Good morning runners

Dave- nice goin with the race yesterday!

Hawk/Mom- Good luck today!!

Well, theres no turning back now... race of death starts in less than 2 hrs. I did this race last year with a friend, I was recovering from ITBS and he didn't train for it, so we ran/walked it in 2:16. A PR shouldn't be a problem today, but I was really hoping to bust a sub 1:30, really don't think thats going to happen today with this heat. This is not an 'A' race, so I'm not really stressing it. I'm just gonna keep my mind on the free beer the have at the end. They got cool finishers medals here too.

If I don't post back... I may have melted to the road.

Morning BBS, good luck and stay cool out there if you can.

I'm on the shuttle to the start right now. Cool this morning, 64 with occasional drizzling. So pretty good conditioins as long as the predicted t-storms stay away until later.

No particular goal time for today. It's a trail half so PRs are kind out the window. I'm thinking somewhere around 2 hours today would be pretty good.

Good luck Dave.

Have great runs, rides, swims, walks, rests and whatever else everyone.

Good job I skipped that 5k... my legs were dead this morning and I slogged out 13.2 miles after oversleeping. Felt a lot hotter than 75F. Blah!

RA- Since Rob has left us on the curb, I'll step up.... .2?!!!!

Race done.... whew. Although I didn't run anything spectacular, I am happy with the results. 11.5 miles in 1:29:22. I was able to snag 3rd place in my AG. Got a bronze coin, too bad it says Female 25-29. Oh well. I started out very conservative, (Took you advice RA!) and tried to keep it around 7:45 pace, and if I had anything left after the split pick it up then. This actually worked out pretty well, even though I didn't have 'much left' in the 2nd 1/2, I'm super glad I didn't blow my wad in the begining, cause my legs were wanting to run sub 7 at first. splits were: 7:45, 7:45, 7:52, 7:44, 7:41, 7:46, 7:32, 7:45, 7:54, 7:47, 7:47, 7:17. Had a good time, Actually got to talk to my AG nemesis and found out he just turned 30 ,, drank a lot of free beer, and my buddy PRed as well. Great race considering the heat and humidity!

Way to kick butt, BBS!

I did pretty well too. I insisted beforehand I had no "goal" for this race other than getting it done but in the back of my mind I really wanted to beat 2 hours and that looked pretty tough after running the course 2 weeks ago. But I brought it on race day and went 1:48:48. 31st overall and I thiink 6th in AG. I struggled for much of the middle but gathered my strength in Mile 11 and in the last mile I blew away most of the competitors I had been battling and had fallen behind earlier. I'm pretty sure I picked up 6-7 places. I think they were surprised by that. ;)

RA - nice HM+ run there.

Sounds like a good day of racing! Went into today with no goals other than to get back into racing and have fun. Swim did not go well at all and had a lot of ground to make up. Bike went okay and was able to pass a few, then there were no bunnies to chase. Coming back into transition I realized that I wasn't that far behind. Headed out on the run feeling pretty good. Strangest thing happened--I was catching and passing! Felt I had a decent race, considering it I was counting this as my throw away for this series. And I walked away with... an AG win. Go figure!

Little running for me this week until I figure out why everything's been so sucky. Trying some weights, biking and vitamins. Stay tuned.

BBS - Great pacing! Congratulations on the hardware! So, did you wear a dress when you collected that award? Also, from now on, I'll post a rounded report of miles... so, today 13 miles.

4boysmom - she shoots, she scores! Congratulations on the AG win! Little did your competition know about your secret training weapon - power gardening.

Hawk - great racing! I think you sandbagged on the time "goal".

Chances - I was given a Groupon for a CrossFit boot camp. I'm hoping to kick that off soon with the hope that it's the trick I need to get out of this slump.

Dave - enjoy the rest of your... err... rest day.

Some fabulous racing today. A little rain brought the temperature down, so I dashed outside. I started hearing thunder, though, so turned around at 1.5 miles. 3 miles total for today.

Hey all of you superstars, way to go on the racing!! A lot of blowing away of the competition down the stretch going on, great job.

Back from some fun and sun in Indy, and ready to get my butt out for a later afternoon/early evening long run. I mapped out the route and it actually should be just around 13.2 :) Things with the hamstring have not been too bad, but had a Dr's appointment Friday and a prolotherapy injection, we shall see if that does anything. I have been mulling over whether to start marathon training for Milwaukee, which is 17 weeks out today, and will probably make some kind of schedule over the next week.
