I get to start 2 days in a row? You guys are slippin..

Usual Sunday rest for me. Gotta clean out the garage for DW, and get in bed before all those cackling women get here for that shower. I still don't understand why everything has to be at OUR house...showers, thanksgiving, christmas, etc..

Another plus from my flunked 5K yesterday was that after the 1st 1/4 scramble, no one passed me, but I passed a few people on my way. It always makes me feel a lil better when I don't get passed at a 5K.

BBS-Up here we call it sleeping. ;) Rest up.

Slept in, so I'll have to run after church. I don't think I'll do a long run today after yesterday's, but I still want to try and hit between 60 and 70mins. Have a great day folks.

Mornin'g Alex and BBS. Enjoy the rest, BBS. And the run after church, Alex. I am playing hooky today.

I did a long run this morning that our running group puts on. But three of us started 30 mins early to try and beat some of the heat. By the time we fished, it was 86* ("feels like" 95), and 70% humidity. Of course there were some walk breaks involved.

Have a great one everybody!

Good morning!

I took yesterday off from running and biking. Achilles and foot was feeling so much better but it was so stinking hot and I spent the entire morning working at the Kids Race anyway. I was race director this time and had to use the microphone/loud speaker to start the races off - I am so uncomfortable with being in front of crowds but I made it through no problem. (We use to get the guys to do that stuff (either Bart Yasso, Budd Coates or our pres, Neal Novak) but we decided committee members should do the announcing since the guys spent too much time eyeballing all the soccer moms - LOL. )

Anyway, the day off and all my RICE-ing/stretching/anti-inflammatories worked because I am now running pain free - finished up with 14 miles this morning. I'll still be vigilant with the icing this week as a precautionary but I'm hoping that is all behind me now.

Have a good day and stay cool!

Jill - LOL , glad to hear the proactive stuff is working

It is hot hot hot. Left the pup home and put in 5 hot hot sweaty miles. Felt good to finish and know that I didn't give in to stay home.

Good luck with the shower BBS :)

Morning folks,

Great news on the foot, Jill, and nice long run for early in marathon training! You too, Jebba, we are lucky to have a little cooler weather here. Actually you can just about reverse the heat and humidity for us about 67-70 degrees and 85-90% humidity.

Got my first 20 miler of 2010 in early this morning with the group. They're mostly faster than me so their easy pace had me lagging a bit around mile 15 but I finished okay if not strong. Felt good to not have any walking breaks unlike the last few hotter long runs.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

BBS -- Rest up.

Alex -- Have a great run later, superstar.

jebba -- Yucko. Way to stick it out.

Jill -- So glad to hear the ankle's improved and holding steady. Stay on it! And cool you're the race director -- had no idea you were so important. :)

Apple -- Good fiver.

Kevin -- Rest well.

zrun -- Something satisfying about a 20, no? Great job.

Me -- Runs have improved a great deal the last few days. Appears a sinus infection has been what's slowing me, and my course of antibiotics is doing its job. Very warm here today -- over 100 -- so my 20-miler will wait until sundown. Should finish around midnight. :)

Morning...

Rob - Glad the infection is on the mend. Those antibiotics will definitely get ya.

zrun - Great job on the 20.

Kevin - Enjoy your Sunday

Apple - Good job getting out there in the heat.

Jill - Glad to hear that achillies is no longer your achilles.

Jebba - Ouch on those temps. I was complaining about 65 this morning.

Alex - Church and run, a good day all in all

BBS - I'm surprised the ladies didn't get after ya regarding the cackling comment. Sorry about the shower etc. Maybe you need to initiate a poker game or something to even things out.

It was warm for me this morning though nothing like you guys. Went up to R8 W2 which stretched me a little and brought more hill into play. I'm glad I'm able to get out there but it's also apparent that I still have to take it slow. Two more weeks before another blood draw.

Nice running and directing all!

So, birthday party Saturday night = no long run Sunday morning. I'm a total slacker... Now DD is sleeping and DW is entertaining friends in from out of town = no run this afternoon. Oh well. Training on hold until tomorrow am. Wait... Cubs game tonight. Will be tired in the morning...

Hello all, afternoon fly-by here.

I got 11.5 of the planned 14 in yesterday, had to cut it short due to time constraints. I did it all on the TM to avoid the heat & humidity. 1 out of 2 achieved as it was still crazy humid in the house. I guess all that air being cooled by the AC had to come from somewhere. I was drenched by the time I was done. Did the first 5 at slow progressive pace (10:00/mile up to 7:24/mile). Right now 7:24 passes for MP as I'm not in top marathon shape. So then I did 3 mile repeats at that pace, alternating with some easy miles at easy resting pace (9:40 or so). Finally wrapped up with some 200m strides. Not quite what I wanted but not too bad either. I clearly have some work to do to get back in marathon shape.

Soccer this morning, outside in the searing heat. Not so good. We were short of players and got hammered. I played like crap. Enough said about that. Best to just chuck any memory of it in the trash. Besides I have the Santana concert tonight to get ready for. Looking forward to that.

Had to cut my swim short this morning due to overheating. I stopped at 1000m to try to cool down, but since the room was even hotter than the 87* pool, that didn't help. Slogged out another 1000m and called it a day!

After church I headed out for a spin. Pretty windy and the first leg was alt between rain and full sun. Uh, yah, stoopid humid!!! But, I rode through several of my favorite little towns, so it was quite the enjoyable little spin. 44mi
