Good Sunday my friends. How magical and peaceful is the world this early in the morning. I hope those who chat last night had a lot of laughter and fun.

I am already back from a Magical Snowy 4 miles run and it is only 4:22 around here. I must be too excited about my trip that I could not go to sleep. Instead of just laying in bed, I decided to get up, put my running shoes on and go out for a short run. The world around me was so peaceful and quiet.

Enjoy your RESTs, your runs, your swimming, your walks and your lives my friends.
I will be airport hoping for the next three days so my next posting most likely will be from South America. Unless I can fit in some running in the different airports this could very well be my last run in North American soil for one month.

Adios amigos. Hasta la vista muchachos!!. Butterfly hugs to each one of you. Thanks you all for being such a bright presence in my life.

Good morning Mariposai and a safe trip to you.

I got up early this morning to run with my hubby. 11 miles in windy, 25 degrees. The cold felt soooo good today. I must have been dressed right. I love running with my DH, not only for the company, but also for the workout. He blows through intersections. I am much more cautious so get stuck waiting for traffic. ( yes, even on Sunday at 6:30! Where is everyone going? ) Then I have to burst ahead to catch up to him. So my run included some great fartleks too!

Now we are getting the kids moving, so we can go see the "Bodies Revealed" exhibit. I hear it's fascinating and can't wait to go.

Happy Sunday to everyone!

Good morning Kicksters!
Mariposai is flying to South America with the butterflies! Have a safe trip.
Tramps.. you are running very well now.. what's the secret?

Tory and I caught a quick run as the temperatures start to plummit. The temp dropped from 29F to 26F during the run and I could start to feel slippage on pushoff on some roads. Other roads were dry so no slippage. 6 mi GA in 49:46 (8:17 pace AHR 160.. target 160!). Tory kept pace nicely today. All the lawns are white with SNOW! Haven't seen that here for a couple years. (excited Rosie?)

Have great runs and keep warm!

I ran 14.73 miles this morning in 2:10:37 (8:51 min/mile pace). The run out to Lexington was a struggle, and I was feeling discouraged trying to maintain a 9:10-9:15 pace. But when I turned around to run home, I realized why...not only is the run out there a gradual uphill climb, but the cold wind had been in my face the whole way! When I turned around, the air suddenly became calm, and with the wind at my back, I became much more fleet footed. I sailed on home, feeling terrific!

The temp was 26 degrees, so I didn't join the "More Miles Than Degrees" club, either. Unless you count windchill, where the temp felt like 14 degrees, according to the weather report. I'll take what I can get!

The Minuteman Bike Path is so lovely! The city of Arlington has experimented this year with plowing the path, to see how it was used in the winter time. What a joy to run there, instead of battling snowbanks and crazy drivers on the open roads. I am going to write a letter to their City Council in support of this. Not that they care much to hear from someone who is not a direct constituent, but it can't hurt...

Robin

Good Morning All.

Mari - have a safe and wonderful trip!

KS - I didn't mean you didn't run Disney hard enough - I meant it as a compliment! With all your training and double runs, etc.

Rosie - The hernia is healing well. I hit my six week point this Friday and all restrictions will be magically gone! I've been trying to slowly ease back and add a little running with my walking last week and this week - the nurse said I could. Thanks for asking!

3 miles on the TM this morning - alternating walking with some running - 2 miles running, 1 mile walking.

Have a great day everyone!

ETA - those are beautiful pictures JJJ! What a beautiful trail!

Good morning. My streak of good runs has hit a bump in the road. I did walk/run total of 3.25 miles running and 1.25 miles walking. Plus lots of good deep stretching afterwards. But the running was tough -- the gym was overheated and I just felt really draggy. Oh well, they can't all be great, right? Tomorrow will be elliptical or rowing or something like that instead, then I'm planning to run again on Tuesday.

Have a great day. DH and I might go to the movies this afternoon after we tidy up the house, which looks pretty bad right now.

Have a nice trip, Mari!

What a beautiful morning for a run. The air is never so clear as when the mercury's hovering around the zero mark with a cloudless sky and the sun rising. So I did my more-miles-than-degrees run by going 6 miles around Stoney Creek Lake at 1 degree Fahrenheit (wind chill -10, but I didn't notice it much). Looking across the frozen lake at the sunrise was a true winter scene, and I was actually plenty warm with the layers that I had on. I did finish with frost covering my balaclava and icicles on my eyelashes.

Good running to everyone today!

JJJ, your workout yesterday was incredible. Nice pictures, too.
Rose, I'd looooove to run with you in May! On the towpath, perhaps?
Jura, have a great run today!
I'm pining for a more miles than degrees run but when I walked around the yard to feed the birds this morning my calf suggested waiting until tomorrow. So I did 40 minutes on the elliptical; theraband stretches. Will throw in some pushups later.
tomwhite, the Pack should be fine. They've been practicing with frozen balls.

Its snowing here too!! DD woke me up so excited

Tammy & John - How is it on your side of the valley - do you have snow too?

Ok so I'm an idiot once again, yesterday was not a "do what you can" run. I should've walked instead of run... it took a toll & wasn't feeling too good last night. I just wanna be normal like everyone else so badly! Ahh, but it seems not meant to be.

So, new strategy - get those workouts in even if its just walking.. will report how it went later today. But, I have to get on that treadmill today & do something - I'm almost to double digits.. its been awhile.

JJJ Loved your piccies, you look cool on the horse.
Jura Hope you enjoyed your run with your new club.

As for me, 3.4 miles of easy stuff on the road in the dark this morning. Wind and rain as per usual for this week but I didn't care, it still felt good.

Took an early yoga class this morning, one that I had not planned on taking because I had a client scheduled for that time slot... but she has decided to move on to greener pastures. You win some, you lose some, right? The last time I had taken class with this particular teacher, it hadn't been a very enjoyable experience. For some reason, maybe even knowing that going in, put me in the mindset to get what I can out of it, and that was the ticket, because class was great. Definitely the "win some" end of that deal.

Then come home, train the second client, and rush out for the last five minutes of the blood drive across town. I'm thinking "all wins today, baby, yeah!", because I barely get there in time, but I'm in. Errrrrr! Sorry, back to the losing game again: my vein swells, they toss me out without any donation on my part, have a donut and an ice pack, see you in two months. My daughter says, when I get home and tell her this, that at least my intention was good, and that's all that matters. Win some, lose some.... so why don't I feel like I at least broke even?

Oh, and the donuts weren't even chocolate. grr

Needless to say, I'm RESTING today!

Good runs to all!

Robin - sounds like you had a nice long run today - with the second half being more enjoyable than the first half. Nice running!

Mari - Safe and joyous travels dear friend! I will miss you very much.

Jura - how was the run with the new group? I hope there was fun comraderie.

Linda - no snow here. In fact, I woke up to sunshine. It's cold, but not frozen like it has been. It even looks almost warm enough for an outdoor run today, but I'm RESTing and will get in another long run tomorrow.

JJJ - I enjoyed the pics you posted in yesterday's daily. Very very beautiful part of the country you live in . . . reminds me of . . . uh, OREGON! That's it!

I was reviewing my husband's race schedule (drag racing) for this summer. He has quite a few week long trips - about one a month starting in March. And he "thinks" one of those trips is up in Seattle, during Seafair week. The dates are still up in the air, but if he's up there during Seafair week, then I think we'll have to make a little family vacation out of it. There might be a race I'm interested in during that week also. . . .

I had a great run with my new group today! We only went for 3 miles as a first run. The roads were icy and slippery, so we really had to watch our footing, which made us extra slow, but it was OK since we're all kinda gimpy. One lady was in recovery from a race. Our leader, an ironman competitor, is recovering from a hip injury, and another lady, who is also in my master's swim group, also an ironman triathlete, is recovering from ITBS. So I am in good company. We did 3:1 run/walk and it felt great! A little tight on the back after, but I massaged it out when I got home.
Ow, OM, too bad about the blood donation. Have this happened before or is this a first?
Thanks, FF and Elaine
Good choice tomwhite for staying indoors today. Brrr....
Gin, I am like you, I don't trust drivers, so I make sure I am safe before I cross. I had my fair share of close call when I was younger and I think I used up my 9 lives... Kudos for keeping it safe!
Woke up late this morning, debating if I should go outside or try a swim later at the local pool. I've gotten myself a new suit, cap and goggles at Christmas, but haven't christened them in an actual pool yet.

The run won and I'm glad. Intended to do only 4, but was feeling fine, so stretched it out to about 5 hilly miles. Can relate to Jura's run for the icy bits... the first and last mile were downright treacherous. Probably kept me from going out to fast. Too cold to walk to warm up -11C, -22C with windchill.

Our power was out for 4 hrs last night. Seems our community now has a Darwin Awards nominee.... apparently someone was trying to steal copper from the Hydro substation up the street, climbed on top of a transformer and fried himself. Sad for his family, but not the brightest move to make. At least I now know that it is possble to cook green beans on a barbeque.
