Good Morning runners

Hawk- Good luck today

I got online last night to look up my overall results, and they said they had a problem w/ the times yesterday, and I actually finished in 20:59 1/28 in AG, 12/533 OA. Funny how 2 seconds can make you feel that much better. My best 5K time last year was 20:57, so this makes me excited for this year!

Rest day today. Shins and calves a little sore, but hopefully after a shake out run tomorrow, I can get back on track. Got a 3 mile race in a couple weeks, then what I'm hoping to be my PR race 5K in the end of April.

Run hard out there today! (balls out)

Goodluck to today's racers!

I am super sore from yesterday's race. Will do a recovery run after church. They are calling for thunderstorms, so it may be a treadmill day.

We also have a p90x workout scheduled - shoulders and arms, and abs.

Jebba- Sounds like a lot of work after what you did yesterday

I ended up doing a 2 mile shake out. I think thats the 1st time I've ever ran the day after a race.

jebba--yah wonder why you are sore? That 5/10 combo is nuts!

David--rest up. Sounds like you are coming home soon?

fuller--enjoy the rest.

Decent little dip in the fishbowl for me. 2000m steady swim. Haven't done one of those in a while so wasn't sure what to expect. 12:27/500. Not great, but I'll take it. I put up signs for MBH and a friend of mine racing Last Chance. Didn't see either, but then again, I don't know what MBH looks like... Home long enough to drop off son1 and pick up hubby, and then off to church. Quick bite for lunch, then son1 and I will head out for a spin. 18mile loop, with the option of adding another 18 or a shorter loop. And I still have church this evening.

Just wanted to thank 4BM for being awesome. I was standing around before the start, and glanced at a sign that I thought said something like "go to the mailbox ahead", which I thought was just directions or something, so I ignored it. Then a bit later on, I realized that it said "Go Mailbox Head" And my first thought was "there's really somebody else out there that goes by Mailbox Head? A bit later, I realized that 4BM had signed it at the bottom and that it was for me. Gave me a nice little boost every time I ran past it- especially since I had told my family they didn't need to come watch me- so the sign was my cheering section.

I tried to see if I could find you out on the course 4BM- were you sitting a little after the finish line with a sign counting down the laps for a friend? I thought the woman there looked like you, but I wasn't sure, and thought it wouldn't go over well if I asked a random woman if she was mom.

I ended up in 3:35ish, which was not bad for a nice easy training run. Posted a nice 5 minute negative split first half to last, and hardly made any kind of a conscious effort to pick up the pace.

Thanks again for the support- it was great.

Hey everyone,

Just a quickie to report summary race results. 68:45 officially today. Not where I had hoped to be but not too bad either, especially on a very tough hilly course. I can't believe I once PRed in this race! Strong first 5 miles in 33:16 but the hills in the second half really got to me and I positive splitted by over 2 minutes. But if the goal was to get a benchmark and figure out what I need to work on in March, I certainly got that. More long runs are in store and it's time to re-introduce sprint work in the form of short intervals and fartleks. So mission accomplished.

Nice races and running folks. Nothing quite so dramatic for me today. Did a 3 mile run at Tucker High School about 2:00 this afternoon to loosen up some leg muscle. Temps are in the 70's here in Atlanta with slight winds so it was nice after all the cold weather we had this winter.

Nice job racers! I took and unscheduled rest day yesterday then drank way too much in the evening with friends and just got back from my delayed long run. 16 miles on the indoor track. A new record... 128 laps. Could have gone longer but called it a day.

MBH--glad you figured out that was for you! Sorry I couldn't "officially" cheer you on. Son1 and I were at the gym for our swim, then stood at the drive way (just past the finish) to cheer for just a bit. But, since I couldn't remember what you looked like--and I don't know your name--I really wasn't up for asking random guys if they were MBH. Did you get your sign? We went up later and yours was gone, but Sweeney's was still there.

Hawk--nicely done. If you gave it your all, that's all you can ask.

Asics--that is NUTS!!! I thought my 18 laps for 15mi was bad!

Jill--glad that run built up your confidence.

Nice little spin for son1 and me this afternoon. It was in the 50's with full sun. Ahhhhhh.......... The wind did pick up just a bit, and there was plenty of snow melt making the roads wet in places. But, for this time of year, I'LL TAKE IT!!! Finishing up the first loop (17mi) son1 commented that he really should do a second. One of htose "I really don't wanna do it, but if you do I will". Well, I was in the same boat. So... we did the second loop.
