What, no dinner thread today??

We're having a classic football dinner at the Bannon house - Grilled brats, sauerkraut, and hot German potato salad with a mug of Hog Heaven barleywine to wash it down.

Last night was squid-ink spaghetti noodles with chicken, leeks, garlic, and red bell pepper overtop. And Italian cheese, of course. Yum-o.

We bought some pot roast type of thing for the crock pot in the frozen aisle. So...who knows how it will turn out. Smells ok.

Spaghetti w/ Turkey Bolognese, Garlic Bread for dinner. I made a lentil soup for lunch today before heading out on my ride.

Last night, we went out to 5th Quadrant, one of New Old Lompoc's brewpubs in NoPo since we were out that way visiting some running stores (got shoes, split with Asics and ended up with some Sauconys).

I had a crab cake sandwich, BD had fish & chips, and DS had a kiddie burger. BD & I split a taster tray of some very yummy brews and we went next door to Pix for some pastries for dessert. Mmmm

Yep. I rode outside. It was in the upper 30s so I just bundled up with a LS shirt, bike jersey, arm warmers, tights, full gloves, toe warmers. I love my toe warmers.

Today was a mish-mash of whatever we could find. Every person for themselves. I had leftover cream of broccoli soup and a bowl of cereal. Others had buttered noodles, leftover pizza, leftover chicken pot pie. Clean out the fridge kind of night.

Chilli, cornbread, and lots of beer by a crackling fire while watching playoff football. Tabasco makes everything taste mighty fine. But don't tell the Ironmate I said that. Seriously, there's something wrong with me with the hot stuff... I can honestly use an entire bottle of the hot stuff and still want more. I'll be on fire, but like an addiction, I'll be back for more. And so I douse away.

She must make chili like me. Seriously, I'm a great cook but I can't make chili to save my life. I must overthink it or something. BrewDad makes the chili around here. Sometimes he brings the pressure cooker out to play and I see canned chipotle chiles, 1/2 a bag of tortilla chips, and beer as the remnants of dinner prep. He must be doing something mysterious.

The Ironmate does the same as BrewDad, and it's probably pretty good stuff, but I'm really addicted to the hot stuff, so much that I have one or two "regular" bites before soaking the rest in a Tabasco glaze. Love when it's so hot your face gets all race and you start taking off layers of clothing because you're so hot.

Totally agreed. Because I do the same (but I can get the 16 oz at grocery store). Unless our tastebuds are growing immune.

I have another favorite. It's this wasabi mustard. It's an ugly green and is kind of gross but is really hot. I enjoy the "buzz" it puts in my brain but find very little the Ironmate cooks to put it on. So it sits. Until cheese and crackers come out. Or chicken tenders.

Y'all are killing your tastebuds.

Funny story about wasabi. My DS is crazy about sushi. He can eat his weight in salmon sashimi. He also loves edamame (or edadaddy depending who gives him the pods) and avocado. Well one day, we're at our favorite sushi joint eating away when out of the corner of my eye, I see him grab a pile of green stuff and shove it into his mouth. He thought it was avocado...I've never seen his eyes get so big and the ensuing meltdown was epic. He still loves sushi but stays far away from the green stuff.
