't think I can get back to the road riding any more. I just love riding in the woods, no car noises, potholes and lights to deal with. No time to look at watch or anything other than keeping eyes on the trail ahead. 10miles. took me about 1:08. Tried not to push too much. I have been riding too hard, I think. Followed by 20min run on another trail there. What a gem I found, only 10min drive away from home. This run went much better. Felt great.

Now heading to a metropark for hiking and some pedal?boating with the family under the beautiful sun,

Enjoy your day Mom!

Good afternoon, TEAM LIT!

Yoshi: Nice to see you getting in some trails!

All: Thanks for the good words yesterday on my win!

Me...

8.5 to 9 mile hill run early this morning:

o WU - 13 min

o 4 x Blue Hills Auto Road (8:28, 8:08, 8:17, 8:26)

*Repeat = jog up + jog back down

**Normally the repeat is a "charge up" but after yesterday's race, I was really tired and beat up in the body with the hammy. So I just kept the pace light, though I didn't have much choice due to hammy and general soreness. Hill Immersion is almost over. This is all by training design.

Great day, People!

Nice trail ride Yoshi!!

Great job on the hills Thor - take care of the hammy!

Planned DOR today, but the pooch kept giving me alternating sad eye/stink eye, so took her out on her 2.25 loop. Didn't bother with the watch or anything...just let it be Bailey day. :)

Chillin' with the little otters now and looking forward to a triathlon of swimming, BBQ, and blueberry cobbler at my sister's house later with the rest of the family.

Happy Mother's Day LIT Mommies!

Nice job on the race yesterday Thor!

Headed out for my annual ride but stayed in the valley as opposed to heading for the hills due to my lack of saddle time. Like a bad joke, it hailed. *sigh* Got 18.5 miles in though.

Hobey - any day you can be out on the roads is a good day!

Spent all morning and early afternoon fixing a couple sections of fencing. Had to dig up two broken posts. I think I pulled a muscle in my ribs while lifting the second huge hunk of concrete out of the post hole. It was really hard to take a deep breath when I did my run afterward.

I'm having the RD check the results of one of the guys who finished ahead of me. There was a 5K being held in conjunction with the 5 miler and this guy's racing history suggests he would not likely have been able to post the kind of time he was credited with. If he somehow did run over 1:30 per mile faster than his other recent race results - good on him. I'd like to know his secret.

First tri of 2011 is done. A sprint with 0.25mi swim, 10mi bike, 3.1mi run...though I'm pretty sure the swim was much closer to 1/3 mi than 1/4 mi given my perceived level of exertion, my time, and reports from other participants. Managed 16.6 mph on the bike, a course PR...though a short bike, it does have its share of short climbs that cannot be ignored. Gutted out 9:17/mi on the run...which explains why I was doubting that triathlon is fun. It was my second longest run since Boston (the longest being a slower 4 mi), my 7th fastest 5K compared to "stand alone" 5Ks, and a sprint tri 5K PR. Really lucked out with weather this year! Mild temps, very little wind, smooth water, partly sunny. Water temps were maybe 58°F? Not cold enough to keep my face or feet numb the entire time.

One race day regret/confession:
A woman ahead of me had a fall on her bike that looked a bit nasty. The only other woman in sight ahead of me stopped to look after her (she was right next to the other woman when she fell). I was not in a position to go anywhere but between the two and did let the stopped rider know I was on her left. The "helper's" bike was on the side of the road to the right and the fallen rider's bike was in the middle of the road; traffic was not excluded from the course and I didn't feel safe crossing the double yellow to get to the left side of the road. I kept going ahead and informed the next volunteer I saw. By the time I found the next volunteer, I realized it would have been quicker to turn around and find the last volunteers I'd seen. I just didn't see how also stopping would be helpful and all I thought was, "Keep going forward! Find the next volunteers!" I've been feeling a guilty about this and fear I've gotten on triathlon karma's bad side with the choice I made this morning. We did hear later that the fallen rider was attended to and had separated her shoulder.

Happy M-day! For thee that bore us, I SALUTE THEE!

Up crack o freakin dawn (4:30) to prep Mday offerings to the goddess. Off to the club by 6, for a 5.3m @ 1hr run (excluding the trip to the bushes for a sit down... wow, haven't had to do THAT in ages) - and then 7:15 I met up with a triclub peep. We did 2 hours on the bike together, then I continued for a 3rd. Sheit tired. So much so I flopped in the grass and listened to the wind for about 5min before I got up and drove home.

shower, quick food, 30min nap to be awoken by the natives attacking with pillows, then drive 2 hrs to meet Mother-in-law + clan for a nice MDay meal. 3 hour drive back sucked azz. Traffic, ick. Prep a speech for tommorow.. or just an outline, I'll wing the rest. Clean the office (cleaning lady coming, do not get me started why >I< have to clean for HER... grrr I didn't argue though), and then back out for 5.2m @ 1hr run and another potty stop! WTF?! That run hurt. Damn I'm tired. Another shower... some more food...

Oh and I need to tear apart my bike and figure out if I can do the hard case or not so I can figure if the bike is coming with me on the plane next week or not.

Good golly I'm tired.

You should not regret it, you didn't run her over (I've been run over and admit i've run over others in bike races when they went down in the front of the pack) and you did the best you could to get her help. Nothing bad happened because you didn't stop or go back and you couldn't know which way was faster plus you'd be swimming upstream if you went back. You got help the best way you knew how that's positive karma. Good job on the race!
