Morning runners

Dave- nice job yesterday! So what would be a goal HM time if you were to train specifically for one?

Rest/1 TM mile day for the streak. May try to squeeze in some core too.

Morning BBS. Nice job on the streaking. ;)

Reporting from the oval. I ran the master's mile a little while ago. VERY disappointing time of 5:50. Clearly I am out of speed shape. Or I am just getting old. I like first reason better. With that in mind, time to get the flats back on for the 800. More speed work...

ETA - 2:42 in the 800. That's a little better. Up next the 5000...I'll probably be taking that a little slower, like at HM pace. Breaking 20 minutes would be a surprise.

BBS -- Any YouTube video of you streaking? Rest/streak well.

Hawk -- You're plenty fast, even "out of shape." That's a nice 800. Rock that 5k.

Me -- 27 degrees, and I'm too chicken to take Madeline outside, so it's a long Netflix-aided trainer ride for me today.

20:51 in the 5k. Didn't try to race it, just worked on keeping it at a HM tempo pace. I'd say I met that objective. Now time for a quick cool down outside then it's home for some football watching.

Hawk - yeah, your mile time does not jive with the 800. Go out to fast? I like to negative split mile time trials.

BBS - the streak is alive. Don't squeeze too hard.

Chances - wuss! I'd totally go out out with my bike in that weather. Ok, the would be on the back of the car but totally I'd be out there. As for Netflix, these days that only seems good for children's shows. We had a trail of Hulu Plus and I find that has more streaming content that I'd actually watch.

Anyway, waiting on DW's return from her girls night of drinking and gossip before heading out. May have to dial it back to 10 as some babysitting requests have arrived from SIL are denting my time allotment.

Funny...I think I did negative split...in the 800 that is. In the mile I settled in behind the leader for 800, felt fine, then started laboring and just kind of fell off the back of the lead pack. The winner ran 5:32 which I should easily do. Not sure what the hell happened...I may have not warmed up enough (got there a few minutes beforehand and did a quick 800 warmup jog). Then in the 800 I started really slow; it was a super-crowded "all ages" male heat, and after the first lap I was stuck behind the 10-12 year old boys, then I pulled out to lane 2, hammered the next 3 laps and finished at a sprint.

Next meet is in 2 weeks. 5k race in Florida next weekend. So I'll shock my body back into fast running one way or the other.

Good day folks.

Some impressive workouts reported.

BBS - My goal is to run a 1:30 HM this year. I have only started base training; about 3 weeks into it. My PR is 1:32:xx, slightly faster than a 7:00 pace. I can beat my PR if I stay injury free.

Hawk - Some nice time there; I am in the same boat. I am sure my slowness is due to being out of shape and nothing to do with my age.

Me - 1 mile run this morning; rest day. Day 8 of my running streak. It was tough this morning after the HM yesterday and lifting last night.

Happy training everyone!

Early morning in the fishbowl for me. 2000m. My getting back to basics seems to be working as I'm seeing my times improve. Followed by church, still sporting goggle marks, but they're used to that. HOme long enough for a quick lunch then son1 and I headed out for a nice spin. Out with a headwind, turned around and the wind died. I totally bonked on the way back and scored a positive split. Oh well. It was quite enjoyable to ride in January and not be dressed like the Micheline man. 33.66m. Quick shower then drove son3's friend home--he's been here since Friday afternoon. And now it's time to head to church. Tired yet? I AM!!!

Dave - I think you are sandbagging... based on some of the workouts you post, a sub 1:30 HM should be a walk in the park. Well a run on the road to be more precise, unless you are one of those crazy hipster race walkers.

4boysmom - even been to church with your goggles still on?

I got out for 13. More cyclists than runners... what's up with that? Anyway, was all fine and dandy for 11 miles @ ~7:45 mpm pace then my right side abductor started to complain, a lot. Jogged it in. I have a bad feeling about the HM I'm scheduled to do next Sunday in Phoenix.

I think I have the speed, it is just a matter of not getting injured training for it. When I ramp up my distance and speed, the knee starts to go out on me. Based on my 5K/10k times both mcmillian and daniel calculator put me right at a 1:30 +/- a few seconds.
